For a balanced PC setup, start with FOV 80, motion blur off, high view distance, and low shadows, post-processing, and effects. Use your monitor’s native resolution if performance is stable; otherwise try Quality upscaling first. Then check the in-game Detailed Performance Overlay during a representative match and tune for the bottleneck it shows—these settings are a starting point, not a guarantee of a particular frame rate.

| Setting | Starting point | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Display resolution | Native monitor resolution, if performance is stable | Preserves the display’s intended image detail. |
| Display mode | Exclusive Fullscreen or Borderless | Choose the mode that works best with your system and preferences. |
| VSync | Off if prioritizing latency | Use this as a latency-oriented starting point; behavior depends on your display and setup. |
| Frame cap | A limit your system can hold consistently | A stable cap is preferable to targeting a rate the system cannot sustain. |
| FOV | 80 | The cited guide recommends the top of its documented 60–80 slider range. This is a guide recommendation, not a universal rule. |
| Motion Blur | Off | Reduces cinematic blur that can make movement harder to read. |
| View Distance | High | Helps retain distant detail important for spotting threats. |
| Shadows | Low | Reduces rendering load while preserving higher settings for details that matter more to visibility. |
| Post-Processing | Low | A reasonable performance-first starting point. |
| Effects | Low | Can reduce rendering load during visually busy moments. |
| Foliage | Low or Medium | Choose the lower setting if you need more performance; compare visibility in similar gameplay. |
| Textures | As high as available VRAM permits | Texture quality should be balanced against the graphics card’s available video memory. |
| NVIDIA Reflex | On, if supported | The guide suggests it for supported NVIDIA hardware. |
The detailed setting recommendations are from a third-party guide, whose menu options may change with patches: PC Guide’s ARC Raiders settings guide.
Choose resolution and upscaling based on performance
Keep native resolution when it meets your performance goal. If it does not, select an upscaling option supported by your hardware—DLSS, FSR, or XeSS, as exposed in the game—and begin at Quality. Move to Balanced only if Quality is not enough for your target. More aggressive scaling can improve performance but may make distant detail less clear, so check the image in actual play rather than choosing solely by its frame-rate effect.

Upscaling is most relevant when the GPU is limiting performance. It is not a general fix for every slowdown: if the overlay identifies a CPU Game limit, lowering resolution or shadows is unlikely to address that bottleneck directly.
How to diagnose the bottleneck in a match
- Open Graphics → Advanced → In-Game Performance Overlay.
- Choose Detailed.
- Play a representative match and watch whether the overlay points to CPU Game, CPU Render, or GPU.
- Change only one or two relevant settings, then compare in similar gameplay conditions.
A GPU limit is a reason to try reducing rendering load, including lowering demanding quality settings or changing upscaling. A CPU Game limit is not generally solved by lowering resolution or shadows; avoid making broad visual sacrifices before identifying a change that helps. This diagnostic approach and the overlay labels are described in the PC Guide settings guide.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
Adjust lighting, reflections, and frame generation cautiously
Lighting and reflections
If the overlay indicates a GPU limit, the guide recommends Static RTX Global Illumination where available, and reducing reflections or global-illumination resolution if those controls appear in your version. These settings and their names can change, so treat them as options to test rather than universal menu instructions.

Consider frame generation only after your regular, underlying frame rate is stable. It can increase displayed smoothness, but generated frames do not replace stable base performance and may involve a latency tradeoff. Check the current game menu for modes compatible with your hardware.

Use Embark’s hardware targets as reference points
Embark’s PC requirements page, last updated October 1, 2025, lists these target tiers. They are publisher-provided targets, not independent benchmark results or a promise that every system will achieve the stated performance.
| Tier | Processor | Memory | Graphics | Embark’s listed target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 1600 | 12 GB RAM | GTX 1050 Ti, Radeon RX 580, or Intel Arc A380 | Low settings, 1080p, 60 fps |
| Recommended | Intel Core i5-9600K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600 | 16 GB RAM | RTX 2070, Radeon RX 5700 XT, or Intel Arc B570 | High settings, 1440p, 60 fps |
| Epic | Intel Core i7-9700K or AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | 16 GB RAM | RTX 4070 Ti, RTX 5070, or Radeon RX 7900 XTX | Epic settings with resolution-scaling quality, 1440p, 90 fps |
Source: Embark Studios’ PC system requirements. Use the tier that matches your resolution and settings goal as a reference when diagnosing performance, not as a guarantee. Consider a graphics-card upgrade only if your current hardware and desired target justify it and the overlay confirms a GPU bottleneck; check power, case clearance, and system compatibility before buying.

What to change when performance or visibility falls short
- GPU limit: Try Quality upscaling if you are at native resolution, then lower demanding options such as shadows, effects, or reflections. Compare distant-detail clarity after each change.
- CPU Game limit: Do not expect lower resolution or shadows alone to fix it. Test relevant settings carefully and use the overlay to see whether a change helps.
- Image looks too soft at range: Return to native resolution if it is stable, or move from Balanced to Quality upscaling. Keep view distance high.
- Frame rate fluctuates: Set a cap your system can sustain, then compare in similar match conditions instead of chasing a peak rate.
- Unsure whether a change helped: Revert settings that do not improve the overlay result or the experience you care about; avoid changing several categories at once.
