Apple’s Apple Pencil compatibility guide maps Pencil models to supported iPads; that pairing information does not independently establish which replacement tips fit. If you are unsure which Pencil you own, use Apple’s model and iPad compatibility information to narrow it down, then match the tip listing to the Pencil itself.

What to check in a third-party listing
Third-party replacement tips are available, but their fit and quality are not established by Apple’s compatibility claim. iFixit notes the availability of third-party tips; that does not verify any particular seller or product. Before ordering an alternative, check:
- Exact Pencil model: The product maker should explicitly name your model, not just say “Apple Pencil compatible.”
- What is included: Confirm the listing is for replacement tips, and check how many are in the package.
- Tip details: Compare material and shape only when the seller documents them clearly.
- Seller and returns: Review who is selling the item, the return terms, and authenticity signals.
- Product type: Make sure you are not looking at a whole stylus or a screen protector.
Apple’s four-pack is the directly documented option for the four Pencil models named above. A third-party listing needs its own clear fit claim; do not infer interchangeability from Apple’s pack.

How to replace the tip
The following steps come from iFixit’s guide for Apple Pencil (2nd generation), not an Apple instruction in the cited source. Follow them only for that guide’s model scope:
- Squeeze the existing tip between two fingers and turn it counterclockwise to remove it.
- Place the replacement tip on the metal prong.
- Turn the replacement clockwise until snug. Stop when it no longer turns easily.

Do you already have a spare tip?
Apple’s technical specifications for the Apple Pencil (1st generation) say an extra tip is included in the box. That source does not establish the in-box tip contents for the other Pencil models. Check your original packaging or the specifications for your exact model before buying a spare.
