Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallOutdated Drivers Are Slowing You Down
One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchFor a small business, the best payroll software is the one that fits its pay rules, captures the right hours and deductions, produces clear employee statements, and keeps records easy to retrieve—not a product that simply advertises “accurate pay stubs.” Zoho Payroll, Wave Payroll, and QuickBooks Payroll describe employee pay-stub features, but those vendor claims are not independent proof that a service will calculate your employees’ pay correctly.
Federal law makes an important distinction: covered employers must keep accurate payroll records under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), but the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) says the FLSA does not require employers to provide pay stubs. State and local rules may differ, so check the requirements where your employees work.

What to compare in payroll software
A pay stub is only as dependable as the information and payroll process behind it. Before choosing a service, check whether it supports your actual pay arrangements and whether both the employer and employees can review the resulting records.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Pay inputs and calculations: Confirm the system can represent your employees’ hours, pay basis and rates, overtime, additions, and deductions. These are among the record categories the DOL identifies for covered employers.
- Pay-stub detail and access: Check what appears on the statement and whether employees can retrieve or download it after payday. A generated stub is useful only if its contents are understandable and accessible.
- Payroll history and export: Make sure you can retrieve payroll history and supporting information to investigate a discrepancy or reconcile a payment.
- Tax responsibilities: Determine which tasks the service handles—calculation, filing, and payment—and which remain yours. Vendor descriptions vary, and tax services can depend on plan setup and eligibility.
- Fit for your business: Verify state and locality availability, employee types, pay frequencies, integrations, and any service limits against your own workforce.
- Total cost and support: Compare the current base price, per-employee charges, add-ons, and support options directly with providers. The cited materials do not establish comparable prices.

| Service | What the provider describes | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Zoho Payroll | Zoho describes automated payroll calculations, pay-stub generation and delivery through an employee self-service portal, tax workflows, and weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, and monthly schedules. See Zoho Payroll. | Confirm the current plan’s state coverage, tax workflow, employee access, and support for your pay setup. |
| Wave Payroll | Wave says employees can access pay stubs and tax forms online and describes tax payment and filing services. Its page notes plan and customer timing details. See Wave Payroll. | Check current eligibility and service scope for your state, and confirm which tax tasks are included in the plan available to you. |
| QuickBooks Payroll | QuickBooks says users can customize, print, or email pay stubs and set notifications. It also describes automated payroll-tax filing after setup. See QuickBooks Payroll. | Confirm the tax-filing setup requirements, current plan coverage, employee access options, and compatibility with your payroll needs. |
LivyPayroll also describes pay-stub generation and delivery, tax calculations, and tax-liability summaries for U.S. small businesses. Those are vendor claims rather than independently tested results; the available information does not establish its relative fit, current operational history, or comparative support. See LivyPayroll.
What should be on a pay stub—and what federal law requires
The DOL’s FLSA recordkeeping guidance says covered employers must keep accurate records of hours worked and wages paid. Its listed information includes an employee’s hours, wage basis and rates, straight-time and overtime earnings, additions or deductions, total wages paid, and the pay date and period covered. The guidance says there is no required form for these records; it requires accurate information, not a federally prescribed visual pay-stub template. Read the DOL’s recordkeeping guidance.
Rank #2
- Sold as 1 Each.
- Simplifies payroll record keeping.
- Quarterly and yearly summaries.
- Seven columns for deductions.
- Includes Calendar of Tax Form Due Dates and Explanation of Payroll Tax Forms.
Separately, the DOL’s FLSA Advisor states that the FLSA does not require employers to provide employees pay stubs. That is a federal statement, not a nationwide answer to every pay-statement question: state or local rules can impose different requirements. Check the rules that apply where your business operates and where its employees work. Read the DOL’s pay-stub guidance.
How to check a payroll service before relying on it
- Map your payroll inputs. List employee types, pay schedules, rates, hours, overtime situations, and common additions or deductions. Compare that list with the provider’s supported workflows.
- Review a sample statement and employee access. Ask what information appears on a pay stub and how employees retrieve it. Confirm any portal, download, print, email, or notification options you need.
- Trace the tax workflow. Identify what the plan calculates, files, or pays, what setup is required, and what remains the employer’s responsibility.
- Check records and corrections. Confirm that payroll history is retrievable and ask how corrections are handled if an input or payment is wrong.
- Validate coverage and terms. Confirm availability for your location, the current plan’s limits, pay frequencies, employee types, integration needs, full price, and support access.
- Check local pay-statement rules. Use the relevant state and local authorities or qualified professional advice; federal FLSA guidance alone does not settle those requirements.
Choosing the right fit
Start with the payroll workflow your business actually needs, then compare how clearly each provider describes employee statements, employee access, tax tasks, and record retrieval. The cited provider pages can help identify features to investigate, but they do not provide independent accuracy testing or a basis for naming one service the most accurate. Select a plan only after confirming its current terms and that it supports your jurisdiction and payroll setup.
