A 450W power supply can support some graphics cards, but the label alone cannot confirm that a particular card will work in your PC. Treat the PSU figures below as screening guidance: check the exact card model’s manufacturer recommendation for your processor tier, its required PCIe power connector, and your case clearance before buying.
Which graphics cards are plausible choices for a 450W PSU?
Manufacturer guidance identifies some GTX 1650 variants and the RTX 3050 8GB as candidates to investigate. These figures are not guarantees for every card carrying the same family name.

| Card family | Published power guidance | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| GeForce GTX 1650 variants | NVIDIA lists 300W minimum system power for some variants in its GeForce comparison table. | A 450W PSU clears that listed minimum on paper, but verify the exact board’s requirements, connectors, and the rest of the system. |
| GeForce RTX 3050 8GB | ASUS lists a 450W recommended PSU across several CPU tiers in its Recommended PSU Table. | This matches the PSU’s rated wattage, not necessarily every RTX 3050 8GB card or every PC. Check the exact manufacturer SKU and CPU tier. |
These are starting points, not a performance or value ranking. Current prices, availability, and comparative benchmarks are not established here, so choose between specific cards based on your workload and local options after they pass the compatibility checks.

A graphics card’s board power or average gaming power describes the card under a stated condition; a system PSU recommendation accounts for the computer as a whole. The processor and other components affect system demand, and NVIDIA says its system-power guidance depends on the reference configuration. It also notes that specifications can vary by add-in-board manufacturer (NVIDIA GeForce comparison).
#1 Best Overall
- Chipset: NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030
- Video Memory: 4GB DDR4
- Boost Clock: 1430 MHz
- Memory Interface: 64-bit
- Output: DisplayPort x 1 (v1.4a) / HDMI 2.0b x 1
For example, NVIDIA’s 2023 RTX 4060 guide gives 110W average gaming power, but that figure alone does not certify a 450W PSU for an RTX 4060 system. NVIDIA directs buyers to check system power and cable compatibility for the specific setup (RTX 4060 product guide). AMD’s RX 7600 Quick Setup Guide calls for a minimum 550W system PSU, so it is not a general recommendation for a 450W supply (AMD RX 7600 Quick Setup Guide).
How to check whether a specific card will work
- Find the exact card SKU. Use the board manufacturer’s product page, not just the GPU family name. Compare its PSU guidance with your system’s processor tier and configuration.
- Check the PSU’s native PCIe cable. Confirm the exact number and type of power connectors the card requires and that your PSU has a compatible native cable. An adapter does not make an undersized or unsuitable PSU adequate.
- Verify physical fit. Compare the card’s length and slot width with the space available in your case, including clearance around nearby components.
- Check the PSU itself. A 450W label does not establish the condition or quality of an old, damaged, or nonconforming unit. The cited manufacturer guidance does not assess an individual PSU or guarantee system stability.
- Match the card to the workload. Once compatibility checks pass, compare memory capacity and the performance your games or applications need. Price and local stock also vary and should be checked for the exact models you are considering.
When a 450W PSU is not enough to make the call
Do not assume a card is suitable solely because its family has a low-power variant or because its typical gaming draw looks modest. A higher-power processor, a different board design, a missing required connector, case constraints, or PSU condition can change the result. Manufacturer figures are declared guidance, not tests of your individual computer.

- Powered by NVIDIA GeForce GT 610, 40nm chipset process with 523MHz core frequency, integrated with 2048MB DDR3 memory and 64-bit bus width
- Compatible with windows 11 system, no need to download driver manually
- HDMI / VGA 2 ports output available. HDMI Max Resolution-2560x1600, VGA Max Resolution-2048x1536
- Support DirectX 11, OpenCL, CUDA, DirectCompute 5.0
- Original half height bracket matches with the low profile brackets make the Glorto GeForce GT 610 graphics card fit well with all PC tower, small form factor and HTPC(except micro form factor)
If the exact card’s manufacturer specifies a higher PSU rating for your processor tier, follow that guidance rather than treating the family-level examples above as an exception. If the card maker does not state a comparable requirement, the available figures do not establish that your particular setup is supported; seek the exact SKU documentation before purchase.
