There is no single best inventory platform. As of August 2026, Zoho Inventory is the best starting point for many small online businesses because it combines a free plan with transparent paid tiers. Cin7 Core is a better fit when multichannel, wholesale, warehouse, or production complexity justifies a much higher cost. Fishbowl deserves priority for QuickBooks-centered distribution and manufacturing. The right choice depends on order volume, channels, locations, accounting system, traceability, manufacturing depth, and implementation budget.
Prices and limits below were observed in August 2026 and can change. Treat the recommendations as fit-based editorial judgments, not independent product testing.

| Sortly | Simple visual and mobile stock tracking | Free; secondary reports show $49, $149, and $299 tiers | 14-day trial reported | Confirm current users, records, and features | No deep MRP or warehouse execution | Not an accounting-grade omnichannel or manufacturing platform |
| inFlow Inventory | SMBs wanting a focused inventory/order system | Not stated reliably for August 2026 | Check vendor offer | Verify channel, user, transaction, and integration limits | Depends on edition and workflow | May not cover advanced MRP, EDI, or enterprise warehousing |
| Square for Retail | POS-led brick-and-mortar retail | Approximately $49/location/month in secondary coverage | Check current Square offer | Price is a secondary signal; verify directly | No | Weak fit for manufacturing and complex wholesale operations |
| NetSuite / NetSuite WMS | Enterprise finance, operations, and multi-entity ERP | Custom quote | Sales consultation | Implementation and modules are normally quoted | Broad ERP and manufacturing options | Excessive cost and complexity for many SMBs |

What inventory-management software should actually do
A SKU counter is not automatically an inventory system. Your complete workflow may run from purchase order through receiving, putaway, location transfers, sales orders, picking, packing, shipment tracking, returns, replenishment, accounting, cycle counts, and manufacturing.
#1 Best Overall
- Larger battery enables longer continuous usage and twice the stand-by time. With the unique battery indicator light showing the remaining battery level, no more Low Battery Anxiety.

Best inventory software by use case
Zoho Inventory: best value for many small online sellers
Zoho’s US page lists annual-billing monthly prices of Free ($0), Standard ($29), Premium ($79), Plus ($129), and Enterprise ($249). The highlighted limits are respectively 50, 500, 3,000, 7,500, and 15,000 orders per month; user limits range from one to ten, and locations from one to ten. See Zoho’s pricing and product page.
Zoho advertises barcode and RFID support, batch and serial tracking, unit conversion, reorder points, reporting, permissions, multiple warehouses, shipping integrations, order management, and sales-channel synchronization. These are vendor claims, not independent test results. It is especially attractive for startups and businesses already using Zoho Books.
Do not buy it if: you need highly specialized warehouse execution, complex production planning, or enterprise governance. Confirm when your order, user, location, and integration needs will exceed the selected tier. The page offers “Watch Demo,” “Schedule a Demo,” and “Sign Up for Free.”
Cin7 Core: best for growing multichannel and wholesale operations
Cin7’s pricing page lists Standard at $349/month, Pro at $599/month, Advanced at $999/month, and Omni as custom-priced. Standard includes five users, 6,000 sales orders per year, and two ecommerce/app integrations; Pro includes ten users, 24,000 orders, four integrations, and MRP; Advanced includes 15 users, 120,000 orders, six integrations, and advanced warehouse management. Prices are US dollars before tax, and Cin7 says extra users, volume, integrations, and modules can be purchased.

Cin7 lists accounting, ecommerce, marketplace, shipping, fulfillment, POS, B2B, API, barcode, purchasing, assemblies, BOMs, batch and expiration tracking, COGS, RMA, and forecasting options. Its breadth suits wholesale, retail, and light-to-moderate manufacturing, but a single-channel seller may pay for more than needed.
Use the official demo and require your own order, receiving, transfer, return, and production scenarios rather than a polished sample catalog.

Fishbowl: best for QuickBooks-heavy distribution and manufacturing
Fishbowl’s pricing page lists Fishbowl Inventory from $229/month billed annually and Fishbowl Advanced from $595/month, with Advanced pricing affected by users and deployment. Fishbowl positions Inventory for stocking and selling finished goods, and Advanced for manufacturing, multi-warehouse, 3PL, and EDI operations.
Its published capabilities include two-way QuickBooks synchronization, barcodes, reorder points, warehouse operations, BOMs, work orders, MRP, lot/batch tracking, and compliance documentation. This is a strong shortlist candidate when QuickBooks is central, but it is likely excessive for a small retailer that only needs counts and purchase orders. Use the page’s “Request demo” route.
Katana: best when production is the central workflow
Katana is oriented toward makers and small manufacturers, with production, BOMs, purchasing, inventory, and ecommerce/accounting integrations described on its comparison page: Katana’s product comparison. Secondary coverage reports Standard at $349/month, Pro at $599/month, Advanced at $999/month, Omni custom, and a 14-day trial; those figures require confirmation on Katana’s current pricing page.

During a demo, build an item from raw materials, partially complete it, consume components, handle a shortage, and revise the BOM. Katana is a poor fit for a pure reseller that does not manufacture and may not satisfy organizations needing a broad ERP or unusual compliance controls.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Sortly: best for simple visual and mobile tracking
Sortly emphasizes visual catalogs, mobile use, and barcode or QR workflows. NerdWallet’s comparison reports a free option, paid tiers of $49, $149, and $299 per month, custom pricing, and a 14-day trial; confirm plan names and limits at purchase time. See NerdWallet’s comparison.
Sortly can suit equipment, supplies, field stock, and basic inventories where adoption matters more than procurement, valuation, manufacturing, or omnichannel order orchestration. Do not treat it as equivalent to Cin7 or Fishbowl for BOMs, MRP, EDI, advanced picking, or accounting-grade costing.
inFlow Inventory: a simpler SMB alternative to investigate
Software Advice positions inFlow as an SMB inventory and order-management product associated with relatively quick implementation. No reliable August 2026 price was established here, so verify the vendor’s current quote, users, channels, warehouses, manufacturing, integrations, and transaction limits.
Use a trial or demo to import a messy SKU file, create purchase and sales orders, receive partial quantities, and reconcile the result. Choose another platform if you need deep MRP, sophisticated enterprise warehouse management, or extensive EDI.

- Widely Compatible: Bluetooth Barcode Scanner for iPhone iPad Android Tablet PC, Support HID / SPP / BLE mode via bluetooth, Work with Windows XP/7/8/10, Mac OS, Windows Mobile, Android OS, iOS, Linux.
- Strong Recognition Ability: With the 2500 pixels high-resolution CCD sensor Engine, Rapidly decodes all 1D and stacked barcodes (including ISBN book), even worn, damaged or tightly spaced codes. Scan 1D codes directly from paper or screen, such as a computer monitor, smartphone, or tablet, or scan through glass surfaces, plastic shrink wrap, a CCD scanner is likely the best way to go.
- Automatic Scanning: NT-1228bc barcode scanner have three scanning modes: manual trigger mode, continuous scanning mode and auto-sensing scanning mode. In addition, there is a storage mode. Storage mode can be used when you are out of range of Bluetooth and wireless connectivity. Supports storage of up to 100,000 barcodes. Note: Before use, you need to scan the corresponding setting barcode on the manual.
- 2600mAh Battery Upgraded: Continuous scanning up to 200,000 times on a full charge. After a full charge the scanner can be used for one month at least, even in warehouses and at pos checkout counters where scanners are frequently used. In libraries and hospitals it can be used even longer.
- Programmable Configuration: Add custom prefixes/ suffixes, delete characters, Add keyboard keys/ combinations (terminator TAB, CR&LF, Home etc.), Enable or disable the barcode type as you want. Buzzer can be set to mute to allow for a quiet operation.(Note: It does not work with square POS / Divalto / DoorDash / Lightspeed POS system)
QuickBooks Online and Square for Retail: accounting- or POS-led alternatives
QuickBooks Online can be sensible when accounting is the center of operations, but its inventory module must be tested for locations, bundles, manufacturing, barcode workflows, purchasing, valuation, and volume. Secondary coverage reports approximately $115/month for a Plus plan; verify current Intuit pricing at purchase time. Source: Novo’s comparison.
Square for Retail is more compelling when stores and POS drive the workflow. The same secondary source reports approximately $49 per location monthly. Verify the current offer and do not select it as a substitute for production planning or complex wholesale fulfillment.
NetSuite, Linnworks, and Extensiv: when basic inventory is not enough
NetSuite or NetSuite WMS is appropriate when inventory must share finance, manufacturing, operations, and multiple entities in an ERP; it is generally quote-based and excessive for many small businesses. Linnworks or Extensiv deserve consideration when marketplace routing, fulfillment, or warehouse volume dominates the requirement. Expect custom pricing and implementation.

Windows Errors? Fix Them Before They Spread
Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallCrashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minute- Check monthly versus annual billing, taxes, included users, and extra-user charges.
- Calculate peak-month and annual orders, not only average orders.
- Price additional channels, API access, POS registers, B2B portals, advanced warehouse, forecasting, EDI, and MRP.
- Include data cleanup, migration, training, implementation consulting, barcode scanners, label printers, mobile devices, shipping, marketplace, and payment fees.
- Confirm what data and valuation history can be exported after cancellation.
A cheap plan can become expensive when its order, location, user, or integration ceiling is reached. A powerful platform can also lose financially if staff bypass it because implementation is too difficult.

Evaluate Fishbowl for QuickBooks-centered warehouse or manufacturing work. Evaluate Katana when production is the core process, Sortly for visual tracking, and an ERP when finance and operations must be unified.
Demo and trial checklist
Bring your own data or a representative sample rather than relying on vendor data.
Prepare before the meeting
- 20–50 representative SKUs, variants, bundles, and kits
- A serialized or lot-controlled item, if relevant
- Supplier lead times and two locations
- One ecommerce channel and one accounting platform
- A partially received purchase order, return, stockout, damaged quantity, and quarantine case
- A BOM or assembly if you manufacture
Require the vendor to show
- Product import and SKU mapping
- Partial purchase-order receipt with lot, serial, or expiration data
- Location transfer and available-to-promise quantities
- The same SKU sold through two channels without overselling
- Bundle or assembly creation and component consumption
- Return handling and the decision to restock, quarantine, or scrap
- Stock valuation, aging, dead-stock, and reorder reports
- Barcode cycle counting and role restrictions on adjustments
- Data export, including historical transactions and valuations
Questions that expose hidden charges
- Are extra users, integrations, API calls, channels, or order capacity billed separately?
- Are limits monthly, annual, or rolling?
- Is advanced warehouse, forecasting, MRP, EDI, or B2B functionality extra?
- Is onboarding mandatory, and is implementation done by the vendor or a partner?
- What happens to data after cancellation?
- Are taxes, shipping, payment, and marketplace fees excluded?
Migration and implementation safeguards
- Clean and deduplicate SKUs, variants, units, bundles, suppliers, and locations.
- Document opening quantities, cost basis, bins, lot/serial data, and channel mappings.
- Connect accounting and test inventory valuation and COGS with a partial receipt, freight, sale, and return.
- Label products and configure scanners, printers, mobile devices, roles, approvals, and exception procedures.
- Run cycle counts and a parallel period against the old system.
- Define rollback, export, and reconciliation procedures before switching off spreadsheets or the legacy platform.
Common failure modes
Bad master data
Inconsistent SKUs, units, bundles, suppliers, and locations produce unreliable results in any platform. Clean the item master before migration.
Recommended Free Tools
Synchronization delays
Multichannel support does not guarantee instant updates. Test simultaneous sales, reservations, API failures, and recovery behavior.
Accounting mismatch
Correct quantities do not guarantee correct valuation, COGS, landed cost, or accounting postings. Test the full receipt-to-return cycle.
Shallow manufacturing features
“Assembly” or “BOM” may mean only a kit. Test revisions, shortages, scrap, subcontracting, capacity, and traceability when those matter.
Implementation failure
Adoption fails when staff do not scan, receive, count, or close orders consistently. Include training, permissions, exception handling, and cycle-count ownership in the project plan.
Compliance assumptions
Lot or serial tracking alone does not prove regulatory compliance. Regulated operations must verify audit logs, recalls, electronic records, retention, access controls, validation, and jurisdiction-specific responsibilities.
Quick Recap
Final recommendations
- Price-sensitive small ecommerce seller: start with Zoho Inventory and test the free or Standard limits against peak volume.
- Growing multichannel or wholesale company: request a Cin7 Core demo and price every required user, channel, integration, order band, and warehouse module.
- QuickBooks-centric distributor or manufacturer: compare Fishbowl Inventory with Fishbowl Advanced using real receiving, production, and accounting scenarios.
- Maker or light manufacturer: test Katana’s production workflow, but confirm its current pricing and feature boundaries.
- Simple field or visual stock tracking: consider Sortly rather than paying for ERP-level complexity.
- Enterprise or multi-entity operation: investigate NetSuite or another ERP and budget for implementation, governance, and process redesign.
