Can PC and console players use mods on the same ARK server?
CurseForge identifies Nitrado as the exclusive host for ARK: Survival Ascended cross-play modded servers. That makes host eligibility the first decision for a community combining PC and console players—not a minor feature to compare after price or control-panel design. Because hosting arrangements can change, confirm current availability and supported platforms with CurseForge and Nitrado before committing. CurseForge’s ARK: Survival Ascended page and its creator support documentation state the exclusivity.

Cross-play support does not mean every mod works everywhere. CurseForge lists Steam, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5, while warning that platform policies may make individual mods unavailable on some platforms. Check each community-critical mod against every platform represented in your player base before building the server’s mod list. CurseForge’s moderation guidance also says Xbox and PlayStation versions undergo moderation and sets a 5 GB maximum file size for those platform versions; that is a moderation constraint, not a host-plan storage allowance.
How do players install the server’s mods?
Players can browse and install ARK: Survival Ascended mods from the in-game menu. When a player joins a modded server, the game presents the required mods for installation. That documented flow means administrators should explain the in-game prompt to new players rather than assume manual downloads are the normal join process. The same guide notes that mods cannot be added to an already existing single-player game. That statement concerns an existing single-player save; it does not establish a rule for moving or changing a hosted server.
Which hosting features should administrators compare?
Beyond cross-play eligibility, the important differences are provider-specific. The cited ARK and CurseForge documentation does not compare host control panels, plans, support, or performance. Ask each provider for current written details rather than assuming a feature exists because the game supports mods.

None of these plan-level details was established across providers here, so this is a buyer checklist rather than a host ranking. Compare the live plan terms directly; no current prices or comparative benchmarks are verified.

There is no single memory figure that can be responsibly applied to every ARK server. The ARK Official Community Wiki’s search excerpt says memory needs vary with map, connected players, world age, configuration, and installed mods. Because its dedicated-server setup and configuration pages were not available to verify in detail, treat that as a reason to ask providers about resource allocation for your specific workload—not as a numeric sizing recommendation. This uncertainty matters most when comparing fixed-resource plans or considering self-hosting. Estimate based on your intended map, expected concurrent players, settings, and mod set, then ask how the provider handles resource limits and what happens if the workload exceeds them. Renting hosting does not require you to buy separate server hardware.

A practical selection order for a modded community
- List the platforms and required mods. Identify the platforms your members actually use and check every essential mod for availability on each.
- Confirm cross-play eligibility. If PC and console players must share a modded server, verify current host support; CurseForge’s stated exclusive host is Nitrado.
- Test the player join path. Confirm where players find the server and communicate that the game may ask them to install required mods on joining.
- Inspect administration and recovery. Get clear answers about mod updates, ordering, backups, rollback, and recovery from a failed update.
- Match capacity and terms to the group. Check slots, map-appropriate resources, locations, support, and full recurring billing terms on the exact current plan.
