Intercom Fin adds an AI agent to an existing helpdesk; Zendesk AI extends a service desk; Salesforce Agentforce for Service sits within Service Cloud; Amazon Connect Customer combines AI with contact-center capabilities; and Google Cloud Agent Assist helps human representatives. The best fit depends on whether you need customer-facing automation, agent assistance, or a broader service platform—and whether your likely bill is driven by outcomes, messages, minutes, emails, or seats.
The comparison below uses vendor-published product and pricing information available in 2026. It is a shortlist organized by operating model, not a performance ranking: the available evidence does not establish a controlled, comparable benchmark across these products.

Prices are vendor-published figures, not complete deployment estimates. AWS says its rates can vary by region, communication type and third-party provider; Google’s rates depend on SKU and onboarding date; Intercom’s outcome terms and minimums depend on configuration; and Salesforce’s listed price is subject to change. #1 Best Overall
Five conversational AI platforms, by operating model
1. Intercom Fin AI Agent: add customer-facing AI to an existing helpdesk
Fin is a customer-facing AI agent for handling support conversations. Its fit is especially clear for teams that want to add an AI layer while keeping an existing helpdesk: Intercom says Fin can work with tools such as Salesforce. That makes it different from buying an entirely new service desk or contact-center foundation.
Intercom lists Fin at $0.99 per outcome. It says an outcome may count when a customer confirms a resolution, does not ask for more help after an answer, or a workflow completes. A conversation is charged once even if it includes multiple questions. For the existing-helpdesk configuration, Intercom gives an example minimum monthly commitment of 50 outcomes and lists no seat, setup, integration or platform fees for that configuration. Those terms should not be generalized to other configurations or contracts.
Intercom says all its plans include access to Intercom and Fin, but that does not make Fin usage free: outcomes are separately charged at the stated rate. The outcome model is useful to compare against per-message or per-seat pricing, but teams should understand precisely which events count as outcomes before estimating spend.

- Standout fit: customer-facing automation alongside an existing helpdesk.
- Cost driver: eligible outcomes, with the stated existing-helpdesk minimum example.
- Trade-off: the outcome definition affects both billing and how teams interpret apparent resolution; the vendor’s pricing description should be reviewed against the intended workflow.

2. Amazon Connect Customer: combine AI self-service with contact-center operations
Amazon Connect Customer is positioned as an enterprise service combining AI agents and human expertise. Its scope extends beyond answering customer questions: AWS lists prebuilt AI agents, an AI agent designer, testing and simulation, real-time agent assist, post-contact summaries, conversational analytics and proactive engagement. That makes it relevant to organizations considering both customer-facing automation and the operating tools around human service teams.
Rank #2
- Simple shift planning via an easy drag & drop interface
- Add time-off, sick leave, break entries and holidays
- Email schedules directly to your employees
AWS lists chat at $0.010 per message, voice at $0.038 per minute, email at $0.080 per email, and SMS or third-party messaging at $0.014 per message. Voice also incurs standard telephony rates. AWS says rates may vary by region, communication type and third-party provider, so channel volume alone is not a complete cost estimate.
The platform’s breadth can be valuable where a team wants self-service and agent-facing capabilities within a contact-center environment. It may be a less direct fit if the only requirement is an AI agent that attaches to an existing helpdesk. AWS customer statements about cost reductions or savings are vendor-published testimonials, not a forecast for another organization.
- Standout fit: organizations evaluating AI, human-agent assistance and contact-center capabilities together.
- Cost driver: separate rates by channel unit, plus voice telephony and any applicable regional or provider variation.
- Trade-off: a multi-channel contact-center bill requires realistic forecasts for messages, minutes and emails rather than comparison by one headline rate.

3. Google Cloud Agent Assist: help human agents handle interactions
Agent Assist is an agent-assistance layer rather than simply a customer-facing autonomous agent. Depending on SKU, Google lists summarization, knowledge assist, sentiment analysis, AI coach and live translation. It is a candidate when the objective is to equip representatives with assistance during service interactions, rather than replace the human service path with self-service automation.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →For customers onboarded on or after March 6, 2026, Google lists Agent Assist Chat Standard at $0.002 per count and Chat Enterprise at $0.003 per count; one count is one message for these SKUs. Voice Standard is $0.03 per minute and Voice Enterprise is $0.05 per minute. Google says consumption discounts may require opt-in and offers custom quotes. The buyer’s onboarding date matters, so these listed rates should not be applied automatically to earlier customers.

- Intuitive interface of a conventional FTP client
- Easy and Reliable FTP Site Maintenance.
- FTP Automation and Synchronization
- Standout fit: teams looking for AI assistance for representatives, including knowledge support and summaries.
- Cost driver: processed chat messages or voice minutes, with Standard and Enterprise rates differing.
- Trade-off: it is not described as a complete helpdesk or contact-center replacement; organizations should account for the service platform and channels around it separately.

4. Zendesk AI: expand a service platform with AI tools and agents
Zendesk describes both tools for service agents and administrators and AI agents that automate customer interactions across channels. Its overview lists Suite-included capabilities such as admin copilot, generative search, quick answers, ticket and article translation, suggested macros, writing tools, summaries and intelligent triage. AI agents have options for conversation flows, APIs and analytics; more robust agent tools are available through a paid Copilot add-on.
Zendesk’s May 19, 2026 announcement describes Agent Builder as a no-code tool for creating custom AI agents and expanded AI agents across messaging, email, voice and external AI platforms, alongside outcome-based pricing. The same announcement says Voice AI Agents support more than 60 languages and can switch languages mid-conversation while retaining context. These are vendor-described capabilities; channel availability and terms should be checked for the intended configuration.
Feature maturity matters. In that announcement, Knowledge Copilot and Analyst Copilot are labeled early access, while Manager Assist is labeled preview. They should not be treated as generally available capabilities. The cited Zendesk materials do not state a comparable public price for the full AI offering.
- Standout fit: service teams already using Zendesk that want AI for both agent workflows and customer interactions.
- Cost driver: the cited materials establish that some AI tools are included in Suite, some agent tools require a paid Copilot add-on, and the announcement references outcome pricing; they do not provide a complete comparable total.
- Trade-off: distinguish currently available features from early access and preview items when planning a rollout.

5. Salesforce Agentforce for Service: put AI inside a Salesforce-centered service operation
Salesforce presents Agentforce for Service within its service offering. Its listed capabilities include generative replies, summaries, answers, knowledge articles, an unmetered employee agent and Customer Signals Intelligence. Salesforce also describes self-service, digital channels and contact-center integrations as service areas, making the product most relevant where Service Cloud is already central or is being considered as the foundation for service work.
Salesforce lists Agentforce for Service at $125 USD per user per month, billed annually. It describes this as informational pricing that may change and directs buyers to a representative for detailed pricing. Treat the figure as a public listed price, not the total cost of deployment: it does not establish a buyer’s complete licensing, integration or implementation expense.
- Standout fit: service teams seeking an AI layer in a Salesforce-centered environment.
- Cost driver: listed per user per month and billed annually.
- Trade-off: the public rate is informational and does not give a complete implementation estimate.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to choose the right operating model
Start with the job to be done rather than the word “conversational.” These products span customer-facing self-service, helpdesk augmentation, agent assistance and contact-center operations; treating them as interchangeable can lead to a poor comparison.
Recommended Free Tools
- Choose an AI agent for an existing helpdesk if you want customer-facing automation without replacing your current service system. Intercom explicitly describes an existing-helpdesk configuration.
- Choose a service-platform extension if your team’s workflows and records already live in Zendesk or Salesforce. Compare the included capabilities, add-ons and billing structure for the precise edition you would deploy.
- Choose agent assistance if the near-term goal is to help human representatives find knowledge, summarize interactions or receive support during a conversation. Google Agent Assist is explicitly described in this role.
- Consider a contact-center platform if the decision includes voice, digital channels and operational tools such as analytics or workforce capabilities alongside AI. Amazon Connect Customer is described across that broader scope.
Build a realistic cost comparison
Do not compare $0.99 per outcome directly with a per-message, per-minute or per-user price as though the figures bought the same amount of service. Model the unit each vendor bills and the volume your own operation expects.
Best Value
- Choose a representative period and volume. Estimate chat messages, voice minutes, emails, SMS or third-party messages, eligible AI outcomes, and licensed users separately.
- Apply the platform’s billing unit. Intercom charges by outcome; AWS lists channel-specific rates; Google lists processed-message and voice-minute rates by SKU; Salesforce’s listed Agentforce price is per user per month, billed annually.
- Include the conditions attached to the rate. Account for Intercom’s example minimum commitment for its existing-helpdesk setup, AWS voice telephony and regional or provider variation, Google’s onboarding-date and SKU distinctions, and any paid Zendesk Copilot add-on.
- Separate the platform rate from deployment costs. Salesforce’s public price is not a total deployment estimate. For every option, the full contract can depend on edition, configuration and other services not quantified by the cited public figures.
- Test more than the easiest conversations. Include questions that require escalation, uncertain answers and repeat contact in your pilot so a low apparent cost does not conceal poor handoff or unsuccessful resolution.
Evaluate quality in a pilot, not by vendor claims alone
The cited vendor pages describe products and publish pricing, but they do not provide a controlled, independent comparison of these platforms. Customer examples on vendor pages—including stated resolution or cost outcomes—are attributed testimonials, not comparable performance guarantees.
Before rollout, use a representative set of your own inquiries and define what counts as a successful resolution. Track escalation, repeat contacts and cases where the AI appears to finish an interaction without solving the customer’s issue. For agent-assist systems, assess whether support helps representatives produce accurate, useful responses; for customer-facing agents, examine whether customers can reach a human with relevant conversation context when automation is insufficient.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are these five products interchangeable?
No. They occupy different parts of a service operation: customer-facing agents, service-platform AI, human-agent assistance and contact-center capabilities. Compare products that match the same job before comparing their rates.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsDoes an AI customer agent mean a support team can remove human service?
The product descriptions do not establish that. Amazon Connect Customer explicitly combines AI agents and human expertise, while the other profiles describe varying degrees of agent and customer-facing support. A deployment should account for escalation and human handling of cases automation cannot resolve.
Can vendor customer results predict what my team will achieve?
No. Statements and metrics published by a vendor about named customers describe those customers’ reported experiences. They are not independent tests or guarantees of another organization’s outcomes.
Why is a platform absent from a numerical winner ranking?
The available vendor information supports comparing operating models, features and pricing units, but it does not establish like-for-like quality or cost performance across platforms. A numerical winner would imply evidence that is not available here.
