Best Internet in Florida: How to Choose by Address

Florida’s best internet provider depends on your exact address. Use the FCC map to find reported options, then verify eligibility and compare each plan’s full terms.

There is no single best internet provider for every Florida household. Enter your exact address in the FCC National Broadband Map to see which services are reported there, then confirm availability and current terms with each provider. The map is a shortlist tool—not a rating of speed, value, or service quality.

Why the best provider depends on your address

Fixed broadband availability is reported for individual homes and small businesses. A provider listed for one Florida address may not serve another address nearby, so statewide provider names and coverage estimates cannot establish eligibility at your home.

The FCC says providers submit availability data through its Broadband Data Collection process twice a year. The map can also change as the FCC verifies information, updates location data, and receives public input. Treat its results as a starting point and verify them before ordering.

The map can show reported fiber, cable, DSL, satellite, and fixed wireless service, along with maximum advertised download and upload speeds for a location. The FCC explicitly cautions: “The National Broadband Map shows internet availability, not network performance, affordability, or adoption.” If the map appears to show service that is not actually available, or omits a service that is, the FCC provides an availability challenge process.

Which internet providers and connection types appear in Florida?

A 2026 statewide summary from Broadband Map lists providers across several technologies. Its listings are not proof that any particular home can subscribe.

  • Fiber: AT&T, Frontier, Hotwire Communications, Spectrum, Quantum Fiber, Xfinity, and Metronet.
  • Cable: Xfinity, Spectrum, WOW, Breezeline, Blue Stream, and Mediacom.
  • DSL or copper: AT&T, CenturyLink, Frontier, and Kinetic.
  • Fixed wireless: T-Mobile 5G Home, Verizon 5G Home, and AT&T Internet Air.
  • Satellite: Starlink, HughesNet, and Viasat.

The statewide summary also includes smaller local providers. Its data is based primarily on FCC Broadband Data Collection records for December 2025, published in May 2026 and revised through July 2026. Broadband Map warns that availability estimates may be overestimates.

How to interpret statewide speed and coverage figures

Broadband Map reports the following advertised maximum speeds and estimated statewide population coverage. These are aggregator figures, not FCC endorsements, guarantees of service at a specific address, or measurements of what customers actually receive.

Provider and technology Reported maximum advertised download/upload Estimated Florida population coverage
AT&T fiber 5,000/5,000 Mbps 52%
Frontier fiber 7,000/7,000 Mbps 19%
Xfinity cable 2,000 Mbps download 57%
Spectrum cable 1,000 Mbps download 38%
T-Mobile 5G Home 100/20 Mbps 98%
Verizon 5G Home 1,000/75 Mbps 97%
Starlink satellite 280/30 Mbps 100%

All figures in the table are reported by Broadband Map in 2026, using data primarily from December 2025 FCC records and with revisions through July 2026. The source cautions that availability may be overestimated. A high estimated coverage percentage does not mean every street, building, or unit is served, and an advertised maximum is not a household performance result.

How to compare the options at your home

  1. Check the exact address on the FCC map. Note the providers, connection types, and reported maximum download and upload speeds. Use these results to form a shortlist, not to decide which provider is fastest or cheapest.
  2. Confirm each provider’s eligibility. Enter the same service address in each provider’s own availability checker. For example, Frontier’s Florida page offers an availability check; Verizon directs customers to enter an address or use its map because service and price depend on local availability.
  3. Compare the actual plan terms. For each address-eligible offer, check download and upload speeds, recurring price after any introductory period, equipment and installation charges, taxes or other fees where disclosed, data limits and overage terms, contract or cancellation conditions, and any price guarantee or bundle requirement.
  4. Compare like with like. Distinguish plan speeds and advertised maximums from measured performance. Fiber, cable, DSL, fixed wireless, and satellite describe different connection types, but the label alone does not establish the performance you will get at home.
  5. Confirm details before ordering. Provider terms and eligibility can vary by address. Verify the offer and all charges directly with the provider before you commit.

Current prices, promotions, fees, data policies, and contract terms are not established as a comparable statewide set here; they need to be checked against the offers available for each address. If you plan to buy a separate router or mesh system, first check what equipment the provider supplies and what devices are compatible.

What “best” means for a Florida household

Use the available address-specific offers to choose the plan that fits your needs and total cost. The FCC map can identify reported options, but it cannot identify a universal winner for speed, affordability, reliability, or performance. No Florida home performance testing is represented by the statewide advertised-speed figures above.
