Best Monster Hunter Rise Settings for Smooth PC and Steam Deck Performance

Start with platform-specific Monster Hunter Rise settings, then tune one option at a time for your hardware, target frame rate, and image-quality priorities.

There is no single best graphics preset for every copy of Monster Hunter Rise. Your best settings depend on your PC or Steam Deck, the resolution and frame rate you want, and whether you value image detail, steady performance, or lower power use most. Start with the guidance below, then change one setting at a time and retest in the same area.

What “best settings” means for Monster Hunter Rise

Steam’s current PC store listing describes 1080p at 30fps on Low graphics settings in its additional notes. Treat that as a published baseline, not a guarantee for every PC, game area, or configuration. It is not evidence that Low is the right setting for a more capable system or that every system meeting the listed requirements will hold a particular frame rate. Choose a target before tuning: a frame rate that stays steady in the areas you play, an image that looks good at your display’s resolution, or a balance that also suits handheld power use. A setting that helps one goal may work against another, so judge changes against your own priority rather than chasing a universal preset.

Best starting settings for Monster Hunter Rise on Steam Deck

A Steam Community guide posted in August 2022 offers one user-reported configuration to try. It is a starting point, not an official Capcom preset or a current controlled test across Deck models, game areas, or updates. Steam Community: Monster Hunter Rise Steam Deck Settings/Performance Guide

Game setting Guide’s suggested value
Image Quality 100%
High Resolution Textures On
Texture Filtering Low
Ambient Occlusion On
Shadow Quality Low
Dynamic Shadows Off
Equipment Shadows On
Mesh Quality Average

The same guide reported using a 60fps/60Hz cap, Half Rate Shading on, and a manual GPU clock of 1200–1400 in Steam Deck Quick Access. These are that guide author’s 2022 choices, not requirements. Adjust or skip device-level controls if they are unstable on your Deck or do not fit your performance and power priorities.

How much to trust the Dynamic Shadows suggestion

The guide’s author reported a local comparison of 33fps versus 60fps in a Flooded Forest spawn when discussing Dynamic Shadows. That is an anecdote from one situation, posted in 2022; it does not establish the difference other players will see or predict performance elsewhere. It does make Dynamic Shadows a reasonable early setting to test if you are looking for a performance change.

FSR and battery-life trade-offs

The guide author also observed that forcing FSR through the Deck’s scaling filter could improve performance while introducing frame-time stuttering. Treat that as one user’s experience, not a guaranteed outcome. If handheld battery use is important, compare it separately in your own play session: the available sources do not provide current controlled battery measurements for these settings.

How to improve Monster Hunter Rise performance on a Windows PC

Check your hardware against the game’s requirements

Compare the CPU, graphics card, and memory in your PC with the current requirements on the Steam store page. Capcom directs players to the Steam Store for the requirements and warns that a system below minimum specifications may have a poor frame rate or may not run the game. Lowering settings cannot be promised to fix either problem. Steam store listing for Monster Hunter Rise · Capcom Support: Monster Hunter Rise – General Troubleshooting Guide – Steam

If your PC meets minimum but not recommended requirements

Capcom’s advice is to try lowering graphics settings: “If you do meet the minimum specifications but not the recommended specifications, you may want to try turning down the graphics settings, if you haven’t already.” Reduce settings, then check performance again in a repeatable situation. This is guidance to experiment, not a specific official preset or a promise of a particular frame rate. Capcom Support: Monster Hunter Rise – General Troubleshooting Guide – Steam

The sources establish no universal graphics-card upgrade or component purchase for this situation. The useful next step is to compare your own hardware with the requirements and see which settings changes improve the balance you want.

A repeatable way to tune settings

  1. Choose a priority and target. Decide whether stable frame rate, image detail, or power use matters most. Note your current frame rate and how the image looks in a specific area.
  2. Change one setting. Make a single graphics change, such as switching Dynamic Shadows off on Deck, rather than changing several options together.
  3. Retest in the same area. Compare the result under similar conditions. A different area can behave differently, so it is a poor basis for attributing a change to one option.
  4. Keep only useful changes. Retain a change if it improves your chosen balance without an unacceptable image-quality or stability cost; otherwise restore the previous value and try another option.

For PC troubleshooting, this process follows Capcom’s recommendation to lower graphics settings when a computer meets minimum but not recommended requirements. On Deck, it helps separate the 2022 guide’s starting suggestions from results on your own device.
