1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteThere is no single best setting for every Halo: Campaign Evolved player. On PC, start with a graphics preset, then tune resolution scaling, frame-rate behavior, and visual effects to match your hardware and display. On Xbox Series X|S, check the in-game Video and Accessibility menus: official guidance confirms platform-specific options, but does not establish particular Xbox graphics modes, resolutions, or frame rates.
Best PC graphics settings: start with the trade-off you want
Halo Support documents eight individual graphics quality options. Choose a preset as a baseline, then adjust settings individually rather than assuming one preset suits every PC. Prioritize image clarity if your system has spare performance; reduce rendering demands when frame stability matters more.

Resolution scale and Minimum Frame Rate
Resolution scale can be set from 50% to 200% of your display resolution in 10% increments. Lowering it can improve frame rate when the system is not CPU-limited, while raising it above 100% can sharpen the image at a potentially substantial performance cost. For details, see Halo Support’s PC graphics options guide.

Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallMinimum Frame Rate offers targets from 30 to 240 FPS in 30-FPS increments. It dynamically adjusts internal resolution to try to maintain the selected target. This can help smooth demanding scenes, but the image may visibly change as resolution shifts; an overly ambitious target can make those changes more noticeable. If clarity matters more than dynamic adjustment, set Minimum Frame Rate to None.

Choose an upscaling option for image quality or performance
For the least altered image using an upscaler, Halo Support recommends Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) with Minimum Frame Rate set to None. The support guide describes TSR as using temporal information and says this combination behaves similarly to TAA without dynamic resolution. You can raise render scale above 100% for additional sharpness if your PC has the headroom.
A distinction matters: the August 17, 2026 patch notes for build 2026.08.11.1121610 added an Upscaling Technique option named None. That setting disables upscaling and anti-aliasing completely. Native quality, by contrast, removes resolution upscaling but retains image reconstruction, anti-aliasing, and other processing. See the August 17, 2026 patch notes.
Available technologies depend on hardware and storefront. Halo Support says FSR 3 is available on all hardware; FSR 4 is automatically enabled on supported AMD RDNA 4 / RX 9000 graphics cards. XeSS is available on all hardware, though it may provide limited performance gains on non-Intel hardware, and is only available on the Steam version. TSR is described as universally compatible and does not support frame generation. These options are not interchangeable guarantees of the same image or performance.
Balance smoothness, latency, and screen tearing
Several PC settings affect different parts of the experience, so change them according to what you notice rather than treating them as a single performance switch.
- Frame generation: Available only when the hardware supports it with the selected upscaling technique. It is not available with TSR.
- Vendor Specific low-latency mode: Automatically selects NVIDIA Reflex, AMD Anti-Lag, or Intel Xe Low Latency based on PC hardware.
- VSync: Can reduce or remove tearing, but may add input delay and cap frame rate. Turning it off can allow higher, more responsive frame rates, with tearing as a possible trade-off.
- Async compute: May help when the GPU is the bottleneck and may slightly hurt when the CPU is the bottleneck. Try it on your own hardware.
- Frame-rate limit: Capping frame rate can reduce processor load, power use, and heat while improving frame pacing.
Halo Support explains these PC technology options in its PC technology guide. If performance fluctuates, first try a less demanding target or lower resolution scale; if tearing is the issue, test VSync and decide whether its potential delay is acceptable.

Accessibility settings for comfort, readability, and sensory needs
The official accessibility guide lists options for visual comfort, text and narration, color, HUD presentation, and input. Availability can vary by platform, so check the menus on the system you use. The guide is Halo Support’s accessibility features page.
Motion, brightness, and display
- Adjust first- and third-person field of view from 65 to 120 degrees.
- Change screen shake, motion blur, HUD parallax, flashing effects, and damage-screen effects to reduce unwanted movement or visual intensity.
- Use brightness and contrast controls to suit the display and room. HDR controls apply to HDR-capable displays.
- Animated-menu controls are also available.
Text, narration, and color
- Adjust subtitle size, weight, spacing, and opacity; HUD text and opacity also have controls.
- Use the screen narrator’s volume and speed controls if narration is useful.
- Color-vision filters are provided for deuteranopia, protanopia, and tritanopia.
- Customize colors for the crosshair, navigation, teammate markers, subtitles, and motion tracker.
Personalize controller or mouse-and-keyboard controls
There is no source-backed universal sensitivity value. Change one control at a time, play long enough to judge it, and keep the setting that feels comfortable.
- Controller: Customize button layouts and bindings, stick layouts and inversion, horizontal and vertical sensitivity, dead zones, look acceleration, auto-look centering, vibration, and trigger effects.
- Mouse and keyboard: Customize single and double bindings, horizontal and vertical sensitivity, mouse smoothing, and mouse acceleration parameters.
Do gameplay modifiers affect achievements?
Halo Support documents four customizable modifier presets and warns that using any gameplay modifier preset prevents certain achievements and trophies. To earn all achievements and trophies, choose None for the presets and make sure every member of the fireteam has them turned off. This warning concerns gameplay modifier presets; it does not say that ordinary accessibility options such as subtitles or narration disable achievements. See Halo Support’s difficulty modifiers guide.
What Xbox players should—and should not—assume
Halo Waypoint lists Xbox Series X|S as a supported platform. The official accessibility guide notes that some options are platform-specific, so inspect the in-game Video and Accessibility menus to see what your console build offers. The official material cited here does not establish Xbox graphics presets, resolution targets, or frame-rate modes. PC advice about upscalers, resolution scale, and PC latency technologies should not be treated as confirmed Xbox settings. The platform listing is on Halo Waypoint.
