For a performance-focused starting point in Deadlock, use your display’s native resolution and highest usable refresh rate, set shadows and fog to Low, turn Screen space AO Off, and keep textures at Medium. If you still need rendering relief, test an available 1.5x scaling option. These are starting choices, not a universally optimal or benchmarked preset; the effect depends on your hardware and which options it exposes.
Which Deadlock settings should you start with for more FPS?
Begin with targeted graphics cuts that reduce selected effects without immediately lowering the resolution sent to your display. The current recommendations below are a baseline, not a promise of a particular frame-rate gain.

What does 1.5x scaling mean in Deadlock?
Scaling reduces the size at which the game renders internally, then reconstructs the image for display. The “1.5x” label identifies a scaling mode; it does not tell you how many additional frames per second your system will produce. Treat it as a trial after the targeted cuts above if you need more rendering relief, and compare image clarity as well as performance.

NVIDIA DLSS requires a GeForce RTX GPU. Which scaling modes appear depends on the system, so use the options actually available in your settings rather than assuming every PC has the same choices. The current guide does not supply universal performance gains for any mode: Deadlock settings guidance.
How should you compare settings on your PC?
- Enable advanced settings in Deadlock’s video or graphics settings, then apply the baseline choices above.
- Use the same warmed-up gameplay scene for each comparison. Keep the scene and other settings as consistent as possible.
- Show FPS and frame-time telemetry if available. The current guide interprets the frame-time display as the worst recent frame time and FPS as the current average; it is not an exported 1% low.
- Change one setting at a time, observe the result, and keep the change only if its performance or image-quality trade-off suits you.
- If lowering resolution makes little difference, do not treat that alone as proof that the CPU is the limit. The comparison does not isolate every possible bottleneck.
This process follows the current guide’s advice; it is not a substitute for a controlled benchmark.

Should you enable NVIDIA Reflex and VSync?
Start NVIDIA Reflex at Enabled if the option is available. For VSync, choose based on whether avoiding tearing or prioritizing responsiveness matters more to you:

- Tear-free G-Sync setup: Use a sync configuration suited to that goal instead of assuming the same VSync choice fits every display.
Choose an in-game frame cap that your system can sustain and that fits your sync setup; there is no supported universal cap number. The current guide provides no FPS or latency measurements for these choices: Deadlock settings guide.

Which display and rendering options should you use?
Native output resolution and the highest usable display refresh rate are sensible starting points. Do not assume one display mode or rendering/API choice is best for everyone: the current guide recommends retaining a working setup rather than asserting a universal winner. Older ProSettings advice treats window mode as a preference, but its page was last modified March 5, 2026, before Deadlock’s September update. Use it only as supplementary context, not as a current performance rule: ProSettings Deadlock settings.
How should you tune controls and visibility?
There is no universal mouse sensitivity or crosshair setting. Choose sensitivity that lets you aim precisely, then test it in actual play. Use a crosshair that stays visible against the environments you encounter without obscuring targets.

Deadlock’s September 29, 2026 “City Never Sleeps” update added dedicated accessibility settings for visuals, audio, and controls, including enemy UI color customization, subtitle customization, reduced camera shake, and reticle color options. It also added a 21:9 inset HUD option. These can help tailor readability and comfort; the update notes report rendering and audio performance improvements but do not give a measured FPS increase. See Valve’s September 29, 2026 update notes. ProSettings’ control recommendations predate that update, so check the current in-game controls and accessibility options first.

What changed in the September 2026 update?
Valve dated the “City Never Sleeps” update September 29, 2026. Alongside the accessibility and HUD options, its notes report rendering and audio performance improvements without quantifying an FPS change. Those notes do not establish how much faster the game runs on a particular PC, so judge performance using your own consistent comparison rather than attributing a specific gain to the patch: official Deadlock update notes.
