Its RTX 5090 recommendation is High at up to 4K. In all three cases, start with DLSS Super Resolution on Auto and choose a frame-generation mode to suit your display and preferred frame-rate behavior. These are developer recommendations and estimates, not independent benchmark results.
Recommended path-tracing settings by GPU
IO Interactive’s patch 1.2.2 gives these configuration-specific targets. Its estimated frame rates can vary by mission and checkpoint.

| GPU named by IO Interactive | Path tracing | Fullscreen resolution | DLSS Super Resolution | Frame generation | Developer’s estimate |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| RTX 5070 | Medium | 1080p | Auto | Multi Frame Generation from 2x, or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation | Around 60 fps. IO Interactive says 2x Frame Generation with DLSS Auto should allow consistent play above 60 fps. |
| RTX 5080 | Medium | 1440p | Auto | Multi Frame Generation from 2x, or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation | Around 60 fps. IO Interactive says 2x Frame Generation with DLSS Auto should allow consistent play above 60 fps. |
| RTX 5090 | High | Up to 4K | Auto | Multi Frame Generation from 2x up to 6x, or Dynamic Multi Frame Generation | IO Interactive says RTX 5090 cards can reach 200+ fps with 6x Frame Generation. |
These figures come from IO Interactive’s September 25, 2026 patch 1.2.2 notes; they are estimates, not controlled third-party tests. The 200+ fps figure with 6x Frame Generation is a displayed frame-rate estimate, not a claim of 200+ natively rendered frames per second. IO Interactive describes 6x mode as generating five frames for each rendered frame.

- Update 007 First Light and your graphics driver. NVIDIA recommends its current GeForce Game Ready driver for the path-tracing and Ray Reconstruction update.
- Open Options → Graphics and use the restore-to-defaults action before changing settings.
- Set VSync according to your display and preference. IO Interactive identifies this as display-dependent rather than prescribing one setting for everyone.
- Choose the path-tracing tier and fullscreen resolution listed for your GPU in the table above.
- Set Resolution Scaling to NVIDIA DLSS, then set DLSS Super Resolution to Auto.
- Enable Multi Frame Generation and select a multiplier that suits you, or use Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to adjust the multiplier toward a consistent frame-rate target.
The patch supplies this path-tracing guidance, but it does not give equivalent specific settings for texture quality, motion blur, field of view, other shadow controls, or non-RTX cards. Avoid treating an unlisted configuration as an official recommendation.

Why Medium is the starting point for RTX 5070 and 5080
IO Interactive says High path tracing uses higher-quality shading, more detailed reflections, and more light bounces, making it very resource-intensive. The developer recommends Medium for a balanced experience except on an RTX 5090, for which it names High. That makes Medium the sensible starting choice on the RTX 5070 and 5080 at their specified resolutions; High is the option to try on the named RTX 5090 when visual accuracy is the priority.
Path tracing and Ray Reconstruction arrived in the September 15 update. NVIDIA describes these technologies as improving lighting, shadows, reflections, and reconstruction fidelity. The visual gains come with a substantial performance trade-off at the High path-tracing tier, and the exact result can differ between scenes.

Choosing frame generation without confusing displayed and rendered FPS
Multi Frame Generation inserts generated frames between rendered frames, so a higher displayed FPS does not mean the GPU is rendering that many complete frames. The difference matters when judging responsiveness: IO Interactive’s patch provides frame-rate guidance but does not quantify latency. Choose a multiplier based on how the game feels on your system and the behavior you want, rather than treating a generated-frame total as a measure of native rendering speed.

What the launch-era PC requirements do—and do not—tell you
IO Interactive’s January 6, 2026 announcement listed launch-era minimum specifications of 1080p/30 fps, a GTX 1660- or RX 5700-class GPU, and 16 GB RAM. Its recommended launch target was 1080p/60 fps with an RTX 3060 Ti- or RX 6700 XT-class GPU and 32 GB RAM. Those specifications predate the September path-tracing update, so they are not path-tracing recommendations and should not be combined with the later RTX 50-series settings as one universal GPU chart. The launch figures are available in the developer’s PC specifications announcement.
The September patch also notes fixes for reported performance issues, including scene-specific corrections. Performance guidance should therefore be read in the context of the updated build, rather than assumed to apply unchanged to every earlier version.
