For a large-screen workflow, limit your shortlist to book-style phones. A flip phone can be excellent for portability or endurance, but it does not provide the same tablet-like canvas for two substantial apps side by side.

An inner display around eight inches gives you more physical room for two panes, a document beside a reference page, or a game with a chat or guide nearby. It does not, by itself, prove that multitasking is better. Window management, app scaling, keyboard behavior, drag-and-drop support and whether individual apps adapt to the unfolded aspect ratio determine how useful the extra area feels.

The available evidence confirms 8-inch-class inner displays for both the Fold 7 and Pixel 10 Pro Fold, but it does not provide a controlled, side-by-side multitasking workflow result. Treat screen size as capacity rather than a verdict on software quality. Before buying, check the apps you use most: some will open in a spacious tablet layout, while others may remain phone-sized, letterboxed or require manual resizing.
Book-style versus flip-style
Book-style models open like a small tablet and are the relevant category for expansive split-screen work. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an 8.0-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover display. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has an 8-inch inner display and a 6.4-inch outer display. A flip model such as the Motorola Razr Ultra 2026 opens to a conventional tall phone screen; its strong battery result should not be read as evidence that it can replace either book-style model for multitasking.
Aspect ratio and app shape
The Fold 7’s squarer unfolded aspect ratio is useful for RPGs, puzzles, strategy titles, reading and two-column layouts. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7: the leading gaming pick, provisionally
TechRadar’s ranking, last updated July 24, 2026, names the Galaxy Z Fold 7 its best overall foldable. The publication’s separate gaming guide names it the best foldable gaming phone, citing the 8-inch inner screen and flagship internal hardware. Its listed specifications are a 6.5-inch cover display, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and a 4,400mAh battery.
Why gamers should consider it
The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy gives the Fold 7 the high-end platform expected for demanding games, while the unfolded screen leaves more room for strategy maps, RPG interfaces and puzzle boards. TechRadar specifically identifies those genres as a good fit. The large display can also make virtual controls easier to see, although the best layout remains game-dependent.
For shooters and games designed around a tall scrolling viewport, the squarer canvas may feel less conventional. That is a shape trade-off, not a performance defect. If your library is dominated by those games, test the control placement and field of view before assuming that the largest screen is automatically the best one.
Battery and charging context
Samsung lists a 4,400mAh battery and claims up to 24 hours of video playback. The 24-hour figure is a manufacturer claim, not an independent all-day guarantee and not directly comparable with another company’s claim unless conditions match.

In the same comparison, a full wired charge took 83 minutes, and a 30-minute charge reached 46 percent. Those results describe PhoneArena’s test methods and workloads; they are not a promise for every game, brightness level or network condition.
Who should buy it
- Choose it when gaming performance and a large unfolded game view matter more than having the biggest battery capacity.
- Choose it when you want the model with the strongest current independent ranking support.
- Consider waiting if you can tolerate uncertainty while Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra reviews are completed.
Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold: the Pixel and browsing-focused alternative
Google announced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold on August 20, 2025. Product Manager Jeff Evans described an 8-inch inner display, a 6.4-inch outer display, a Tensor G5 processor, built-in Qi2 and Pixelsnap charging and stand accessories. Google also describes a game-controller feature on the outer display and optimizations for selected gaming and streaming titles.

Battery capacity is larger, but workload results differ
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold has a stated 5,015mAh battery, compared with 4,400mAh for the Fold 7. Google says the phone can provide up to 30-plus hours of battery life and reach 50 percent on a wired charger in 30 minutes. Both figures are Google’s manufacturer statements, not comparative laboratory results.

In this test, the Pixel led browsing by 4 hours 49 minutes and reached a higher percentage after 30 minutes. The Fold 7 led video by 12 minutes, gaming by 5 hours 5 minutes and full charging by 11 minutes. These are category-specific outcomes, so there is no single universal endurance winner.
Durability and charging features
TechRadar’s current ranking selects the Pixel 10 Pro Fold as its durability pick and identifies its IP68 rating as a first for a foldable in that ranking. Qi2 is built in, and Google’s Pixelsnap accessories are designed around magnetic charging and stand use. Confirm accessory compatibility in your market before purchasing: a generic magnetic attachment is not automatically a Qi2 charger or a correctly aligned stand.
Who should buy it
- Choose it if Pixel software, Google’s Tensor platform and built-in Qi2 are more important than the Fold 7’s gaming result.
- Choose it if your heaviest activity is web browsing, where PhoneArena recorded substantially longer endurance.
- Do not choose it solely because 5,015mAh is larger; the same test recorded much shorter gaming endurance than the Fold 7.
Battery life: how to read the numbers
Foldable battery claims often mix three different kinds of evidence. Capacity is an electrical specification. Vendor playback hours are controlled claims made by the manufacturer. Independent tests measure selected workloads under an outlet’s own conditions. They answer different questions and should not be placed in one ranking without labels.
Capacity
A 5,015mAh battery is larger than a 4,400mAh battery, but screen brightness, modem activity, processor efficiency, refresh behavior, thermal limits and software scheduling all affect runtime. Capacity is useful context, not a direct conversion into hours.
Playback claims
Samsung’s up-to-24-hour video statement and Google’s up-to-30-plus-hour statement are manufacturer claims. The wording indicates a maximum under the company’s specified conditions, not a guaranteed result for mixed use. Do not compare those numbers with PhoneArena’s browsing, video or gaming figures as if they were the same experiment.
Independent workload tests
PhoneArena’s table is most useful when matched to your routine. Browsing favors the Pixel in that comparison; gaming strongly favors the Fold 7; video is nearly even, with the Fold 7 ahead by 12 minutes. If you game for hours, the gaming row deserves more weight than the browsing row. If your day is mostly articles, mail and web apps, the browsing result is more relevant.

For RPGs, puzzles and strategy
The Fold 7 is the clearest choice in the cited gaming coverage. Its 8-inch unfolded screen and Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy match the interface-heavy nature of these genres, and its PhoneArena gaming result was 8 hours 43 minutes.

For first-person shooters and scrolling games
Do not assume an unfolded screen solves every control problem. The squarer ratio can be less natural for shooters or scrolling games, according to TechRadar. Compare the game’s control scheme, camera framing and support for external controllers. The Pixel announcement also describes a game-controller feature on its outer display, but Google’s statement does not establish a comparative performance advantage.
For long sessions away from a charger
The Fold 7 has the stronger cited gaming endurance result. Keep thermal conditions in mind: demanding games, high brightness and cellular data can reduce runtime, and neither the cited ranking nor PhoneArena’s figures guarantee the same result in every title.
What the 2026 Fold 8 announcements change
Samsung has announced the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8. TechRadar’s current ranking says the new models had not yet received full reviews and advises caution about buying a Fold 7 until coverage is updated. That means the Fold 7 is the best-tested recommendation in this article, not an uncontested statement that it is the newest or permanently best foldable.
A separate TechRadar test of the Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra reported about 5.5 hours at high performance. That figure is methodology-specific and should not be generalized to ordinary daily battery life. It also does not replace a complete review covering software, cameras, durability, charging and multiple workloads.
Wait for full independent reviews if you need the newest generation, want to compare sustained gaming performance, or are making a purchase that you expect to keep for several years. Buy the Fold 7 now only when its established gaming and overall test record outweighs the possibility of newer hardware changing the ranking.

Motorola Razr Ultra 2026
Tom’s Guide recorded 16 hours 20 minutes in its 2026 battery-drain test, the longest result in that guide. That is a useful flip-phone endurance reference, not a like-for-like result against book-style foldables. The Razr Ultra 2026 is appropriate when a compact folded shape and strong tested battery matter more than an 8-inch inner workspace.
OnePlus Open
TechRadar labels the OnePlus Open its bargain pick in the 2026 ranking. The cited material does not establish a current gaming or battery advantage, so treat it as a value-oriented alternative rather than a recommendation for either of those specific priorities.
Buying checklist for a foldable
- Pick the form factor first. Select a book-style model if two substantial apps, a large game map or tablet-like reading space is central to your use. Select a flip only if compactness is the priority.
- Match the workload to the evidence. Weight PhoneArena’s gaming result for long gaming sessions, its browsing result for web-heavy days and its video result for media playback.
- Inspect your essential apps. Confirm that your productivity, messaging and game apps support the unfolded layout you want. An 8-inch panel does not guarantee an optimized two-pane interface.
- Separate claims from tests. Record whether a battery number is a manufacturer maximum, a capacity specification or an independent test result before comparing it.
- Check charging needs. Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers built-in Qi2 and Pixelsnap support. The cited comparison measured a faster full wired charge for Fold 7, while the Pixel reached a higher percentage after 30 minutes.
- Check review timing. Because Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra reviews were still pending in the cited ranking, date your purchase decision and recheck independent coverage if you can wait.
- Confirm regional details. Availability, included chargers, accessory compatibility and warranty terms can vary by country; verify them with the seller before ordering.
Final recommendation
Buy the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 if your priority order is gaming first, a large book-style screen second and a recommendation backed by the strongest current testing. Its 8-inch inner display, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and 8h43 PhoneArena gaming result make it the most defensible choice today, while its ranking remains provisional because Fold 8 reviews are not complete.
Choose the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold if Pixel software, built-in Qi2 and browsing endurance fit your routine better. Its larger 5,015mAh battery and 16h37 browsing result are meaningful, but they do not translate into better gaming endurance in the cited comparison.
