For smooth play on PC, choose an FPS target your system can hold steadily, then lower demanding visual features before sacrificing more image quality. Start at 60 FPS if it remains stable; if not, lower the target. Keep ray tracing off while troubleshooting, and treat super resolution, frame generation, and DirectX 12 as optional features whose compatibility and behavior depend on your hardware. These recommendations are for PC; mobile and console settings differ.
Start with a stable frame-rate target
A consistent frame rate generally feels smoother than a higher target that repeatedly drops. On PC, try 60 FPS first if your system can sustain it. If performance fluctuates, choose a lower available target rather than assuming that maximum FPS is best. This is a practical starting point, not a guaranteed result for every PC.

HoYoverse’s PC Visual Experience Upgrade FAQ, updated July 29, 2026, discusses 60 FPS and Unlimited specifically in its frame-generation guidance. It does not provide independent benchmarks showing a universal frame-rate gain from any preset or setting.

Ray tracing: leave it off while diagnosing performance
Ray tracing is optional, requires compatible hardware, and applies only in city scenes and selected combat scenes; other scenes return to the default global illumination setting. HoYoverse’s FAQ requires an NVIDIA 20-series-or-newer GPU with RT cores and excludes systems with less than 8GB of VRAM. If your system meets those conditions and you want to try it, the FAQ recommends pairing ray tracing with DLSS Super Resolution or FSR Super Resolution.

For its ray-tracing recommendations, HoYoverse lists these VRAM capacities and settings:

These are the publisher’s ray-tracing recommendations, not minimum requirements for playing the game or a reason by themselves to buy a graphics card. Actual compatibility and performance depend on the GPU model, supported features, driver, resolution, and the rest of the system.

Super resolution: adjust its quality level
When super resolution is enabled, HoYoverse says the anti-aliasing and rendering controls cannot be adjusted separately. Use the Super Resolution Quality Level to balance image quality and performance instead of trying to tune those unavailable controls.

Frame generation: check its prerequisites and conflicts
Frame generation is not a universal fix for stutter. HoYoverse’s FAQ says to enable Windows Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling and restart the PC before launching the game. With frame generation enabled, the super-resolution control cannot be adjusted. For the best frame-generation experience, HoYoverse recommends turning V-Sync off and setting FPS to Unlimited or 60; these are the publisher’s recommendations, not independently verified results for every system.

DirectX 12: use it only on eligible hardware
HoYoverse lists DX12 support for NVIDIA 20-series-and-newer GPUs with RT cores and AMD Radeon RX 7000/9000 series. Eligible users can switch DX12 on in the launcher; uncheck the option to return to DX11. The FAQ does not establish that DX12 is faster on every system, so switch back to DX11 if you encounter compatibility or stability problems.
How to troubleshoot low or unstable FPS
- Choose a sustainable target. Try 60 FPS; if it does not remain steady, lower the target.
- Turn off ray tracing while testing. Reassess performance before enabling it, and confirm your GPU and VRAM meet the relevant publisher guidance.
- If super resolution is active, change its quality level. Anti-aliasing and rendering cannot be separately adjusted while it is enabled.
- If using frame generation, verify the Windows prerequisite. Turn on Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling, restart, then try the recommended V-Sync and FPS settings.
- If DX12 causes problems, return to DX11. Use the launcher option; DX12 is not documented as a guaranteed performance upgrade.
Persistent stutter is not proof that one setting is responsible. The cited FAQ gives feature prerequisites and recommendations, but it does not claim that frame generation or a particular graphics option will eliminate all stutter.

Use system requirements as context, not an FPS promise
HoYoverse’s 2024 launch announcement listed a minimum PC configuration of a 7th Gen Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 970. Its recommended configuration was a 10th Gen Intel Core i7 or better, 8GB RAM or more, and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660 or better. Those launch-era requirements are not current benchmark results or a guarantee that a system will hold a particular frame rate. HoYoverse recommended an SSD for installation, but the announcement does not say that an SSD increases FPS. See the launch requirements announcement.
PC, mobile, and console settings are not interchangeable
PC
The DX12, ray-tracing, super-resolution, and frame-generation guidance above concerns eligible Windows GPU configurations. Check the compatibility details in HoYoverse’s PC Visual Experience Upgrade FAQ before enabling those features.

Android and iOS
HoYoverse’s launch announcement lists mobile device and operating-system requirements, but it does not establish current mobile graphics presets or device-specific FPS guidance. Do not apply PC-only feature steps to a phone or tablet.
PS5 and PS5 Pro
Console guidance depends on the console and game version. In a December 6, 2024 PlayStation Blog post about version 1.4, HoYoverse technical lead Cross Shi reported native 4K and 60 FPS simultaneously on PS5 Pro, with average frame rate increasing by nearly ten frames. That dated developer report concerns PS5 Pro; it is not a performance claim for PC, base PS5, or later builds. Read the version 1.4 announcement.
