For the fan-made Black Ops 1 Zombies port at vel.gg/bo1z, use an up-to-date 64-bit desktop browser with WebGL2 and hardware acceleration enabled, allow site storage, and close resource-heavy tabs and apps. The project is unofficial, intended for solo play, and requires a computer with a keyboard and mouse; these settings are recommendations from its independent guide, not guaranteed performance gains.
First, make sure you mean the browser port
The browser setup described here is for a fan-made port of the 2010 Black Ops 1 Zombies experience hosted at vel.gg. Its guide says the project is not affiliated with Activision or Treyarch and supports solo play. It is not an official Activision browser release.

The guide recommends a current desktop version of Chrome, Edge, or Firefox. It says phones and tablets are unsupported for this port. A Chromebook may work only if it meets the browser, WebGL2, and memory requirements; the guide does not promise compatibility with every Chromebook.

Use these browser settings
Choose a current 64-bit desktop browser
The port’s guide recommends current desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, using a 64-bit browser build. Keep the browser up to date. The guide does not publish a minimum total system RAM figure or tested device list, so a 64-bit browser alone cannot guarantee that a particular computer will run the game smoothly.
Enable hardware acceleration
Hardware acceleration lets the browser use the graphics hardware for rendering. The guide recommends checking that WebGL2 is available and using the hardware-accelerated path.

- Restart the browser after changing the setting. In Chrome, open
chrome://gpuand check whether WebGL2 is marked “Hardware accelerated.”
These are the fan guide’s recommended settings, not benchmark results or a promise of a particular frame rate.

Reduce memory and graphics pressure
The guide says the game reserves a 1.5 GiB heap, with additional memory needed for graphics and sound. That is the guide’s stated game-heap figure, not a total system-memory requirement. Before loading the game, close demanding tabs and apps so they are not competing for resources.

- The next-generation optical HERO sensor delivers incredible performance and up to 10x the power efficiency over previous generations, with 400 IPS precision and up to 12,000 DPI sensitivity

- The durable, compact design with built-in nano receiver storage makes G305 not just a great portable desktop mouse, but also a great laptop travel companion, use with a gaming laptop and play anywhere
The guide notes that frame-rate dips are most noticeable with large hordes on large maps. Its optional Hell/horde mode can be substantially more demanding than normal rounds. If performance worsens as the action builds, reducing other resource use is a sensible first step; the source does not provide device-specific settings or a tested performance target.
Allow browser storage for maps
The port saves map files in browser storage, which lets later visits load maps faster. The guide says private windows and strict cookie or site-data settings can block this storage. Use a normal browser window and allow site data for the game. It recommends keeping several gigabytes free if trying several maps; it does not specify a fixed storage quota.

- ICONIC ERGONOMIC DESIGN WITH THUMB REST — PC gaming mouse favored by millions worldwide with a form factor that perfectly supports the hand while its buttons are optimally positioned for quick and easy access
- 11 PROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS — Assign macros and secondary functions across 11 programmable buttons to execute essential actions like push-to-talk, ping, and more
- HYPERSCROLL TILT WHEEL — Speed through content with a scroll wheel that free-spins until its stopped or switch to tactile mode for more precision and satisfying feedback that’s ideal for cycling through weapons or skills
- 11 RAZER CHROMA RGB LIGHTING ZONES — Customize each zone from over 16.8 million colors and countless lighting effects, all while it reacts dynamically with over 150 Chroma integrated games
- OPTICAL MOUSE SWITCHES GEN 2 — With zero unintended misclicks these switches provide crisp, responsive execution at a blistering 0.2ms actuation speed for up to 70 million clicks
The guide reports that map downloads are a few hundred megabytes and that five unpacks total about 900 MB. Treat those figures as the guide’s estimates, not fixed sizes for every map or device. If storage is full, remove unneeded site data and retry; doing so may also remove cached map files and make them download again.

| Symptom | What to try | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| WebGL2 unavailable or unsupported graphics | Enable hardware acceleration, restart the browser, update the graphics driver, then check chrome://gpu in Chrome. |
The guide does not guarantee compatibility for any particular GPU or driver. |
| “Shared memory is unavailable” | Open vel.gg/bo1z directly in its own tab in a current desktop Chrome, Edge, or Firefox window. | The guide identifies embedded frames and in-app browsers, such as those inside Discord, X, or Reddit, as unsupported. |
| Memory reservation error or stutter | Use a 64-bit browser and close heavy tabs and apps before launching. | The stated 1.5 GiB heap needs additional room for graphics and sound; the guide gives no minimum total RAM. |
| Slow repeat loads or storage errors | Allow site data in a normal window, keep free disk space, and remove unneeded site data if storage is full. | Exact browser storage quotas are not stated and may vary. |
| Trying to play on a phone or tablet | Use a computer with a keyboard and mouse for this port. | This limitation applies to the described port, not to every mobile Zombies game. |
Keep cloud gaming separate from the browser port
Activision’s October 14, 2024 article describes Xbox Cloud Gaming access for select Call of Duty games. For the service described there, it lists a linked Activision account and Xbox account, an active Game Pass Ultimate subscription, and supported controller or mouse-and-keyboard input; touch controls are not supported. That is a separate route from the vel.gg fan port, and the article does not establish that any particular Zombies title is currently available. Check current Xbox and Activision service pages for live game, device, and plan availability before relying on cloud access: Activision’s Xbox Cloud Gaming guidance.
