Which option fits a 24/7 YouTube music channel?
For a continuous broadcast of prerecorded music, choose between a managed service that loops your uploaded videos and a do-it-yourself encoder setup. A cloud architecture makes sense when you specifically need broadcast processing such as managed transcoding or backup inputs—and are prepared to configure and monitor the components. Before choosing any setup, confirm that you have the rights to stream the music on YouTube; rights problems can interrupt a technically sound broadcast.

The Google Cloud and AWS options are building blocks, not like-for-like subscriptions to compare by brand alone. Choose based on the required ingest and output protocols, backup and recovery needs, continuous-operation design, bitrate, audience, region, cost and the skills available to operate the system.
Set up a direct encoder stream to YouTube
This is the do-it-yourself route: an encoder sends the stream to YouTube, while you provide the media, keep the system and connection working, and handle restarts. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders; it does not require a cloud video API for the basic encoder workflow.

- Enable live streaming in advance. In YouTube Studio, create a stream using the encoder workflow. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until launch time. See YouTube’s encoder setup guide.
- Prepare the source and encoder. Set the encoder to play the intended prerecorded music and any accompanying visual continuously. Confirm it can loop the source and that someone—or an automated process you have configured—can detect a stopped encoder or failed upload and restart it. YouTube’s setup guide lists hardware encoders, including Blackmagic Web Presenter 4K, as an option; that unit can stream directly to YouTube up to 2160p60, but may be more equipment than a simple visual loop requires.
- Copy YouTube’s ingest details into the encoder. In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio into the matching fields in your encoder. Treat the stream key as a secret: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel. YouTube’s documented sequence is to create the stream, enter its URL and key in the encoder, then start transmission.
- Choose an ingest protocol and video settings. YouTube recommends RTMPS, which encrypts data in transit to Google’s servers. Its current encoder guidance includes H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate and a recommended two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. For stereo audio, its advanced settings list 44.1 kHz and 128 Kbps. See YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.
- Match quality to the actual content and connection. A static image with music does not inherently need a high frame rate. Use a resolution and bitrate your upstream connection and encoder can sustain, with room for normal network variation; a stream that repeatedly loses connection is less useful than one configured for the available bandwidth. Check YouTube’s current recommendations for the selected codec and resolution rather than assuming one bitrate fits every stream.
- Start transmission and verify the live output. Start the encoder, then check YouTube Studio’s stream preview and status before relying on the broadcast. Confirm that both sound and picture are present and that the selected stream is the one intended for the channel.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that does not establish indefinite archiving for a continuous 24/7 stream. Keep your own copy of source recordings if you need a reliable archive.
What Google Cloud and AWS can—and cannot—be assumed to do
Google Cloud Live Stream API
The API accepts RTMP or SRT input and can produce HLS or DASH outputs, with support for backup input and integration with Cloud Storage. Google recommends SRT input where possible for this service, citing packet-loss recovery, forward error correction, multiple audio elementary streams and higher bandwidth than RTMP; using it requires an encoder or transcoder that supports the selected protocol. This is Google Cloud’s input guidance, not YouTube’s ingest recommendation. YouTube separately recommends RTMPS for its ordinary live ingest.

Google Cloud’s quota documentation says a channel in a streaming state may be restarted after 24 hours. That makes restart handling and monitoring part of a continuous-service design, not an optional afterthought. See the Live Stream API overview, best practices and quotas.
AWS live video components
AWS documents a 24/7 channel architecture in which MediaLive encodes live output, MediaStore or MediaPackage is used in the delivery path, and CloudFront may deliver the result. This is a multi-component video architecture; the cited description does not establish a one-step service that takes a playlist and relays it to YouTube Live. Do not assume it replaces YouTube’s stream-key ingest workflow. AWS’s documented video architecture is a starting point for evaluating that design, not a workload-specific quote.

Clear music rights before you schedule the stream
A 24/7 music channel needs permission for the actual live use; having an audio file or permission to use a track in a regular upload is not, by itself, proof that a continuous live broadcast is cleared. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the provider to have the necessary rights for live content worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers and other rights participants. This is not India-specific legal advice: the permissions needed depend on the repertoire, recording, composition, performance, territories and business model. Check with the relevant rights holders or qualified counsel.
- Expect live matching. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may cause a placeholder to replace the stream and a warning to appear; if the issue remains unresolved, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the broadcast.
- Ask about Content ID allowlisting. YouTube says licensed third-party music can still trigger an interruption unless the rights owner adds the channel to its Content ID allowlist. Resolve this with the rights owner before going live.
- Do not rely on Creator Music for live use. YouTube states that Creator Music licenses and revenue-sharing tracks are for long-form videos, not live streams; its FAQ says Creator Music does not currently support licensing for live content.
- Account for claims after the broadcast. An archived stream can receive a Content ID claim after the live event has ended, so a clean live session does not guarantee that the archive will remain claim-free.

Plan for continuous operation and cost
For a self-managed encoder, the computer or hardware encoder, media source and network path must keep working. Plan how you will detect a stalled source, encoder crash, power loss, network interruption or YouTube disconnect, and how to restart transmission safely. Keep the stream key private and document who can access it. A single encoder connection is not the same as a redundant broadcast system.
For a cloud design, estimate the complete workload rather than comparing the names of cloud providers: include continuous processing at the chosen bitrate, storage, delivery, backup inputs, monitoring and any operator time. AWS’s cited architecture does not provide a workload-specific estimate, and the consulted Google Cloud and AWS documentation does not establish a comparable India-specific cost table or regional availability assessment. Check current service regions and prices against your actual design before committing.

Common problems and fixes
- Live streaming is not enabled: If this is the channel’s first live broadcast, enable it in YouTube Studio early; YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- YouTube shows no incoming stream: Check that the encoder is running and that the server URL and stream key were copied into the correct fields for the intended stream. If you changed or replaced the key, update the encoder too.
- The stream disconnects or looks unstable: Check whether the encoder or source stopped, inspect the network connection and confirm the configured bitrate is sustainable on the upstream connection. If you use Google Cloud Live Stream API, include its documented possible restart after 24 hours in your operating plan.
- A music match interrupts the broadcast: Pause or replace the matched material while you resolve the rights issue. Contact the rights owner about the license and any required Content ID allowlisting; do not assume that a track described as royalty-free elsewhere is cleared for YouTube live use.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: YouTube’s stated automatic archive rule covers streams under 12 hours, not indefinite 24/7 streams. Preserve source recordings separately if you need an archive.
