They are different kinds of apps, so start with your books—not the phone model.
Which ebook app should you choose?

Kindle: for books in your Amazon account
Kindle is a good fit if you already buy ebooks through Amazon or want to read that library on your Galaxy phone. You do not need a Kindle e-reader: the Android app can access Amazon books on the phone. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy reading guidance says, “With the Kindle app, you can sync books from your Amazon account to your phone.” Samsung’s reading guidance and the Kindle app listing describe features including adjustable reading settings, notes, highlights, bookmarks, and syncing reading progress and annotations across devices. Amazon’s catalogue also includes audiobooks, magazines, comics, and manga.

Libby: borrow from a participating library
Libby is the option to try if you want to borrow instead of buying individual titles. Sign in with a card from a participating library, then browse that library’s ebook and audiobook collection. You can download items for offline use or stream them, and the app syncs reading progress across devices. See the Libby app listing for current app details.

Kobo Books: for the Kobo store and ecosystem
Kobo Books suits readers who want to purchase ebooks through Kobo, are considering Kobo Plus, or move between the Kobo app, web reader, and an e-reader. Its listing describes ebook and audiobook collections, reading controls, and automatic progress syncing across those endpoints. Audiobooks are available only in select countries, and subscription terms and catalogue access can vary by market. Confirm the current details for your country in the Kobo Books app listing and Kobo’s service before choosing it.
Moon+ Reader: for your own files and more controls
Moon+ Reader is aimed at people who already have ebook files or want extensive control over how they read. Its listing names support for EPUB, PDF, DJVU, AZW3, MOBI, CBZ, and CBR, among other formats, as well as themes, typography settings, annotations, dictionary and translation tools, and cloud backup or reading-position sync. Check the Moon+ Reader app listing for its current format and feature details.

Some features, including ad-free reading and text-to-speech, are listed as Pro benefits. The app listing says All Files Access lets the app manage ebook documents in device folders and save PDF annotations. If you enable that permission, consider whether that file access fits how you use the app.
How to decide on a Samsung phone
- Identify where your books come from. Start with an existing Amazon or Kobo account, a participating library card, or files stored on your phone or another service.
- Check the kind of access you want. Kindle and Kobo center on their respective content ecosystems; Libby lends items from libraries; Moon+ Reader opens personal files.
- Confirm the features that matter. Check sync destinations, supported formats, offline access, and any Pro-only features in the app listing before moving your reading routine.
- Check regional availability. Library collections, Libby’s Kindle transfer, Kobo audiobooks, and subscription terms vary by provider or country.
- Adjust Galaxy reading comfort. Samsung Galaxy display and accessibility settings can also help make reading more comfortable; available settings vary by phone and software version. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy reading guidance covers reading options.
