When IKEA TRÅDFRI is a sensible alternative
IKEA’s UK support guidance covers its smart lighting products generally; it does not establish that every current TRÅDFRI model in every country will pair under the same conditions. Before selecting a specific bulb, confirm its current model, local availability and software status. The documented Hue Bridge route requires software version 1.2.x or later.
If an IKEA bulb is on older software, IKEA says it must be updated using an IKEA gateway and app. For Hue Bridge pairing, IKEA recommends placing the lights near the Bridge, searching for new devices in the Hue app, and resetting the lights by toggling the main switch six times. These steps are prerequisites, not evidence that every IKEA product generation has identical support.

Pair an Innr bulb with the Hue Bridge
- In the Hue app, open Settings, then Lamp configuration, and choose the option to search for lights.
- Switch the Innr lamp off and on as prompted. Innr says it blinks twice when ready to connect and flashes again after it links.
- Confirm that it appears in the Hue app, then assign it to the appropriate room or zone.

Pair IKEA smart lighting with the Hue Bridge
- Check that the IKEA light has software version 1.2.x or later. If it is older, update it through an IKEA gateway and app.
- Keep the light near the Hue Bridge during pairing.
- In the Hue app, search for new devices.
- If the light does not appear, reset it by toggling its main switch six times, then search again.

Hue Bridge pairing is not the same as direct Matter pairing
Matter compatibility can mean different control paths. A Matter bulb paired directly to Apple Home, Google Home or Alexa is not thereby a bulb added to the Hue Bridge or controllable in the Hue app as a Hue Bridge light.
Philips Hue says its Bridge enables Matter for Hue products connected through the Bridge, while products connected through Bluetooth cannot use Matter through that Bridge integration. Hue’s support guide distinguishes Bridge-mediated setup from direct Matter setup, with different feature availability.
