These are provider-published offers, not independently tested recommendations. Before choosing, confirm the exact plan’s transfer limits, sustained egress terms, location, taxes and renewal price—and test the network route for your workload.
If your goal is simply to keep uploaded videos looping on a YouTube channel 24/7, rather than relay a live source through MediaMTX, a managed cloud service may be a better fit; see StreamNeo below.

India VPS shortlist: what the published listings establish
| Provider | Published offer | Published configuration details | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inservers | Starting from ₹880/month | Entry configuration lists 2 vCores, 4 GB RAM, 40 GB NVMe storage and a 1 Gbps unmetered uplink. | Confirm the exact data-center location, fair-use terms, taxes and checkout price. “Unmetered” and a stated port speed do not prove sustained throughput, stream delivery quality or uptime. |
| CloudPe | ₹930/month listed configuration | The page describes a 4 GB RAM configuration and infrastructure in Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai. | Confirm the exact plan’s CPU, storage, included transfer or egress, taxes and selected region before comparing costs. |
These prices and specifications are claims on the providers’ pages, not independent measurements of MediaMTX performance. There is no established universal winner for this workload. Recheck offers and terms before purchase because VPS configurations and pricing can change.

What MediaMTX and a VPS each do
MediaMTX is media-server software that can publish, read, route, record and play audio/video streams. It supports RTMP and can forward a stream to another server. A VPS is the rented server where you can run MediaMTX; it is not the streaming software, an encoder or a guarantee of network performance.
#1 Best Overall
In a relay setup, an incoming source reaches MediaMTX on the VPS, and MediaMTX forwards it to YouTube. If you need to transcode, filter, or handle a destination protocol MediaMTX does not support for your case, the documented approach may involve FFmpeg instead of simple forwarding.
How to choose a VPS for continuous forwarding
Calculate transfer from the outgoing bitrate
A stream continuously sent to YouTube consumes outbound data for as long as it runs. A useful estimate is:
Rank #2
Monthly outbound data in GB ≈ bitrate in Mbps × 10.8 × hours streamed per day × days streamed per month.
For example, at 4 Mbps for 24 hours a day over 30 days, the estimate is about 3,110 GB of outbound data. This is an approximation based on decimal network units; actual billing can differ because of protocol overhead and the provider’s measurement policy. Compare that estimate with included transfer, egress charges and fair-use rules—not just the advertised port speed.
Rank #3
Choose a region for the route, not just the audience
Consider the path from your stream source to the VPS and onward from the VPS to YouTube’s current ingest endpoint. A server near your viewers is not automatically best for this relay. A nearby Indian region may reduce some network distance, but the available provider listings do not establish which has the best route to YouTube. If possible, validate latency, packet loss and sustained upload behavior from the exact region and plan before relying on it.
Match compute and storage to the actual job
For forwarding without re-encoding, the main constraint is often network capacity rather than a large CPU. MediaMTX’s scalability guidance says bandwidth between the server and readers is almost always the bottleneck for streaming without re-encoding. That guidance also discusses replicas and CDN tradeoffs for larger delivery workloads; a single VPS forwarding one stream to YouTube has a different traffic profile from serving a large audience directly.

- Every module is backed by a lifetime limited warranty from the manufacturer. We always have hundreds in stock!
- Free technical support from our experienced technicians.
- Every single module is fully tested by the manufacturer and certified. These parts are not compatible with non-server computers.
- Compatible with most major brand servers. Not sure if your server is compatible? Feel free to contact us. Our experienced technicians can verify if these parts will work for you.
- If you only relay one incoming stream, size the plan for the real bitrate, network terms and operational needs.
- If you transcode with FFmpeg, run several streams, record locally or host other services, CPU, RAM and disk needs rise; size and validate for those tasks.
- For direct recording or retained configuration and media, check storage, backup options and recovery procedures rather than assuming the entry disk is sufficient.
Compare the full recurring cost and support
Compare like for like: monthly and renewal price, taxes, IPv4 or other add-ons, storage, included transfer, backup fees and support. Check firewall controls, monitoring, reboot procedures and how you will restore MediaMTX configuration after a failure. Marketing claims about reliability are not independent uptime measurements.

Configure MediaMTX to forward to YouTube safely
- Get the current YouTube ingest details. In the authenticated YouTube live setup, copy the stream URL and stream key currently shown for the broadcast. Treat both as sensitive, especially the key; do not put a real key in public configuration examples, screenshots or logs.
- Use the current MediaMTX forwarding syntax. Follow the MediaMTX forwarding documentation for the destination setting, including how the YouTube URL and key are combined. Do not hard-code an ingest endpoint copied from an old tutorial: MediaMTX notes that YouTube’s reported endpoint can change.
- Prefer RTMPS where available. MediaMTX recommends RTMPS for encryption in transit. Use the currently displayed endpoint and verify it remains valid for your YouTube setup.
- Ensure the outgoing stream has both video and audio. MediaMTX’s documentation states: “YouTube requires streams to have both a video and an audio track. Video-only streams are silently rejected.” A silent or video-only source therefore needs an audio track before YouTube will accept it.
- Test the complete path before scheduling continuous operation. Confirm that the source reaches MediaMTX, the forward reaches YouTube, and YouTube reports the expected live status. Keep the stream key private during troubleshooting.
YouTube and operational checks before leaving it live
- Use content you have the rights to stream. A working relay does not grant permission to rebroadcast music, video or other copyrighted material.
- Review YouTube’s current live-streaming and monetization rules for your channel and content. Technical uptime does not ensure policy compliance or monetization; reused-content review is separate from whether a stream can be delivered.
- Monitor the source as well as the VPS. MediaMTX can forward what it receives, but it cannot supply a missing source feed.
- Set up a way to detect process or server failure and document how to restart the service and restore the destination configuration. Protect the stream key in access controls and logs.
Common MediaMTX-to-YouTube problems
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube does not accept the stream | Outdated or incorrect ingest URL/key, or malformed destination configuration. | Copy the current URL and key from YouTube and compare the destination against the current MediaMTX forwarding instructions. |
| Video-only feed is silently rejected | The stream has no audio track. | Provide both audio and video in the outgoing stream; MediaMTX explicitly documents this YouTube requirement. |
| Stream starts but drops, buffers or becomes unstable | Possible route quality, packet loss, source instability or provider transfer/fair-use limits. | Check source-to-server and server-to-YouTube behavior, resource use and the VPS plan’s actual egress terms; a 1 Gbps port label alone does not diagnose the route. |
| Forwarding works, but the video or audio needs conversion | Relay-only forwarding does not perform the required transcode or filtering. | Use an appropriate FFmpeg workflow for the conversion/filtering requirement, then validate that the server has enough CPU and network capacity. |
| Stream key appears in a screenshot, config repository or log | Secret-handling failure. | Remove public exposure, restrict access and replace the key through YouTube’s account controls if it may have been compromised. |
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a prerecorded YouTube channel stream to keep looping rather than build and operate a VPS relay, StreamNeo is the simpler managed option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It runs from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. Your upload streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card.
