For a complete front-and-rear setup, the VIOFO A229 Pro 2CH is a strong all-round candidate: VIOFO specifies 4K recording at the front and 2K at the rear, with HDR on both cameras. It is not a proven universal winner—there is no single head-to-head test of every current dual-camera kit in the cited sources. Choose the A329 if you value 4K 60fps front recording and expanded storage, or consider Garmin’s modular X310 and Mini 3 pairing if separate cameras suit your installation better.
Which front-and-rear dash cam should you choose?

| VIOFO A329 two-camera bundle | TechRadar describes 4K 60fps front and 2K rear recording. | More involved wiring; supports microSD up to 512GB and external SSD storage up to 4TB according to TechRadar. Reviewers flag its cost and bulk. | Drivers who prioritize a higher front frame rate and more storage options and accept extra setup. |
| Garmin X310 plus Mini 3 | Digital Camera World describes this compatible-camera pairing for front-and-rear coverage; the X310 alone is not a bundled rear-camera kit. | Each camera needs its own power supply. Some features require a subscription; check current terms. | Drivers who prefer separate cameras over a rear camera connected by a long cable. |

Its product page also lists dual-band Wi-Fi, built-in GPS, buffered parking mode, and optional microSD storage up to 512GB. VIOFO lists its HK4 hardwire kit as compatible. When the VIOFO A329 or Garmin pairing makes more sense
VIOFO A329: higher front frame rate and expanded storage
TechRadar describes the A329 two-camera bundle as recording 4K at 60fps at the front and 2K at the rear. Its guide says it supports microSD cards up to 512GB and external SSDs up to 4TB, and praises footage quality while noting the system’s higher cost, bulk, and more involved wiring. Those tradeoffs make it a premium alternative rather than the default for every everyday driver. See TechRadar’s dash-cam guide for its review details.
Garmin X310 plus Mini 3: a modular two-camera setup
Digital Camera World says the X310 can synchronize with compatible Garmin cameras and gives pairing it with a Mini 3 as an example of front-and-rear coverage. This is a combination of separate cameras, not an X310 package with a rear camera. Each unit needs a separate power supply, and some features require a subscription; check current subscription terms and the exact camera compatibility before purchase. What matters beyond resolution
Night footage and plate visibility
A resolution label alone does not establish whether footage will capture a readable license plate in your driving conditions. MotorTrend includes adequate day and night visibility to capture plates among its evaluation expectations. Compare independent sample footage from both cameras, especially at night, and consider HDR, field of view, and where each camera can be mounted.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesMotorTrend’s 2026 guide names the Garmin X310 its overall pick and the Rove R2-4K Dual Pro for night performance, but those labels do not establish that each is a front-and-rear kit. The guide reports its own X310 test ranges of 65 feet by day and 25 feet at night; these are publisher test results, not a guarantee of plate recognition in every vehicle or situation. Use its criteria—setup, footage transfer, and day/night visibility—as evaluation points rather than treating the overall ranking as a dual-channel ranking. Rear camera type and cable route
Bundled rear cameras generally require routing a cable through the vehicle. Before buying, check whether the rear unit is intended for interior-glass mounting or exterior use; weatherproof rear-camera variants are not established for every model discussed here. During installation, follow the vehicle and camera manuals, and keep wiring clear of airbags and driver controls.
Parking mode and power
Parking recording can involve more than enabling a menu setting. For the A229 Pro, VIOFO lists buffered parking mode and HK4 hardwire-kit compatibility. Verify the exact camera, kit, vehicle power setup, and installation instructions before relying on parked recording.
