It runs on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, includes both Mekanism and Applied Energistics 2, and adds the Applied-Mekanistics bridge so those systems can work together. Choose GregTech: New Horizons instead if you want a much older Minecraft version and the deepest, most demanding technology progression available in this shortlist. It runs on Minecraft 1.7.10. The packs are not interchangeable versions of the same game. Enigmatica 10 targets a current 1.21.1 environment, while GregTech: New Horizons is built around 1.7.10. A world, mod, or server setup from one line cannot simply be moved to the other.

Do not install a pack because a search result shows a different version number. Pack pages, launchers, wikis, and aggregators can lag behind one another. Check the pack’s official file or download page, then create a launcher instance using exactly the Minecraft version and loader shown there.
Decide whether you want integration or specialization
Enigmatica 10 is an integration-first choice. Its reviewed mod list contains Mekanism, Applied Energistics 2, and Applied-Mekanistics 1.6.3. That combination lets a player build industrial processing and connect it to an automated digital storage and crafting system without treating the two technologies as isolated projects.

Stable and beta versions
The official downloads page labels 2.8.4 as the latest stable release and lists Java 17–25 compatibility for that download. The official version history records 2.8.4 on 23 December 2025. For a dependable long-term world, that is the conservative starting point.
The 2.9 line is not a finished stable replacement. A first beta build was reported on 8 June 2026, and the official history lists 2.9.0-RC-2 Beta on 4 October 2026. Keep stable and beta installations in separate launcher instances. Do not point a beta client at a stable world, or a stable client at a beta world, without a tested backup and a documented migration path. - Pick the version line first. Select Enigmatica 10 for Minecraft 1.21.1 NeoForge, or GregTech: New Horizons for Minecraft 1.7.10. For ATM10, confirm the current values on its official page before creating an instance.
- Use a launcher that supports the pack’s distribution. Modpacks are distributed through launchers such as CurseForge and Modrinth. Select the pack’s official listing rather than importing a similarly named community profile.
- Match the exact file version. For E10, compare the launcher file with the current 1.33.0 listing if that is the build you intend to run. For GTNH, choose stable 2.8.4 unless you intentionally want the 2.9 beta line.
- Install the required Java runtime. Follow the launcher’s requirement for the selected Minecraft line. The official GTNH 2.8.4 download explicitly supports Java 17 through Java 25; do not assume that a runtime suitable for one pack is correct for the other.
- Give the instance adequate memory and storage headroom. Use the launcher’s current recommendation, close other memory-heavy programs, and leave free disk space for libraries, logs, backups, and world growth. The evidence available for this comparison does not establish a universal RAM number that applies to every machine.
- Launch once before adding anything. Let the pack build its configuration, reach the title screen, and create a test world. This separates a broken base installation from a later shader, resource-pack, or server problem.

The launcher shows the wrong Minecraft version
Remove the incorrect profile and recreate it from the official pack file. Do not “repair” a 1.7.10 GTNH instance by changing its version to 1.21.1, or downgrade an E10 profile to match an old tutorial. They are separate modpack lines with different loaders and mod ecosystems.
Mekanism and AE2 do not interact in Enigmatica 10
Confirm that you installed the complete E10 profile and that Applied-Mekanistics 1.6.3 is present. A manually assembled instance can omit the bridge even when both parent mods are installed. Check the in-game mod list and recipe viewer before changing configuration files.
A GTNH tutorial recipe does not match
Check the tutorial’s pack version. GTNH’s staged progression changes what is available at each tier, and old wiki entries may describe a different release. Prefer the official download and quest information for the exact version you installed.
The beta world becomes unreliable
Stop updating the same save repeatedly. Restore the last known-good backup, move the beta test to a separate instance, and use stable GTNH 2.8.4 for the primary campaign if you need predictable behavior. A beta label is a release-status warning, not a guarantee that every update is save-compatible.
An aggregator contradicts an official page
Treat the discrepancy as a version warning. The official GTNH pages identify 2.8.4 as stable and document the 2.9 beta history, while at least one older wiki entry reports a much earlier version as current. For E10, use the current CurseForge file listing and the launcher’s displayed version rather than an undated search snippet.
