For a PDF you can read offline, start with your browser’s built-in Print to PDF workflow; add a PDF extension if you want a toolbar shortcut or remembered layout settings. For a more complete, self-contained webpage archive, use SingleFile—but it saves HTML, not PDF. Those are different formats with different strengths, so choose based on what you need to keep.
Choose PDF or a complete webpage archive
A PDF is convenient for reading, printing, and sharing. It can preserve selectable text and links, but its appearance depends on the page and print settings, and it may split content across pages. A single-file HTML archive can preserve more of a page’s original styling and resources in one file, but it is not a PDF and may behave differently from the live site.

For an occasional PDF, you may not need an extension. Open the page’s print command, choose the browser or system option to save as PDF, review the preview, and save the file. The exact labels vary by browser and operating system. Chrome provides an official print-help path; use the controls available in your current print dialog rather than assuming every browser offers the same settings.

- Wait for the page to finish loading, including images or other content you need.
- Open the browser’s Print command and inspect the preview.
- Choose the available save-as-PDF destination.
- Adjust options such as paper size, orientation, scale, margins, background graphics, and headers or footers when offered.
- Save the file, then open it to check that the content and pagination are usable.
This is the simplest route, but results depend on the page’s print layout and the settings in the browser. A preview can reveal clipped content, missing backgrounds, or awkward page breaks before you save.
Best Firefox add-on for one-click PDFs: Webpage to PDF
Mozilla’s Webpage to PDF add-on listing describes a toolbar action that saves a PDF through Firefox’s print pipeline. It lists controls for orientation, paper, scale, margins, background graphics, and headers and footers, with settings remembered between uses. The listing also says its PDFs contain selectable and searchable text and links.

Consider it if a one-click Firefox workflow and saved print preferences are useful; otherwise, Firefox’s built-in print path may be sufficient.
Best option for a single-file webpage archive: SingleFile

Save a page with the toolbar
- Install SingleFile from the official store for your browser.
- Open the page and wait until it has fully loaded. The Firefox listing specifically advises waiting for the page to finish loading.
- Select the SingleFile toolbar button to save the page as an HTML file.
- Open the saved file and check the content you need, especially images and links.
Other save options
The project documentation also describes context-menu options for selected content and frames, multi-tab saving, annotation, autosave, and keyboard shortcuts. These options are useful when the toolbar action is not the right fit, but they do not change the output into PDF.
Other archive formats
SingleFile’s project compares regular HTML, self-extracting ZIP, MHTML, Safari Web Archive, and HTML-plus-folder formats. Compatibility varies: MHTML is limited to Chromium-based browsers and Internet Explorer, while Safari Web Archive is specific to Safari. The project identifies regular HTML and self-extracting HTML as options that can be viewed without installing an extension. Check the format against the device and browser where you plan to open the archive.

How privacy and store ratings should affect your choice
Extension store disclosures are useful information, but they are not independent privacy audits. The Webpage to PDF listing says the extension runs locally and that its developer reports no data collection. The Chrome Web Store relays SingleFile’s developer privacy disclosure. Check the current permission list and privacy policy for the version and store you install from.

Store-reported ratings and user counts are platform-specific and change over time; they measure neither archive fidelity nor representative success rates. For SingleFile, the Chrome Web Store listing showed 600,000 users and 4.4 out of 5 stars from 1.1K ratings when accessed in 2026; Mozilla Add-ons showed 92,170 users and 4.8 stars from 1,043 reviews when accessed in 2026. These counts come from separate stores and should not be compared as though their rating samples were collected the same way.

A saved snapshot is not permanent preservation, and saving a copy does not establish permission to reproduce or redistribute the page. The sources available for these tools do not establish how reliably they capture logged-in, paywalled, script-heavy, or media-rich pages. Check those pages directly, and do not assume that interactive features, protected content, or every media item will survive offline.
