What a full-page screenshot extension does
A normal screenshot records only what is visible in the browser window. A full-page screenshot extension captures content beyond that viewport by scrolling the page, producing an image that may be much taller than your screen. Depending on the extension, you may also be able to export a PDF, capture a scrolling section, or annotate the result.

Results can vary on dynamic or protected pages. A long page may load more content as you scroll, and a protected browser surface may not behave like ordinary webpage content. None of the listings establishes flawless capture on every site.

How to choose without assuming every page will work
Choose by the output you actually need
- For a whole-page image or a PDF with selectable layout options, start by evaluating GoFullPage.
- If the target is an inner scrolling pane rather than the entire document, FireShot specifically lists scrolling-area capture.
- If you need to obscure information before sharing, compare the listed editing tools in FireShot and GoFully. Confirm that the controls you need are included in the current version and tier.
- If copying the result to the clipboard matters, FullPage Capture and FireShot list clipboard-related functionality.
Check compatibility and availability
GoFullPage’s publisher reported a September 1, 2026 notice directing users to a separate BETA listing. The available information does not establish why the pointer changed or how long it will last. Its changelog lists version 8.9 on September 24, 2026, including a fix for Chromium 153’s new URL requirement; that is evidence of a recent change, not a guarantee for every browser configuration or site. Check the current official listing rather than relying on an old bookmark or extension name alone.

GoFullPage documents that local HTML can be captured, but does not guarantee other browser-rendered local formats; it also says Chrome’s protected local PDF viewer supports visible-area capture only. This is a specific limitation for the protected local PDF viewer, not a claim about all PDFs opened in Chrome.
Install and test carefully
- Open the extension’s current Chrome Web Store listing and verify the extension name and developer identity.
- Read the listing’s current permissions and privacy disclosures before selecting Add to Chrome. Permissions and listing details can change.
- After installation, open a non-sensitive page similar to the one you need to capture and try the intended output: whole page, scrolling area, image, PDF, or annotation.
- Inspect the saved result from top to bottom. Look for missing sections, repeated or misaligned content, unreadable text, and any details that should have been obscured.
- Before sharing a screenshot, confirm that it does not expose account details, private messages, or other sensitive page content.
Privacy and sensitive content
A screenshot can contain everything rendered on the page, including information below the fold. A listing’s use of terms such as “local” or “no network” is not an independent security audit. GoFully’s listing describes on-device processing; FullPage Capture’s listing claims no-account and no-network behavior. Treat both as vendor claims, and check the current permissions, developer identity, privacy disclosures, and whether any sharing or export action sends data outside the browser. The FireShot and GoFullPage listings describe features but do not establish independent privacy audits.
