Proton Drive, Internxt Drive, and Tresorit describe ways to protect stored file contents, but encryption is not the same as anonymous registration, untraceable payment, or hidden connection metadata. For people who need both privacy and cloud storage, the practical choice is to match a provider’s documented protections to a specific threat model—and verify identity and metadata practices separately.
What “anonymous cloud storage” can—and cannot—mean
Cloud storage privacy has several distinct layers. End-to-end or zero-knowledge encryption can limit a provider’s ability to read file contents, but it does not, by itself, establish that you can create an account without an identifying email, pay without a traceable method, or prevent the service from associating activity with an account.

- File privacy: Who can decrypt files, and are file and folder names protected?
- Account privacy: What signup identifiers or verification does the service require?
- Payment privacy: Does the provider accept a payment method that fits your needs, and what records can it associate with the account?
- Connection privacy: Can your network address or other connection information be linked to account activity?
- Sharing and recovery: What protections apply when you share files, and what happens if you lose credentials or keys?
The available provider pages do not settle all of these questions for the services below. Treat “anonymous” as an objective to verify, not a property established by encryption terminology alone.

Best-documented options for privacy-focused cloud storage
| Service | What its cited documentation says | What is not established for anonymity | Best fit based on documented features |
|---|---|---|---|
| Proton Drive | Proton says files and folders are end-to-end encrypted and that access is available through Tor. It also describes password-protected and expiring sharing links, open-source apps, and published audit reports. Its product page lists 5 GB on the free plan. | The cited pages do not establish anonymous signup or payment. Tor access does not remove account identifiers. | People who want provider-documented end-to-end encryption and Tor access, or protected sharing links. |
| Internxt Drive | Internxt describes device-side protection and zero-knowledge storage. Its page refers to a 2024 Securitum audit, ISO 27001:2022 certification, and HIPAA status. | The cited page does not establish anonymous signup or payment. The audit and certification claims should be evaluated against their scope and boundaries. | People comparing a provider-described zero-knowledge model and its cited assurance claims. |
| Tresorit | Tresorit’s knowledge base says files are encrypted on-device and decrypted locally. Its encrypted-sharing controls include passwords, expiration, open or download limits, email verification, and watermarking. | The cited page does not establish anonymous signup or payment. | People prioritizing detailed controls for secure file sharing and collaboration. |
These are privacy-oriented candidates, not a verified ranking of anonymous providers. The provider pages describe product features; they do not establish that account creation and payment can be completed anonymously.
#1 Best Overall
- Certified to FIPS 197 - High-level information security standard approved by the U.S. Government
- Brute-Force Password Attack Protection - Data is automatically erased after 6 failed access attempts. The data and encryption key are securely destroyed and the crypto drive is reset
- Rugged Double-Layer Waterproof* Design - Protects the crypto drive against knocks, drops, break-in and submerging in water. The electronics are shielded by a hardended inner case. The rubberised silicone outer casing provides a final layer of protection
- Auto-lock - The crypto drive will automatically encrypt all data and lock when removed from a PC/Mac or when the screen saver or "computer lock" function is activated on the host PC/Mac
- Secure Entry - Data cannot be accessed without the correct high-strength alphanumeric 8-16 character password. A password hint option is available. The password hint cannot match the password
Proton Drive: end-to-end encryption with Tor access
Proton says its end-to-end encryption prevents anyone, including Proton, from accessing files and folders or seeing their names without permission. Its security page also says users can access Drive over the Tor anonymity network for extra privacy or to bypass advanced censorship. That can help protect the connection path, but it does not make an account anonymous if the account or payment identifies you.
Proton’s product page lists 5 GB for the free plan. Storage limits and plan details can change, so check the current Proton Drive plans before choosing. The security page describes password and expiration controls for sharing links, and says Proton apps are open source with audit reports published. Those facts support evaluating encryption, sharing, and transparency; they do not answer the separate questions of signup identifiers, payment traceability, or all retained metadata.

Internxt Drive: zero-knowledge claims and assurance scope
Internxt describes a device-side, zero-knowledge design, meaning its stated model is intended to keep the provider from accessing stored file contents. Its Drive page cites a 2024 Securitum audit, ISO 27001:2022 certification, and HIPAA status. These are claims presented by the provider; their relevance depends on what systems, processes, and data the audit or certification actually covers.
The cited page does not establish that users can register or pay anonymously. Before relying on the assurance claims, check the underlying audit and certification scope rather than treating the labels as proof of anonymous use or as a guarantee about every privacy risk.

- Certified to FIPS 197 - U.S. Government Approved High Level Information Security Standard.
- Protection against brute force password attacks - Data is automatically erased after 6 unsuccessful access attempts. The data of the USB flash drive type c encryption with dual connectors is destroyed and the cryptographic drive is reset.
- Durable dual-layer waterproof design* — Protects the crypto reader from bumps, drops, run-in and immersion in water. The electronics are protected by a hardened internal case. Rubberized silicone outer case provides a final layer of protection.
- Auto-Lock —The cryptographic key automatically encrypts all data and locks when removed from a PC/Mac or when screen protection or "computer lock" is enabled.
- Secure Entry —Data on these flash drives cannot be accessed without the correct alphanumeric password of 8 to 16 characters. A password indication option is available for this flash drive. The hint cannot match the password.
Tresorit: a stronger documented case for controlled sharing
Tresorit’s knowledge-base article says files are encrypted on the device and decrypted locally. Its documented encrypted-link settings include passwords, expiry dates, limits on opening or downloading, email verification, and watermarking. These controls make the service relevant when the main concern is reducing exposure after a file is shared—not proving anonymous access to the service.
The Tresorit “What is Tresorit” article was updated September 16, 2026. It does not establish anonymous signup or payment, so the sharing controls should not be read as evidence that account activity cannot be linked to a user.

How to choose for your threat model
Start with the person or organization you want to keep data from, then check the corresponding protection. A service designed to restrict provider access to file contents may still expose account or connection information, while Tor support may improve network privacy without concealing account identity.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- Decide what must remain private. Separate file contents and names from signup identity, payment records, network address, and sharing activity.
- Check the encryption boundary. Find out who holds usable decryption keys and whether file names and folder metadata are encrypted, not just file contents.
- Verify account and payment requirements directly. Look for required email, phone, identity verification, and accepted payment methods. The cited pages do not resolve these details for the three services.
- Assess connection privacy separately. If you plan to use Tor, confirm the service’s supported access route and understand that account login can still associate activity with your account.
- Review sharing and recovery before uploading. Choose link protections that fit the recipient and sensitivity of the file, and understand how you can regain access if credentials or keys are lost.
- Inspect assurance claims and operational fit. Check audit scope, supported platforms, storage allowance, sync, collaboration, jurisdiction, and stated handling of legal requests. The cited pages do not fully establish these details across the three services.
How strong is the evidence for calling any option anonymous?
The cited material consists of provider product pages, a vendor knowledge base, and comparison resources. It supports describing certain encryption, Tor, and sharing features, but does not confirm fully anonymous registration and payment for any named service. A feature such as zero-knowledge encryption or Tor access should therefore be described narrowly rather than used as a blanket anonymity claim.
