Not from the records available here. CHOICE lists the R-V410PT8BBK, while Hitachi’s regional brochure uses GBK for a glass-black finish in the distinct R-VG410P8MS family. The model names are similar, but they are not interchangeable evidence of the same appliance.

CHOICE lists the R-V410PT8BBK as a freezer-on-top refrigerator in the 300–380 L class, with 375 L total claimed capacity: 250 L for the refrigerator compartment and 125 L for the freezer. These are listing specifications, not an independently verified usable-capacity measurement.

Hitachi’s regional product sheet for the R-V410PT8 family describes a top-mount inverter model with no-frost cooling, dual fans, an Eco Thermo Sensor, LED lighting, tempered-glass shelves and a movable twist ice tray. The brochure describes the inverter compressor as adjusting cooling power across a wide range; that is manufacturer product language, not independent proof of cooling performance.
Do not substitute the 340 L net capacity shown for the separate R-V410P8MS model in Hitachi’s Singapore brochure. That brochure, printed 5 September 2018, also associates GBK with a different R-VG-series model family—not proof of a R-V410PT8GBK configuration. How much electricity does it use?
CHOICE lists energy consumption of 268 kWh per year and a 4.5-star rating for the R-V410PT8BBK. Hitachi’s regional R-V410PT8 product sheet also advertises 268 kWh per year. These are published claims for regional product information, not a fresh measurement of a particular appliance or a guarantee of household consumption. Actual use depends on conditions such as ambient temperature, settings, installation and door-opening habits.

Will it fit in your kitchen?
For the BBK listing, CHOICE gives dimensions of 161 cm high × 65 cm wide × 72 cm deep. It recommends installation space of 166 cm high × 75 cm wide × 77 cm deep. These figures are a useful starting point, not a substitute for the manual for the exact regional variant.
- Measure the route into the kitchen as well as the final space, including narrow doorways and turns.
- Check door swing and whether the doors can open far enough in the intended position.
- Confirm ventilation clearances and any installation requirements in the correct local manual.
- Verify the unit’s voltage and plug suit your location.
What do independent tests and owner reviews establish?
CHOICE marks its R-V410PT8BBK listing discontinued and identifies 2020 as the test year. The publicly visible page does not show its expert score or detailed results for freshness, temperature stability, noise, reliability and other test categories. It therefore does not support a public verdict that the refrigerator cools exceptionally well, runs quietly or has a particular reliability record.

ProductReview.com.au’s listing also marks the model discontinued and identifies BBK/BSL MPN variants. It shows only two owner reviews: one reports noise and finish concerns; the other describes quiet, energy-efficient operation and no issues. Two conflicting accounts from a tiny, self-selected sample cannot establish typical satisfaction or a failure rate.
Is the Hitachi R-V410PT8 discontinued?
It is labelled discontinued by both CHOICE and ProductReview.com.au. That status does not prove every retailer has stopped selling it: old stock or second-hand units may still appear. Hitachi Australia’s support catalogue lists later refrigerator documentation, but that alone does not confirm the availability of this model, its warranty or compatible spare parts.

CHOICE’s listing includes a five-year warranty and a $949 price, but those are fields on that listing—not a current offer or confirmation of present-day coverage. Hitachi’s regional product-sheet result describes a five-year parts-and-labour warranty plus five additional years of inverter-compressor parts warranty. That dated regional offer may not apply to this exact suffix, country or second-hand appliance. Ask the seller or local Hitachi support to confirm coverage for the actual unit.
What should you check before buying one?
- Match the identity: read the rating plate and confirm the entire model code. Resolve any GBK-versus-BBK discrepancy against regional Hitachi documentation.
- Confirm fit and installation: check the exact unit’s dimensions, door swing, ventilation clearances, delivery route, voltage and plug.
- Assess the individual appliance: inspect its finish and shelves, check that doors and seals operate properly, and ask the seller to demonstrate cooling. A used unit’s condition is not established by a model listing.
