The best choice for you depends on the places you use your phone, the network metric that matters, and whether your device supports the service available there.
Which cell phone carrier has the best coverage in Arizona?
In Opensignal’s January 2026 Arizona results, Verizon had the highest Coverage Experience score: 9.5 on the report’s 0–10 scale. T-Mobile scored 8.9 and AT&T 8.8. The report also found high Time on Network for all three carriers, but that is a different measure from geographic coverage or 5G availability.

| Arizona metric | Verizon | T-Mobile | AT&T |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coverage Experience (0–10 score) | 9.5 | 8.9 | 8.8 |
| Time on Network | 99.3% | 99.0% | 99.3% |
| 5G Coverage Experience (0–10 score) | 7.8 | 7.9 | 6.0 |
| 5G Availability | 61.6% | 91.9% | 84.8% |
All figures are Opensignal’s statewide Arizona results from January 2026. Coverage Experience and 5G Coverage Experience are scores, not percentages of Arizona’s land area. Time on Network and 5G Availability are percentages, not measurements of how much territory a carrier covers. The metrics describe different aspects of mobile experience, so no single row establishes a universal winner.

T-Mobile led both 5G measures in Opensignal’s January 2026 Arizona report: its 5G Coverage Experience score was 7.9, just ahead of Verizon’s 7.8, and its 5G Availability was 91.9%, compared with 84.8% for AT&T and 61.6% for Verizon. A higher score or availability figure does not mean 5G reaches every address or that it will be faster in every location.

- Please note, this device does not support E-SIM; This 4G model is compatible with all GSM networks worldwide outside of the U.S. In the US, ONLY compatible with T-Mobile and their MVNO's (Metro and Standup). It will NOT work with other CDMA carriers, and it is also not compatible with their MVNO (Visible, Xfinity Mobile, US Mobile, Cricket Wireless, etc).
- Compatibility with certain third-party devices and accessibility accessories, including some hearing aids, may vary depending on manufacturer support, Bluetooth protocols, software compatibility, and regional firmware limitations. For additional hearing aid compatibility information, please refer to Samsung’s official support documentation.

Choose a metric that matches how you use your phone. If you care most about the report’s overall Coverage Experience score, Verizon led. If you prioritize the report’s 5G measures, T-Mobile led. Time on Network—the share of time users were connected to a carrier’s network—was 99.3% for Verizon and AT&T and 99.0% for T-Mobile; it should not be read as a 5G figure.
How to check cell coverage at your Arizona address
Use statewide results only to narrow the options. Then compare current coverage for your home, workplace, and the routes you regularly travel. No statewide score can settle service quality at a specific house, office, road, or indoor location.

- Search the FCC National Broadband Map. Enter an address and compare mobile providers. The map offers filters for 3G, 4G, and 5G; two 5G speed thresholds; and stationary outdoor or in-vehicle views. See the FCC’s guide to using the map.
- Check each carrier’s current map for the same locations. For Verizon, use its coverage map and address lookup. Compare what the carrier shows with the FCC map rather than treating either as a service guarantee.
- Check your phone’s network compatibility. A coverage indication is useful only if your device supports the relevant network technology and bands.
- Evaluate indoor reception separately. The FCC mobile map represents modeled outdoor or in-vehicle coverage, not indoor availability. If possible, test service inside the places where you need it before switching.
- Challenge an apparent map error if appropriate. The FCC explains its challenge process in the same map-use guide.
Why maps and real-world reception can differ
The FCC’s mobile coverage map is based on propagation modeling and provider-reported data. The agency cautions that actual on-the-ground experience can vary with the end-user device, cell-site capacity, and terrain. Its map does not show indoor availability, and provider maps can differ because they may use different assumptions, including about roaming. The FCC describes the map’s data and limits in its map guide and National Broadband Map help information.
Carriers also qualify their own maps. Verizon says its map shows “approximate outdoor coverage” and is “not a guarantee of service.” Treat map colors as a planning aid, then verify the locations and indoor conditions that matter to you.

Can a signal booster improve weak indoor service?
A consumer signal booster may help where a usable carrier signal reaches the building but is weak indoors. It is not a fix for a true no-coverage area, and it is not a substitute for choosing a carrier that works where you need service. Verizon describes consumer boosters as a way to extend weak coverage, including indoors and in rural areas, in its home signal-booster guidance.
Before operating one, check that the device meets applicable FCC requirements, supports your serving carrier’s bands, and uses the manufacturer-specified antennas and cables. Federal rules require carrier consent and prior registration for consumer signal boosters; see 47 CFR § 20.21. Follow the carrier’s current approval and registration process.
