Which PS5 dungeon crawler should you choose?
Choose Diablo IV for a classic action-and-loot loop
Diablo IV is the clearest starting point if you and a friend want continuous real-time combat, character progression and a substantial endgame. Its dark open world includes a campaign, loot, Nightmare Dungeons and World Bosses. The PlayStation listing supports one to two players locally and up to four online, along with couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression. Online play requires PS Plus according to that listing.

Minecraft Dungeons II released on PS5 on September 29, 2026. The PlayStation listing includes couch, online and mixed co-op, plus matchmaking, with one to four local players and up to four online. That range makes it a strong pick when friends need different ways to connect, or when you want to fill a party through matchmaking.
#1 Best Overall
- Hundreds of Magic Cards - Your cards are your arsenal. Split the ground open with earthquakes, hurl white-hot fireballs, and summon powerful allies to eliminate your foes.
- Six Characters - Choose an adventurer, getting a signature starting deck that guides your initial play-style. Regardless of your initial decision, you may branch out and create any deck you want in the game.
- Dungeon Crawling - Venture into any of the six unique dungeons in the world. In doing so, learn the tricks of each of the area's monster, make adjustments to your deck, and seek specific cards. As you explore dungeons, you'll have the opportunity to either dive deeper or return to the Town to secure your spoils. Be careful not to dive too deep and lose your loot!
- Elaborate Deck Building - Whether you're a power gamer looking for the strongest and most broken cards, the lab scientist who loves testing out novel audacious combos, or the completionist, who yearns to 100% their card collection, you'll find something to love with the deck building system.
- Adventurer's Town - Prepare for your next adventure while exploring the beautiful Adventurers' Town. Acquire more cards and unlock new ones by opening boosters. Talk to NPCs and initiate challenging quests, or simply take your time fishing! In-Game Text Languages- English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish (Latin America), and Traditional Chinese.
Choose Ravenswatch for repeatable runs
Ravenswatch is a top-down roguelike action game rather than one long, continuous campaign. Its randomized maps and changing talents and items make each run an opportunity to experiment with a different build. The PlayStation listing supports co-op and matchmaking for up to four players, making it a good fit for groups who enjoy learning a run together and starting again.
Choose Path of Exile 2 if builds are the main attraction
Path of Exile 2 is for players who want to spend time shaping their characters, not simply jump into a low-friction adventure. Its PlayStation listing describes 12 character classes, 240 Skill Gems and more than 100 unique bosses; those are listed feature counts, not measures of comparative quality. The game supports couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression.
Rank #2
- Recover the “darkness” hidden deep within the labyrinth.
- Use the “Switch Boost” system to defeat hordes of monsters.
- Create magical doors, ladders, and bridges to escape the labyrinth.
The same PlayStation page describes Path of Exile 2 as a premium early-access title and says it will become free-to-play at full release, with the date still to be announced. Check the live listing for the current release status and price before deciding. Its extensive systems and challenging encounters make it a better fit for players who actively want build complexity than for a group looking for the simplest first crawler.
Choose Minecraft Dungeons for a lighter adventure
Minecraft Dungeons takes inspiration from classic dungeon crawlers and places the adventure in the Minecraft universe. It supports up to four players in co-op, so it is worth considering for a group that wants an accessible four-player outing. The PlayStation Store listing notes that PS5 play may require a system update; check current regional availability and compatibility.
Rank #3
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is a full 3D remake of the first game in the legendary Wizardry series of RPGs.
- Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is built directly on top of the original 1981 game's code.
- Party management, navigation, spellcasting, and combat have all been significantly enhanced.
Choose Baldur’s Gate 3 for turn-based story co-op
Baldur’s Gate 3 is not a conventional real-time loot crawler. It is a cinematic, turn-based D&D adventure centered on tactical combat, character choices and story, with loot along the way. The PlayStation listing supports one to two players locally and up to four online. Pick it when your group would rather plan each fight and shape a shared story than race through action combat. Its listing says PS Plus is required for online play.
Choose Dungeons 4 if you want to manage the dungeon
Dungeons 4 is classified as a strategy game on PlayStation, not a hero-centered action crawler. Two players can manage one dungeon together online across campaign and skirmish maps. It belongs on this list for players who like building and running the lair as a team, with overworld action as part of the mix.
Rank #4
- Mediterranean Horror: Explore the forsaken capital of an awe-inspiring archipelago. Do not let yourself be fooled by the gentle sea breeze, the Mediterranean vistas or the comforting summer sun. Since the Devil's Fevers pandemic ravaged the city, it was abandoned, and now only horrific nightmares await there.
- Survive your Nemesis: Someone is relentlessly hunting you. Suffer and agonize while you try to run away from the encounters with this strange stalker obsessed with you.
- Intense Challenges: Solve environmental riddles, physics puzzles and other similar challenges in an interconnected vertical world. Even while being chased and hunted.
- Accessibility and Photomode: Tweak more than 20 Accessibility settings to create a tailored experience for you. Use the Photomode to make perfect shots and unlock many secrets using it.
Best PS5 dungeon crawler for couch co-op
For a couch session, start with the games whose PlayStation listings explicitly identify local play: Diablo IV allows one to two local players, Minecraft Dungeons II lists one to four local players, Path of Exile 2 has couch co-op, and Baldur’s Gate 3 allows one to two local players. These figures describe local capacity, not the online party limit.
Recommended Free Tools
If you are choosing a game for a larger group in one room, Minecraft Dungeons II is the clearest listed option for up to four local players. An additional DualSense wireless controller may be useful for local multiplayer, but it is an optional setup item rather than a requirement for every game; PlayStation promotes local multiplayer with an extra controller at its DualSense controller page.

PS5 dungeon crawlers for four players
Several games list four-player co-op, but that does not mean four people can play on a single PS5. Check the local and online numbers separately before inviting a group.
- Minecraft Dungeons II: up to four local and up to four online, with mixed co-op also listed.
- Diablo IV: one to two local and up to four online.
- Baldur’s Gate 3: one to two local and up to four online.
- Ravenswatch: up to four in co-op or matchmaking; the listing’s cited details do not break out local capacity.
- Minecraft Dungeons: up to four in co-op; confirm the local and online setup on the current regional listing.
What to check before playing online
Online access, party options and subscription requirements can vary by title and regional store listing. Diablo IV and Baldur’s Gate 3 are specifically marked as requiring PS Plus for online play on their PlayStation pages. Do not assume the same requirement for every game here: check the current listing for your region, including whether matchmaking is offered and whether your friends can join across platforms.
For newly released Minecraft Dungeons II and early-access Path of Exile 2 in particular, verify availability, release status, player counts and online requirements in the live store page. Prices and editions can also change, so use the current listing rather than an old sale price.
