How to find a remote that works with your Yamaha receiver
- Record the complete receiver model. Check the rear label or the receiver’s documentation, including any suffix or regional variant. Search that exact designation in Yamaha’s support and manual library. Similar model numbers do not establish compatibility.
- Look for the original remote identifier or part number. If you still have the old remote, note its model marking and any part number. If it is missing, check the receiver’s manual and support materials for the remote or replacement part information.
- Match the evidence in the listing. Prefer a listing that names your exact receiver model or the exact OEM part number. Do not rely on a product title that merely says it works with Yamaha receivers.
- Check the functions you use. Review button photos and the seller’s feature information for essentials such as input selection, setup navigation, or zone control. If an important function is unclear, ask the seller before ordering; compatibility lists alone do not establish that every original button is present.
Replacement options and how to compare them

OEM, aftermarket, or universal: which should you choose?
OEM replacement
An OEM remote is the straightforward choice when you have a confirmed part-number match. For example, ZA113500 is specifically listed for four receiver models; that listing does not establish fit for other Yamaha units.
Aftermarket replacement
An aftermarket remote can be a practical alternative when its maker provides a model-by-model compatibility list. The RRAV300 is one example, but check your exact model against Anderic’s list rather than assuming broad compatibility from the Yamaha branding.

Programmable universal remote
A universal remote is worth considering only if its maker explicitly supports your receiver or it can be programmed with the commands your setup requires. Yamaha manuals include code-setting directions for some models, but that does not verify any one universal remote as a complete replacement across Yamaha receivers. Check the receiver’s manual for model-specific instructions.
Remote IDs and device codes are different
Some receivers use a remote-control ID that must match the receiver. Yamaha’s RX-V467 manual explains the matching-ID requirement and how distinct IDs can be assigned when receivers are used together. If a replacement appears unresponsive, check the manual for your specific receiver’s ID procedure; do not assume the RX-V467 steps apply to other models. Read the RX-V467 owner manual.

Device-control codes are a separate matter: some Yamaha remotes can send codes for other components, and manuals may explain how to configure them. An incorrectly set code can cause trouble, but code lists do not show that an arbitrary remote will provide all receiver functions. The RX-V465 manual, for instance, names weak batteries, a remote/receiver ID mismatch, and incorrectly set remote codes as possible causes of control problems. Consult the manual for your own model. Read the RX-V465 owner manual.
What to do if you cannot find the part number
Search the full receiver model in Yamaha’s manual and support library. If you still cannot identify the remote part number, Yamaha’s parts and service guidance says the parts-order site requires a Yamaha part number and directs customers who do not know it to contact support. This is safer than ordering a remote based only on a similar-looking model name.

Yamaha AV Controller turns a phone or tablet into a Wi-Fi controller for supported network receivers. Check Yamaha’s current compatible-model list before relying on it. It can provide control when your model and network setup are supported, but it is not a physical replacement for an unsupported receiver or for a situation where you specifically need a handset.
