These recommendations follow the Ryujinx Setup & Configuration Guide, which says the emulator is pre-optimized by default and advises against changing settings without a specific reason. The archived Ryujinx FAQ also recommends defaults and Vulkan where supported.

How to tune graphics without trading away stability
1. Start with defaults and choose the graphics API
Use Ryujinx’s defaults as your baseline, then select Vulkan if your GPU supports it. The documented graphics APIs include OpenGL 4.5, Vulkan, and Metal through MoltenVK. No single API is guaranteed to work best on every hardware and driver combination. If Vulkan produces a reproducible rendering or stability issue, compare another supported API rather than changing several graphics options at once.

2. Set resolution scaling to match your display
For a standard 1080p display, Ryujinx’s current setup guide recommends 2× scaling. Scaling above native can make the image sharper, but it increases the rendering workload and can contribute to memory or stability problems. Use the highest scale that remains stable on your own system—not the highest value available. If performance falters or GPU memory runs short, step down toward native resolution. Do not treat 4× as a universal recommendation.
The trade-off is practical: higher scale favors image sharpness; lower scale can ease GPU load and memory pressure. The Ryujinx Graphics Enhancements Guide, published November 15, 2024, also cautions that resolution scaling and anisotropic filtering can cause glitches in some games.

3. Keep shader caching and PPTC enabled
Shader caching stores compiled shaders so they do not need to be repeatedly compiled, which can reduce related stutter or frame drops on later plays. PPTC is a separate feature with a documented load-time benefit: reach the title screen or beyond on two launches, and the improvement is available from the third launch onward. That is not a promise of a higher gameplay frame rate.

4. Add optional enhancements one at a time
Anisotropic filtering and other graphics enhancements may improve image quality, but can also introduce artifacts. Change one option, check the result in the game, and keep it only if the image remains correct and performance stable. If glitches appear, restore the last changed option to its default before testing anything else.

5. Keep the aspect ratio intact
Use the expected game proportions where possible. An aspect-ratio adjustment may help fit a particular display, but stretching the picture can distort characters and scenery; fitting the screen is not worth that trade-off if image proportions matter to you.
What to try if performance or memory becomes a problem
- Uneven frame delivery or instability: reduce resolution scaling toward native before changing multiple settings.
- Graphical artifacts: return optional enhancements, including anisotropic filtering or scaling changes, to defaults one at a time.
- Vulkan-specific issue: compare another graphics API supported by the system and check whether the same issue remains.
- High VRAM use: an archived Ryujinx FAQ names Super Mario Bros. Wonder among games using ASTC textures and suggests recompression as a possible troubleshooting measure. Treat this as an older, conditional tip: current official setup pages do not independently establish that the exact option or behavior is unchanged in every build.
Hardware expectations and what performance claims mean
Ryujinx’s setup guide lists at least 8 GB of RAM and a GPU supporting OpenGL 4.5 or Vulkan 1.2 or higher among its minimum requirements. It gives a Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB DDR4, and NVIDIA GTX 1060 6 GB as an illustrative baseline for native resolution and frame rate. That is a general emulator example, not a Wonder-specific minimum or a guarantee of 60 fps at any resolution.

The authoritative sources cited here do not provide a reproducible current PC benchmark for this game or a tested hardware tier for a particular upscaled resolution and frame rate. Actual emulation performance varies with emulator build, CPU, GPU, drivers, operating system, and scale; no particular graphics card can be promised to deliver smooth 60 fps from these figures alone.

Ryujinx’s setup guide requires users to provide their own dumped Nintendo Switch games and system files; the emulator does not supply the commercial game. Nintendo’s listing describes the original release’s TV, tabletop, and handheld play modes, and lists one-to-four players for single-system and online play. Ryujinx documents keyboard, mouse, Joy-Con, and broad controller support, but compatibility depends on the device and configuration.
Nintendo’s support page lists version 1.2.1, released April 15, 2026, as an update with adjustments and fixes for the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Update details can change, so that version note describes Nintendo’s support page as reviewed October 7, 2026—not a PC or emulator update.
