Best Screenshot APIs for Capturing Full Web Pages

Compare four screenshot APIs by scrolling behavior, lazy-load support, long-page safeguards, controls and published pricing—and learn how to test them fairly.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

ScreenshotNeo is the first API to try if you want clean full-page captures and predictable billing: consent banners, newsletter popups and chat widgets are removed before capture, and failed or unclean results are not billed. Browserless, ScreenshotOne and Urlbox are also credible candidates, but the right choice depends on how each handles lazy content, animation, very long pages and billable usage. No comparable independent benchmark establishes a universal winner, so test your own representative pages before committing.

Which full-page screenshot API should you try first?

API Best fit What to verify
ScreenshotNeo Teams that want clean screenshots, explicit page verdict and billing headers, and an API plus MCP tools for AI agents. Check that its capture controls and output options match your workflow; the supplied product details do not establish comparative rendering benchmarks.
Browserless Developers who want Puppeteer-style controls or may use the same browser service for other operations such as PDF generation, scraping or rendered HTML. Set explicit scrolling for lazy-loaded pages; current plan pricing was not established in the cited documentation.
ScreenshotOne Workloads that can benefit from either a default full-page capture or a scroll-and-stitch section mode, especially when testing complex pages with animation. Tune scrolling and delays for the pages you capture; compare credits and request limits with your actual usage.
Urlbox Pages where scrolling to load lazy content, explicit safeguards for infinite scroll, maximum height or full-width capture matter. Long, multimedia-heavy or anti-bot-protected pages can consume extra renders; tier features and image-format limits matter.

This is a workload-based shortlist, not a measured ranking: the providers’ documentation describes their features, but does not establish a standardized cross-provider comparison of accuracy, speed or success rates.

What “full page” capture means in practice

A full-page screenshot extends beyond the browser’s initial viewport. It may be rendered as one tall image or captured section by section as the browser scrolls and then combined. The difference matters: a single tall render and a scroll-and-stitch capture can behave differently when a page has animations, lazy-loaded assets, sticky headers or content that changes during scrolling.

Lazy-loaded images and other content may not exist in the rendered page until scrolling triggers them. A provider’s full-page option alone does not prove it scrolls first. Confirm whether scrolling is automatic or must be requested, and whether you can set a delay or wait condition after each scroll.

How the APIs handle scrolling and difficult pages

Browserless: explicit scroll control

Browserless documents a REST screenshot endpoint that accepts a URL and Puppeteer-style options, with PNG, JPEG or WebP output. Set fullPage: true to capture beyond the viewport. For lazy-loaded content, its documentation describes scrollPage: true before capture and recommends combining it with fullPage: true. It also documents selector crops, viewport configuration, quality, clipping and device scale factor. See the Browserless screenshot documentation.

ScreenshotOne: full-page or section-by-section

ScreenshotOne documents a default full-page approach and a by_sections mode that scrolls through sections and combines them. Its documentation says section capture can help with complex pages that animate, but warns that fast scrolling or insufficient delays can miss elements. For inconsistent captures, try smaller scroll increments, longer delays, reduced motion and a longer wait. See ScreenshotOne’s documentation.

Urlbox: scroll before capture, with limits for endless pages

Urlbox says it normally scrolls to the bottom before capture to load lazy elements and determine page height; an option can skip this step. Its documentation describes controls for infinite scrolling, including a default cap of three sections after infinite scrolling is detected, a maximum height, a start offset, element-specific screenshots and full-width capture for horizontally scrolling pages. It recommends PNG for full-page output because of its stated image-dimension limits for JPEG and WebP. See Urlbox’s documentation.

Compare real usage and pricing—not just monthly quotas

“Screenshots per month” is not necessarily a like-for-like unit. A full-page capture, a long or multimedia-heavy page, a cache hit and an unsuccessful request may be counted differently. Check the provider’s credit rules, rate limits, cache policy, failed-request billing and overage settings before estimating cost.

ScreenshotOne Pricing page accessed 2026-10-03: 100 free screenshots monthly; Basic $17/month for 2,000 screenshots and 40 requests/minute; Growth $79/month for 10,000 and 80 requests/minute; Scale $259/month for 50,000 and 150 requests/minute. ScreenshotOne and Urlbox figures above are snapshots of their pricing pages accessed on 2026-10-03, not guaranteed future prices. Compare the same representative workload and inspect billed usage, not just the headline quota.

A practical evaluation checklist

  1. Choose representative URLs. Include ordinary pages, pages with lazy-loaded images, animated layouts, fixed or sticky elements, and any very long or infinite-scroll pages you actually need to capture.
  2. Make the request conditions identical. Use the same viewport, device scale, output format, wait policy and scroll policy for every provider. Record which options were enabled.
  3. Inspect the output. Look for missing below-the-fold content, duplicated or clipped sticky elements, animation inconsistencies, unexpected page-height limits and image-format constraints.
  4. Check difficult-page controls. Confirm whether you can bound the capture height, stop infinite scrolling, wait after scrolls, target an element or capture beyond the viewport width.
  5. Measure operational fit. Check request rate limits, cache behavior, billing for failures, overages, and whether you need browser automation capabilities beyond screenshots.
  6. Review both images and usage records. Run enough captures to encounter realistic cache and failure cases; compare the actual outputs and billed units before selecting a plan.

This method avoids unsupported claims about which service is fastest or most accurate. A defensible performance comparison needs reproducible captures on the pages, settings and output formats your project uses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a full-page API screenshot automatically include lazy-loaded images?

Not always. Some APIs scroll before capture by default; others require an explicit scroll option. Check the provider’s documented behavior and verify the result on your target pages.

How should I compare API performance fairly?

Use the same representative URLs, viewport, wait and scroll settings, and output format, then inspect the images and billed usage. The provider documentation cited here does not establish a neutral cross-provider benchmark.

Which output format is safest for a very tall page?

Urlbox recommends PNG for full-page output because of its stated dimension limits for JPEG and WebP. Check the chosen provider’s current format and size limits for your capture.
