Godlike.Host is listed first in this comparison because it offers modded Minecraft hosting with a game panel, a built-in mod installer, one-click modpacks, custom server-pack uploads, and SFTP/FTP access. There is no verified single best Pixelmon server host for 2026. The right choice is a provider and plan that explicitly supports the Pixelmon version you intend to run, its required NeoForge and Java versions, and at least 6 GB of RAM. For a small server, 8 GB is a more comfortable target. A cheap plan with less memory—or one that only documents Forge—may not run a current Pixelmon setup correctly.
This guide compares the provider information available for 2026 with the requirements in the Pixelmon Wiki. Provider prices and plan details below come from third-party listings or provider material that has not been independently verified; confirm the current configuration and total recurring cost with the host before paying.

What makes a Pixelmon host a good choice?
Pixelmon hosting is Minecraft server hosting configured to run Pixelmon’s server files and the required mod loader. A plan’s advertised price is only one part of the decision. The service also needs to let you choose the right Java runtime, install the required NeoForge build, allocate adequate memory, and manage the server files and startup arguments.

For Pixelmon 9.3.0 and later, the official Pixelmon server guidance requires NeoForge rather than Forge and Java 21. The Pixelmon 9.3.0 release post names NeoForge 21.1.162 as the minimum build. Download and changelog excerpts for 9.3.3 and 9.3.6 list 21.1.172, but that detail is less firmly established. Check the installation instructions for the specific Pixelmon release you plan to use rather than assuming every 9.3.x release accepts the same loader build.
#1 Best Overall

- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.
- SURVIVE THE ADVENTURE — Face mysterious foes, travel across exciting landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play cross-platform with friends in Bedrock Edition on console, mobile, and PC, or join community servers in Java Edition on PC, Mac, and Linux. Online console multiplayer requires a platform-specific subscription (sold separately).
Pixelmon’s memory guidance varies with the context: its installation page asks for at least 4 GB of allocated memory, preferably more; its performance guide says 6 GB is the bare minimum to run properly, that 8 GB should suffice for an average server with a small player base, and that more than 16 GB is generally unnecessary unless circumstances justify it. Treat 4 GB as an installation-page floor, not a prudent target for a populated server.
- Loader and Java: the provider must support the NeoForge and Java versions required by your chosen Pixelmon release.
- Memory: use 6 GB as a practical minimum and consider 8 GB for a small group.
- Storage: check the disk allowance and whether it is sufficient for the server files, backups, and a growing world.
- Control: make sure you can upload files and edit the startup arguments, including
user_jvm_args.txt. - Price: compare the cost of a plan that actually meets the requirements, not the provider’s cheapest advertised entry tier.
Pixelmon hosting options compared
The table separates reported figures from details that were not stated in the cited listings. A low starting price does not establish that a plan can run Pixelmon: the RAM available at that price, its Java and NeoForge support, and its disk limit matter more than the headline number.
| Provider or listing | Reported price and memory | What is established | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Godlike.Host | Current plans; memory at the selected tier: see the current plans. | Modded Minecraft hosting with a game panel, built-in mod installer and updater, one-click modpacks, custom server-pack uploads, and SFTP/FTP access. | Whether NeoForge and the required Java version can be selected for the Pixelmon release, allocated RAM, disk allowance, startup-argument access, and current recurring cost. |
| Humble Servers | 8 GB to 16 GB tiers; the reported 8 GB tier has a 20 GB disk cap. Price: not stated (Humble Servers product page, year not stated). | Pixelmon-focused provider; the reported 8 GB tier reaches the small-server memory target. | Current price, whether NeoForge and Java 21 are available, backup allowance, disk upgrade options, and how startup arguments are edited. |
| WinterNode | $1.99 per GB; a 6 GB server was listed at $11.94 per month (WinterNode blog, year not stated). | Per-GB pricing makes the memory cost easy to estimate from the cited figure. | Whether the rate is current and recurring, included storage, NeoForge and Java 21 support, and any additional fees or resource limits. |
| Kamatera | From $4.00; RAM at that price: not stated (HostAdvice, June 2026). | A third-party listing gives a starting price. | Configuration that supplies at least 6 GB, total monthly cost, and the steps for installing and maintaining the server software. |
| IONOS | From $2.00; the listing reports 1–24 GB RAM across its offerings (HostAdvice, June 2026). | The reported range includes configurations above the Pixelmon minimum, but does not tie 6 GB or 8 GB to the starting price. | Price of a suitable configuration, Java and NeoForge support, disk allowance, and whether the service is managed for Minecraft or is a general server. |
| Apex Hosting | From $7.49 per month for a reported 2 GB plan (Linuxbuz, year not stated). | The cited entry plan is below Pixelmon’s recommended practical minimum. | Cost and specifications of a higher-memory plan; do not treat the cited 2 GB tier as a suitable Pixelmon plan. |
| Zap-Hosting | From $3.01; RAM at that price: not stated (Linuxbuz, year not stated). | A third-party listing gives a starting price. | Whether a plan at or above 6 GB is available at a reasonable total cost, plus loader, Java, storage, and file-management support. |
| Shockbyte | Price and RAM: not stated (Linuxbuz, year not stated). | Named in a third-party host list. | All material plan details: memory, disk, price, NeoForge and Java versions, and startup-file access. |
These figures are not a like-for-like price survey: they come from different sources and dates, and the listings do not establish that the named amounts are current, recurring rates for equivalent configurations. In particular, the starting prices for Kamatera, IONOS, and Zap-Hosting do not identify the price of a Pixelmon-ready plan. Ask for the price of the specific memory tier you need, including any required control panel or storage costs.

For a small friend-group server
Godlike.Host is listed first here for its modded Minecraft game panel and file tools; compare its current plans with other plans that offer 8 GB of RAM. Pixelmon’s performance guide says 8 GB should suffice for an average server with a small player base, while its installation guidance asks for at least 4 GB and its performance guidance sets a 6 GB bare minimum. Humble Servers is the only provider in the cited material identified as Pixelmon-focused with an 8 GB tier, but its 20 GB disk cap and unreported price deserve attention. A general server provider may also work, provided you confirm that its 8 GB configuration can run the required software and gives you file and startup-argument access.

For a constrained budget
Compare the cost of a 6 GB configuration, not the cheapest plan on a landing page. WinterNode’s blog gives a direct reference point of $11.94 per month for 6 GB at $1.99 per GB, but the blog’s year is not stated and the rate should be confirmed. The $2.00 IONOS and $3.01 Zap-Hosting starting prices do not specify memory at that price, while the listed $7.49 Apex plan includes only 2 GB. None of those entry prices alone proves that a functional Pixelmon plan costs that amount.
For hands-on server administration
A general-purpose server can be a fit if you are comfortable installing NeoForge, setting Java, managing files, and applying updates yourself. Confirm in advance that you can access the server directory and change the startup configuration. If you want the host to handle more of the Minecraft-specific setup, look for documented Pixelmon or NeoForge support and ask what that support covers; the available provider listings do not establish the details of any host’s support service.
For a larger or changing server
Do not automatically buy the largest memory tier. Pixelmon’s performance guide advises against going above 16 GB unless your circumstances justify it. Ask whether you can upgrade RAM later, whether an upgrade requires a migration or downtime, and whether the disk allocation changes with the plan. The available listings do not confirm upgrade procedures for the providers above, so get those terms from the provider before choosing a plan on the assumption that it will scale easily.

Send the provider a specific configuration question rather than asking only whether it “supports mods.” For example: “Can this plan run my Pixelmon release with Java 21 and NeoForge [required build], with 8 GB allocated RAM? Can I edit user_jvm_args.txt and upload or replace the server files?” Put the exact version and loader build in your request after checking the release’s official instructions.

- Software versions: Which Java versions are available, and can you select Java 21? Can you install the required NeoForge build rather than being limited to a Forge preset?
- Memory allocation: How much RAM is allocated to the server process? Is it dedicated or shared, and can the plan be upgraded?
- Disk: What is the storage limit, and does it cover the world, mod files, logs, and backups? Humble Servers’ reported 20 GB cap on its 8 GB tier is a concrete reason to check this rather than assuming storage is unlimited.
- Startup control: Can you edit
user_jvm_args.txtor the equivalent launch configuration? Can you view startup logs when the server fails? - Files and recovery: Can you upload files, download a backup, and restore the world if an update or configuration change goes wrong?
- Billing: Is the quoted amount a recurring monthly rate, a temporary offer, or a starting price for a smaller configuration? Are there separate charges for storage, backups, or administration?
- Support scope: Will support help with the host’s control panel and service only, or also with NeoForge and Pixelmon startup problems?
Get the answer for the precise plan you intend to buy. A provider’s general statement that it supports Minecraft or mods does not establish that it supplies the Java runtime, loader version, memory, or control you need for a particular Pixelmon release.
Install a Pixelmon server on your own machine or a configurable host
The official Pixelmon installation guidance describes a server setup using the NeoForge installer. The instructions below cover the basic flow; menu labels and generated files can vary with operating system and installer version. Use the installer and server files appropriate to your Pixelmon release, and do not substitute an older Forge-based guide for a 9.3.0-or-later setup.
- Check version compatibility. Confirm the Pixelmon release, Minecraft version, Java version, and minimum NeoForge build from the official instructions for that release. For Pixelmon 9.3.0 and later, the general requirement is NeoForge and Java 21; the 9.3.0 release post specifies NeoForge 21.1.162 as its minimum.
- Run the NeoForge installer. Choose Install Server, select or create a folder that is easy to locate, and let the installer place the server files there. On a hosted service, first check whether the panel offers an installer for the matching NeoForge build or whether you must upload the files.
- Start the generated script. Use
run.baton Windows orrun.shon macOS or Linux. A host may require starting the process through its control panel instead. The first run may stop so that you can review and accept the Minecraft EULA. - Accept the EULA and start again. Follow the EULA instructions in the server folder, then launch the generated script a second time. If it stops with an error, inspect the console or log for a missing Java runtime, incompatible loader build, or other startup problem rather than repeatedly restarting without checking the message.
- Set the memory allocation. Edit
user_jvm_args.txtin the server folder, as the Pixelmon guidance directs. Use a value appropriate to the plan and leave capacity for the operating system and other processes; do not configure the Java process to consume more RAM than the host has allocated. - Verify a clean startup. Read the console output and confirm that the server finishes loading without a Java or NeoForge version error. Connect only after startup completes, and keep the server and client versions aligned.
Memory, storage, and performance planning
How much RAM does Pixelmon need?
Use the Pixelmon Wiki’s two pieces of guidance in context: the installation page’s minimum is at least 4 GB allocated memory, preferably more, while the performance page says 6 GB is the bare minimum for running properly and 8 GB should suffice for an average server with a small player base. That makes 6 GB a sensible floor when comparing paid plans and 8 GB the better starting point for a small group if the budget allows.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThose recommendations are not a guarantee for every world or player count. The cited guidance does not provide a universal player-per-gigabyte formula, nor does it establish one memory setting that fits every mod configuration. If you expect a larger or more active community, monitor actual memory use and server behavior after launch before deciding whether to scale up. The same guide cautions against more than 16 GB unless the circumstances warrant it.

Why the disk limit matters
Memory and disk are separate plan limits. A plan can meet the 8 GB memory target while still restricting the space available for the world and server files. Humble Servers’ reported 20 GB cap on its 8 GB tier illustrates why the storage figure belongs beside the RAM figure in a comparison. The available evidence does not provide world-size limits for the other listed providers, so ask how much storage is included and what happens if it fills.
Before installing, check how backups are handled and whether backup copies count toward the same disk allowance. Keep a recoverable copy of the world before changing Pixelmon or NeoForge versions. A backup is useful only if you can retrieve it or restore it, so verify the procedure rather than assuming that an advertised backup feature guarantees a straightforward recovery.
Common setup problems and how to diagnose them
The server refuses to start with a Java error
Check the Java runtime selected by the host and the runtime used by the launch script. Pixelmon’s official guide lists Java 21 for version 9.3.0 or later and warns that other versions will not work; it lists Java 17 for 9.2.0–9.2.10 and Java 8 for versions before 9.2.0. Match the runtime to the release rather than choosing a version based on an outdated tutorial.

Confirm that the server uses NeoForge for Pixelmon 9.3.0 and later, not Forge, and check the minimum NeoForge build for the exact release. NeoForge 21.1.162 is named in the 9.3.0 release post; excerpts for 9.3.3 and 9.3.6 list 21.1.172. Because those later details are less firmly established, consult the release-specific official download or changelog information before installing.

The server exits on its first run
The official setup flow says the server shuts down on first start so the EULA can be accepted. Follow the installer’s EULA instructions in the server folder, then run the script again. If the second start also exits, use the console output to identify the failure instead of treating every first-run exit as the same problem.
The host’s plan runs out of memory or storage
Check the actual plan allocation and the server’s configuration. A 2 GB plan such as the cited Apex entry tier is below the Pixelmon performance guide’s 6 GB bare minimum. If memory or disk is exhausted, determine whether you can upgrade the existing instance, whether an upgrade requires moving files, and how to preserve a backup first. Do not assume a plan can be enlarged without interruption unless the provider confirms it.
How reliable are the 2026 provider claims?
The prices and specifications in this comparison are reported by third-party directories, a provider product page, or a provider blog—not a consistent, independently verified comparison of equivalent plans. HostAdvice’s June 2026 list provides starting prices for Kamatera and IONOS and reports an IONOS memory range, but does not establish the cost of a Pixelmon-ready configuration at those starting prices. Linuxbuz names Apex Hosting, Shockbyte, and Zap-Hosting; its reported Apex entry plan has 2 GB, while it does not provide enough comparable detail here to establish the value of the others. WinterNode’s per-gigabyte rate and Humble Servers’ tiers also need confirmation against current provider terms.

Godlike.Host is listed first here for its modded Minecraft panel, mod tools, custom pack uploads, and SFTP/FTP access; confirm that the plan you choose meets Pixelmon’s NeoForge, Java, RAM, disk, and startup-file requirements. The Pixelmon requirements are more useful as a screening test than as an endorsement of any listed company. Confirm the exact software versions and plan limits with the host, especially because prices, RAM and disk tiers, and minimum NeoForge builds can change. The available evidence does not establish a confirmed current Pixelmon release number: a search excerpt mentioned 9.4.0 for Minecraft 1.21.1, but that release detail was not confirmed on a primary page. Do not choose a server build based only on that excerpt.
