GTX Gaming is the better starting point if you want a lower advertised entry price and a UK/Ireland latency test before ordering. Whichever route you choose, budget around Pocketpair’s recommended baseline of four CPU cores and 16 GB of memory for a long-running world; 8 GB can boot the server but carries a higher out-of-memory crash risk.
Quick verdict for UK players
Choose a host by capacity first, then by location, backup controls and the amount of administration you want to do yourself. A London or nearby European datacentre can reduce network delay for players in Britain, but none of the published pages in this comparison includes independent ping measurements. Treat a provider’s location or latency-test tool as a starting point, not proof of an always-low in-game ping.

What Palworld’s official requirements mean for a hosted server
Pocketpair’s version 0.5.0 documentation lists four CPU cores as recommended and 16 GB of memory. It also says that 8 GB is bootable but increases the possibility of an out-of-memory server crash. Those figures describe the server process, not the gaming PCs used by your players, so a host plan with barely 8 GB leaves little room for the operating system, monitoring, updates, mods or a busy save.
Memory is the first sizing decision
Use 16 GB as the sensible starting point for a persistent community, especially when several players are online together, the world has been running for weeks, or you expect mods and large bases. An 8 GB plan can suit a small test world, but it gives you less tolerance for spikes and makes crashes more likely. Ask a provider whether the advertised memory is dedicated to your instance and how CPU resources are allocated; the pages covered here do not provide a common, independently measured CPU-benchmark figure.

CPU and player activity
Four cores is Pocketpair’s recommended baseline. CPU demand rises with simultaneous players, exploration, automated bases, combat and background simulation. A plan advertised only by RAM can therefore look generous while still feeling slow if its processor allocation is heavily shared. Before ordering, check whether you can upgrade CPU resources as well as memory and whether the control panel exposes restart and update tools.
Storage, save integrity and the default port
Pocketpair recommends faster SSD storage because low-performance storage can corrupt saved data. NVMe is the clearest specification among the compared services: HostPanel lists it explicitly. Pocketpair’s default network port is UDP 8211. Your host’s firewall and control panel must allow that port, and any change has to be reflected in the server configuration and the connection details given to players.
Operating systems and deployment methods
The official documentation supports Windows 64-bit and Linux 64-bit. It lists Windows with Steam, Windows with SteamCMD, Linux with SteamCMD and the official Docker image as deployment methods. Pocketpair warns that Docker Desktop is deprecated from a storage-I/O perspective, so a Linux host using the official image is preferable to relying on Docker Desktop for a production world. Managed game hosting hides most of this work; self-hosting leaves installation, patching, firewall rules and recovery to you.
HostPanel: the most transparent London option
HostPanel says its Palworld servers run in a UK London datacentre. Its pricing is unusually straightforward: the provider lists an 8 GB tier at £20 per month and a 16 GB tier at £40 per month, with a flat £2.50 per GB monthly rate and the same price on renewal. The figures were checked by the provider in August 2026, so confirm the checkout total if you order later.

The service lists NVMe storage, DDoS protection, instant setup, automatic backups, full FTP/file access and a 99.9% uptime SLA. Full file access matters when you need to copy a save, edit settings, install a permitted mod or migrate away. Automatic backups reduce the risk of losing a world after a bad update, but you should still establish how many restore points are retained and whether you can trigger a restore yourself.
HostPanel describes its 16 GB tier as the safe recommendation for long-running worlds and larger communities, with 8+ recommended players and up to 32 players. Those player figures are the provider’s guidance, not an independent capacity test. They are most useful as a planning ceiling: actual performance depends on CPU allocation, activity, mods, save size and how many players are online at once.
When HostPanel is the sensible pick
- You want the datacentre location stated plainly as London.
- You prefer a memory-based price model instead of an opaque slot limit.
- You need NVMe, file access and automatic backups in the same service.
- You would rather have a published uptime commitment than rely only on a marketing availability statement.
GTX Gaming: lower entry pricing with a latency check
GTX Gaming advertises UK Palworld hosting from £9.99 per month and offers a latency test from the UK or Ireland. That combination is useful for a group that wants to try the network path before committing. The test is a provider tool, not an independent measurement, and a single result cannot represent every player’s broadband route or evening congestion.
The product page lists DDoS protection, automatic off-site backups, a web control panel and file access. It also describes controls for settings, save files, backups and upgrades, which can make routine administration easier than managing a raw virtual machine. The page states support for Palworld 1.0 and mentions release features such as the World Tree endgame region and new Pals; present these as GTX Gaming’s own service claims rather than independently verified game testing.

The page does not state comparable RAM tiers, CPU allocations or a fixed renewal schedule alongside the advertised starting price. Check those points at checkout, together with current stock, the exact UK or nearby location, backup retention and the cost of scaling memory. A low entry price is useful only if the plan still has enough headroom for your world.
When GTX Gaming is the sensible pick
- You want to test latency from Britain or Ireland before paying.
- You value a web panel with direct controls for saves, settings, backups and upgrades.
- You are starting small and want a lower advertised monthly entry point.
- You are prepared to verify RAM, CPU and renewal details rather than choosing on headline price alone.
Managed hosting versus running the server yourself
Managed hosting
A managed provider normally supplies the machine, network protection, panel and basic deployment. You still need to choose memory, configure the world, control access and decide how often to update. The practical advantages are faster setup, provider-maintained hardware, simpler restarts and a support channel when the service fails. The trade-off is a recurring bill and less control over the underlying operating system.

Self-hosting on Windows or Linux
Self-hosting gives you direct control over files, versions, firewall rules and hardware. It can make sense if you already operate a suitable machine with a reliable upload connection and can keep it patched. Pocketpair supports Windows 64-bit and Linux 64-bit, with Steam or SteamCMD installation paths and an official Docker image. You become responsible for exposing UDP 8211, protecting the machine, scheduling backups, monitoring memory, applying updates and restoring a known-good save.
Docker considerations
The official image can be useful for a Linux deployment that you already understand. Pocketpair’s warning about Docker Desktop and storage I/O is significant for a save-heavy game: a convenient desktop container setup is not automatically the safest production arrangement. If you are not comfortable diagnosing file permissions, volume mounts and storage performance, a managed panel is the lower-risk route.

How to choose enough capacity
- Start with the world’s purpose. A temporary solo or two-player test can begin near the 8 GB floor, while a persistent community should begin at 16 GB because that is Pocketpair’s listed memory figure.
- Count concurrent players, not just community size. Ten registered players who rarely overlap create a different load from ten online together. Use the provider’s player guidance only as an estimate.
- Add headroom for mods and updates. Leave memory for the operating system, panel, backups and short-lived spikes. A plan that is full at idle will be fragile during saves or patches.
- Check CPU allocation. Confirm that the plan meets the four-core recommendation and ask how CPU shares are handled when the host node is busy.
- Plan the upgrade path. Verify whether memory and CPU can be increased without rebuilding the world, and whether the panel supports a scheduled restart after the change.
Location and latency: what UK players can actually verify
A London or nearby European datacentre usually shortens the physical route for players in the UK, but distance is only one part of latency. Your ISP, peering, home Wi-Fi, evening congestion and the host’s network all affect the result. The available provider pages do not include independently measured ping, jitter or packet-loss data.
Recommended Free Tools
Use a repeatable check before moving the whole community:
- Run the provider’s location or latency test from the same UK or Ireland connection that a regular player will use.
- Repeat at a busy evening hour and again during the day; record the minimum, typical and worst readings.
- Ask players in different regions of Britain to test, because one household’s route can be unusually good or bad.
- After deployment, compare connection quality in the actual game rather than relying only on a browser test.
- If players still see rubber-banding, separate network symptoms from server overload by checking memory and CPU usage during the incident.
Backups, restores and save migration
Automatic backups are valuable only when you can identify a usable restore point. HostPanel lists automatic backups, while GTX Gaming lists automatic off-site backups. Off-site copies add protection against a failure of the primary machine, but neither product page in this comparison specifies retention duration or the number of restore points.
Before inviting players, perform a controlled recovery drill. Create a harmless change, confirm that a backup captures it, restore to a test instance or maintenance window, and verify that the world, player data and settings load correctly. Keep a separate download of the save when the panel permits it. Full FTP/file access, which HostPanel lists, and file access, which GTX Gaming lists, make migration and independent archiving easier.
Best Value
Setup checklist for a new UK server
- Select the region and plan. Choose London or the closest suitable location, then match memory and CPU to the expected concurrent player count. Do not treat the cheapest advertised tier as a performance guarantee.
- Confirm the billing terms. Check whether the displayed amount is an introductory price, whether renewal changes, and whether upgrades are charged monthly at the same rate. HostPanel publishes the same renewal price; GTX Gaming’s page should be checked for current terms.
- Deploy the server. Use the provider’s one-click Palworld template or panel workflow. For self-hosting, follow Pocketpair’s supported Windows, SteamCMD, Linux or official-image method.
- Set the network port. Keep UDP 8211 unless you have a reason to change it. Open the port in the host firewall and make sure the connection instructions use the matching address and port.
- Configure files and access. Set the world name, password, administrative users and gameplay settings through the panel or file access. Limit administrative credentials to trusted people.
- Make a baseline backup. Trigger or verify the first backup before anyone builds. Download a copy when possible and record the date and world version.
- Test joining and saving. Connect from at least two player accounts, travel, build, log out and reconnect. Confirm that progress persists after a controlled restart.
- Document recovery. Write down the panel path for restart, update, backup and restore, plus who can perform each action.
Routine administration that prevents avoidable outages
- Schedule updates during a published maintenance window and tell players to log out first.
- Back up before every version change or major configuration edit.
- Watch memory after adding mods or increasing the player cap; repeated out-of-memory events mean the plan needs more headroom or a lighter configuration.
- Keep a recent local copy of the save even when the provider advertises automatic or off-site backups.
- Use file access to migrate deliberately: stop the server, copy the complete save and configuration, verify permissions, then start the destination and test before reopening to everyone.
Troubleshooting common failures
The server crashes with an out-of-memory message
Reduce simultaneous load, remove recently added mods, and inspect memory usage around saves and restarts. If the world is already near the 8 GB floor, moving to a 16 GB plan is the direct remedy supported by Pocketpair’s requirements. Also check whether the panel or operating system consumes part of the advertised memory.
Players report lag or rubber-banding
Record the time and affected players, then compare CPU and memory usage with the provider’s latency test. If only one household is affected, investigate its local route. If everyone is affected while resources are saturated, upgrade capacity or reduce heavy world activity; if resources are normal, ask the host to investigate the node and network path.
A save will not load after an update
Stop repeated restart attempts, preserve the current files, and restore the last known-good backup to a separate test location if the panel allows it. Confirm that the server version and save format match before replacing the live world. Never overwrite your only copy while troubleshooting.
The advertised location is unclear
Ask support for the physical datacentre country and city, not merely a regional label. Run the latency test from the players who matter most and retain the result with the order details. Location claims and test tools are not substitutes for an uptime or ping guarantee.
What to verify before paying
- Exact RAM and CPU allocation, including whether resources are dedicated.
- Current monthly price, renewal price and upgrade cost.
- Physical datacentre location and any available latency test.
- SSD or NVMe storage and how saves are protected from storage failure.
- Backup frequency, off-site status, retention and self-service restore.
- FTP or file access, save download and migration procedure.
- DDoS protection scope, support hours and the meaning of any uptime SLA.
- Palworld version support and how quickly updates are made available.
Bottom line
For a UK community that wants the clearest published specification, HostPanel is the strongest all-round fit: London hosting, a straightforward memory-based price, NVMe storage, backups, file access, DDoS protection and a stated 99.9% uptime SLA. GTX Gaming deserves consideration when the lower advertised starting price and UK/Ireland latency test are more important, provided you confirm memory, CPU and renewal terms first. In either case, size the world around Pocketpair’s four-core and 16 GB recommendation, test the real connection, and verify that restoring a backup is possible before your players invest time in the map.
