For a sequence of local cartoon files, use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer with a formal ffconcat list, then add -stream_loop -1 to repeat that input indefinitely. The playlist format decides which files FFmpeg reads and in what order; it does not decide whether YouTube receives the stream over RTMP or HLS.
Use an ffconcat list for sequential local video files
The concat demuxer is the straightforward choice when you want FFmpeg to play a list of local files in order. Create a plain-text file such as cartoons.ffconcat. Its first line must be exactly ffconcat version 1.0, followed by one file directive for each video:

file 'cartoon-episode-03.mp4'Place the list and videos where FFmpeg can find them, and use paths appropriate to your setup. With the list prepared, an illustrative input fragment is:
ffmpeg -re -stream_loop -1 -f concat -i cartoons.ffconcat ...Here, -f concat selects the concat demuxer, -i supplies the list, and -stream_loop -1 requests infinite repetition of that input. The ellipsis is intentional: this is an input sketch, not a complete YouTube streaming command. Output mapping, encoding, frame rate, keyframe cadence, audio settings, and the RTMP or HLS destination depend on the media files, FFmpeg build, and YouTube stream configuration. No end-to-end command is established here.

Check the files before relying on a continuous sequence
A valid list does not make different videos compatible. Before using a cartoon library for a continuous broadcast, check that its files have compatible streams, time bases, codecs, and other relevant parameters. The concat syntax alone does not establish that a particular set of episodes will join seamlessly; mismatches can require preparation or conversion, which must be determined for the actual files.
Keep the list paths safe and portable
The concat demuxer enables its safe option by default. Under that behavior, unsafe paths and directives are rejected, and paths are expected to be relative and use a portable character set. FFmpeg’s documentation shows absolute filenames separately. Do not disable safety for a playlist you do not trust: a list can contain directives, not just harmless filenames. Looping does not supervise the stream
-stream_loop -1 repeats the input at FFmpeg’s input level. It does not restart FFmpeg after a crash, restore an internet connection, or guarantee that YouTube keeps a broadcast open. Those are separate operational and service-recovery concerns. The option’s behavior is documented in the FFmpeg advanced options documentation.

An .ffconcat file is a local input list that tells FFmpeg which files to read sequentially. An .m3u8 can instead be an HLS playlist referring to media segments. FFmpeg’s HLS muxer creates a playlist and segment files; that is a different role from listing cartoon episodes for input. Choosing a local playlist format does not, by itself, select YouTube’s ingest protocol.

Choose YouTube’s ingest protocol separately
For an ordinary local cartoon playlist, decide between RTMP and HLS based on the video and audio needs, latency tolerance, encoder support, and willingness to meet HLS’s segment requirements. YouTube positions HLS as useful for HDR or codecs not supported by RTMP and notes that HLS has higher latency because it sends video in segments rather than as a continuous RTMP stream. Consult YouTube’s HLS ingestion requirements before selecting it.

- Use TS segments with durations between 1 and 4 seconds.
- Use a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments.
- Send segments using HTTPS POST or PUT.
- Do not use byte ranges.
- Use a listed video codec: H.264 or HEVC. Listed audio codecs are AAC, AC3, or EAC3.
A generic VOD .m3u8 setup is not evidence that a live output meets these conditions. Confirm that the FFmpeg output and delivery behavior comply with YouTube’s current requirements.
Keep rights and YouTube channel rules in view
Only stream cartoons and audio you have the right to broadcast. A continuously looping playlist does not change copyright obligations, and permission to watch or possess a video does not necessarily include permission to retransmit it. Check the rights for every episode, soundtrack, and other included material before going live. Also review YouTube’s current live-streaming and monetization policies for your channel; the playlist format itself does not establish policy compliance.
