There is no official, evidence-backed sensitivity preset that is best for every Fortnite Zero Build player. Choose settings for your input device, then adjust sensitivity in small steps until you can track targets and turn with control. For audio, Epic’s 2026 competitive PC guide recommends starting with 3D Headphones and Visualize Sound Effects; those suggestions are PC-focused, not a proven Zero Build formula.
Open the settings for the input device you use
From the in-game menu, select the gear icon, then open the tab for your input method. On PC or Mac, press Esc; on PlayStation, press Options; on Xbox, press Menu; on Switch, press +. Mouse-and-keyboard players use the arrow-keys icon, while controller players use the gamepad icon. On PC, you can also select a controller in Controller Configuration. Fortnite separates mouse and keyboard sensitivity, keyboard bindings, controller sensitivity and deadzone, and controller mapping into different settings areas. Volume settings, including sound quality and voice chat, are separate as well. Epic’s menu documentation describes these categories. If an option is missing, check that the selected game mode is correct: available settings can depend on the mode.
Set sensitivity by input, not by someone else’s preset
Epic’s reviewed official material does not establish a Zero Build-specific sensitivity benchmark. A value that suits one player may feel too fast or too slow for another, and mouse sensitivity guidance should not be treated as a controller recommendation.

Mouse and keyboard
Epic’s 2026 guide to competitive play on PC suggests setting mouse X- and Y-axis sensitivity in the 5–10% range. This is a general PC competitive starting point—not a tested result, a Zero Build-specific prescription, or a range for controllers. Read Epic Games Store’s PC settings guide.
Controller
Use the controller sensitivity and deadzone controls rather than copying a mouse value. For aim assist, Epic gives this navigation path: Controller options > Sensitivity > Use Advanced Options > Aim Assist, then select Apply. Epic does not prescribe an aim-assist amount in that guidance, and notes that some settings may not be available on every platform. See Epic’s aim-assist instructions.

A practical way to calibrate
This is a practical adjustment method, not an Epic-prescribed test: change one value at a time and try it in a low-pressure practice setting. If your aim regularly passes beyond the target, try a small reduction; if turning feels laborious, try a small increase. Keep a change only if tracking and turning feel controlled.

In a guide published April 30, 2026, Epic Games Store author Dave Tach writes: “Most of Fortnite’s audio settings are personal preference, but two stand out.” The guide’s two recommendations are aimed at competitive PC play, so treat them as starting points rather than settings proven best for Zero Build.

Epic describes Fortnite’s built-in binaural audio as creating a 3D headphone sound experience and advises using it instead of third-party audio software running in the background. The effect is intended for headphones; try it and keep it on if the directional sound suits your setup.
- Visualize Sound Effects: On. Epic says this setting displays a radial indicator for the direction of certain in-game sounds. Check whether the visual cues help you; they may also be useful for players with hearing impairments.
Epic accessibility support says 3D audio features may help headphone users pinpoint enemy direction and describes visual cues for players with hearing impairments. Epic’s audio recommendation gives headphone users a reason to try 3D Headphones, but it does not establish that a particular headset is superior or required. If you are choosing headphones, consider platform compatibility, comfort for your usual session length, wired versus wireless preference, and whether you want an integrated microphone.
