Start with Android’s built-in lock-screen editor
Before installing anything, check your phone’s wallpaper or lock-screen settings. Google’s Android 14 announcement describes custom lock-screen shortcuts—for example, a QR reader or Google Home—and templates for fonts, widgets, colors, and formats. Google also described context-aware presentation, but the announcement does not establish that every Android phone has the same controls.
These are Android 14 capabilities, not a guarantee of identical menus or availability across manufacturers, devices, or later software releases. If you do not see a feature, check your phone maker’s current instructions for your model and software version rather than assuming a separate app can add it.
For Samsung Galaxy: Good Lock and Brief widgets
Good Lock: LockStar and ClockFace
Good Lock is Samsung’s option for adding manufacturer-supported customization modules. Samsung’s Google Play listing identifies LockStar for lock-screen and AOD customization, and ClockFace for lock-screen and AOD clock styles. The listing warns that some devices may not be supported, so check the current listing and your model before relying on a particular module: Good Lock on Google Play.

Brief widgets: supported information at a glance
For supported app information without designing a full replacement, Samsung documents this setup route: Settings → Wallpaper and style → select the current lock screen → Add widgets. Available widgets and their styles depend on the supported apps shown on your device. Samsung says that the supported app set may be added to, removed, or updated over time: Samsung’s Brief widgets instructions.
Wonderland: animated Galaxy wallpapers
Samsung’s Good Lock coverage describes Wonderland as a way to make animated lock-screen wallpapers and customize transitions between the AOD and lock screen. Its capabilities are specific to Samsung’s ecosystem; check current device and module availability before planning a layout around it: Samsung Global Newsroom’s Good Lock overview.

For custom-built designs: Kustom KLCK, KWGT, and KLWP
Kustom’s tools address related but different customization jobs. Android Authority describes KLCK as a lock-screen designer, KWGT as a widget-creation tool, and KLWP as a live-wallpaper creator. They can suit people who want to assemble a more individual design, but they involve a steeper learning curve than changing built-in settings. Because the tools are not interchangeable, choose based on what you are trying to create: KLCK for a custom lock-screen layout, KWGT for widgets, or KLWP for a live wallpaper. Check each app’s current store listing and test compatibility on your exact phone before investing time in a setup.

Check compatibility and permissions before installing
- Confirm your device and software: verify the exact phone model, Android or One UI version, and whether the app or module is available for your device and region.
- Check current module support: Samsung warns that Good Lock support varies by device; Brief widget support can also change over time.
- Review requested permissions: a 2026 secondary roundup advises caution with lock-screen replacement apps that request accessibility or overlay permissions. That is general advice, not a verified description of every app named here. Read what a permission enables and decide whether it makes sense for the feature you want.
- Keep the scope realistic: Android 14 documents lock-screen customization, but the sources do not establish that third-party lock-screen widgets are available across all Android phones.
