No Android setting guarantees an uninterrupted stream: model and software differences, heat, app failures, and network loss can still stop it. Test your own setup before an important broadcast.
Before changing Android settings, confirm YouTube is ready
Connect your YouTube account in Streamlabs and check that your channel is eligible to start a live stream. Streamlabs says first-time YouTube streaming requires phone verification and a setup period; exact eligibility and onboarding requirements can change, so check the current YouTube account and Streamlabs app screens. Keep Android from restricting Streamlabs in the background
Check the app’s battery mode
On Android versions that offer per-app battery controls, find Streamlabs in Settings and check its battery usage or background setting. Android’s documented Unrestricted mode allows background work and may use more battery; Optimized is the default. For a planned long session, avoid a restricted mode that prevents the app from working in the background. Menu names and paths vary by Android version and manufacturer. This may help background operation, but it cannot prevent crashes, operating-system intervention, heat-related limits, or network failure. See Android’s background optimization documentation.
On Samsung Galaxy, check sleeping-app lists
Samsung devices may put apps in Sleeping or Deep sleeping lists. Look under Settings for Battery and device care, then Battery and background usage limits; the exact labels and path depend on the Galaxy model and One UI version. Check that Streamlabs is not listed as a sleeping app. If available, adding it to Never sleeping apps may reduce background restrictions, but can increase battery use. Allow the connection Streamlabs needs
If Data Saver or an app-level data restriction is enabled, check whether Streamlabs is allowed the data access required for your session. Android and device makers expose these controls differently; Google describes unrestricted data access while Data Saver is on in its background data help. That guidance does not establish that any particular Streamlabs broadcast will work under every restriction, so validate your own configuration on the connection you plan to use.
Choose a stream output your phone and network can sustain
In Streamlabs’ Android Streaming Settings, review output resolution, expected frame rate, and maximum bitrate. These settings affect the demands on both the phone and the upload connection. Streamlabs’ official guide lists the controls but does not prescribe one best preset for every Android handset and network. Prepare the phone for a long session
- Start with the phone fully charged and keep a charger nearby. Streamlabs advises avoiding charging while streaming if possible because it can strain the phone battery; how that applies depends on the device and conditions.
- Close apps you do not need for the broadcast.
- Enable Do Not Disturb or a similar mode to reduce interruptions.
- Keep the phone and connection in the conditions you intend to use, and test the complete setup rather than assuming a setting will behave the same across devices.
Streamlabs lists a power bank as an optional way to add battery capacity, as well as wireless microphones and a gimbal or tripod for audio and camera stability. These are optional accessories, not fixes for background restrictions. Its Streamlabs Mobile page describes Network Boost as using multiple connections, such as Wi-Fi and cellular, to support connection reliability. Availability can vary, and neither that feature nor accessories guarantee an uninterrupted broadcast.

Validate your exact setup before relying on it
- Apply the battery, sleeping-app, and data-access checks that are available on your phone.
- Choose a conservative output if you are unsure what the handset or upload connection can sustain.
- Start a short test stream on the same phone, network, and power arrangement planned for the long session.
- Check the YouTube stream and the phone during the test for interruptions or signs that the chosen output is not sustainable; adjust and test again if needed.
The reviewed official guidance does not establish that Streamlabs will reliably keep streaming with the screen locked on every Android phone. A short test is the practical way to check your own device and connection; it is not a guarantee that a later, longer session will remain uninterrupted.

Common problems and what to check
- The stream stops when Streamlabs is in the background: check the app’s battery mode and, on Galaxy phones, the Sleeping and Deep sleeping lists. Android may still intervene for reasons those settings do not control.
- The app cannot use mobile data as expected: review Data Saver and any app-level data restriction, then test with the intended connection.
- The broadcast struggles at the selected quality: lower the resolution, frame rate, or maximum bitrate and validate the revised output on the same network.
- The phone is interrupted or runs low on charge: use Do Not Disturb, close unneeded apps, begin fully charged, and keep a charger nearby. Streamlabs advises avoiding charging during a stream if possible.
