Choose an AI agent builder by starting with the systems where your support data already lives and the actions the agent must take. Microsoft 365 Agent Builder is aimed at lightweight, Microsoft-grounded question answering; Copilot Studio is the Microsoft option for connectors, multistep workflows and broader publishing. Salesforce Agentforce is built around CRM records and service processes, Zendesk’s Agent Builder is for organizations centered on Zendesk service operations, and OpenAI Workspace Agents offer a preview-stage route to team workflow automation in ChatGPT.
These are different product boundaries, not a controlled head-to-head ranking. Availability, licensing and pricing vary, so the comparison below distinguishes what each vendor documents from what it does not establish.

Product status and prices in this article reflect the vendor pages and announcements available on October 4, 2026. They can change. The official material reviewed does not establish comparable independent performance results, so this is a fit-based shortlist rather than a claim that one builder is fastest, most accurate or cheapest overall.
Choose based on the job the agent must perform
Knowledge answers versus actions
A knowledge assistant finds and summarizes information. An action-taking agent also changes something: it may create or update a ticket, retrieve a case, trigger an approval, or route work to a person. Those are different requirements. Write down the desired outcome for a real support request—for example, identify the customer, look up an order, record the resolution and hand off an exception—then check whether the builder documents each necessary system connection and action.
#1 Best Overall
Also distinguish a connector from a complete workflow. A connector may expose data or an action, while a workflow can sequence steps, branch on conditions, request approval and escalate when the agent cannot proceed. Copilot Studio documents these workflow capabilities; Salesforce’s examples center on CRM and service actions; OpenAI describes tools and approval checkpoints for Workspace Agents.
Internal use versus customer-facing publication
An assistant used by employees can rely on internal permissions and channels. A customer-facing agent needs a supported way to publish externally, suitable customer context, and a clear escalation route. Microsoft explicitly separates the small-team, Microsoft 365 focus of Agent Builder from Copilot Studio’s organization and external-customer audience. Do not infer that a product capable of answering employees can also be published to customers in the channels you need.
Governance and connected data
Before enabling actions, decide which records the agent may read, what it may change, which actions require human approval, and how an operator can review activity. Microsoft describes lifecycle management and telemetry for Copilot Studio. OpenAI describes admin-defined permissions, approval checkpoints, monitoring and audit logs for Workspace Agents. Zendesk’s announcement describes source-level permissions for internal Employee Service agents. These controls apply to the products and offerings named by each vendor; they are not interchangeable guarantees across all deployments.
1. Microsoft 365 Agent Builder: a lightweight Microsoft knowledge assistant
Agent Builder is Microsoft’s quick, interactive route to creating declarative agents for Microsoft 365. Microsoft positions it for individuals or small teams and content-focused question answering grounded in Microsoft Graph. That makes it a plausible choice when the main need is to help staff find and interpret Microsoft 365 content, not to run a cross-system support workflow.
Where it fits—and where it stops
The central boundary is actions. Microsoft says Agent Builder does not support authoring actions that integrate external services. If a support assistant needs to create a ticket in another service, call a custom connector or run a multistep workflow, Microsoft’s documented path is to copy the agent to Copilot Studio. This distinction matters more than the label “agent”: a useful answer from company content is not the same as an agent that can resolve a case.
Availability and capabilities depend on the tenant’s licensing. Microsoft also lists no Customer Managed Keys support for these agents and says they cannot be used in Teams group chats or one-to-one chats. Those constraints may rule it out even for an otherwise simple internal assistant. See Microsoft’s Agent Builder documentation.

Pricing and fit
Microsoft says both Agent Builder and Copilot Studio are included with a Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on license for authenticated users; without that license, Copilot Credits or pay-as-you-go access is possible. The cited comparison does not provide a current dollar price. Choose Agent Builder for a narrowly scoped Microsoft 365 knowledge assistant when its channel and security limitations fit; move to Copilot Studio when actions, external connections or broader publishing are requirements. Copilot Studio is the stronger Microsoft option when an agent needs to do more than answer from Microsoft 365 content. Microsoft describes it for departments, organizations and external customers, with multistep logic, branching, approvals, advanced models, custom and prebuilt connectors, lifecycle management, telemetry and analytics.
Support and business workflow examples
Microsoft’s examples include a customer-support agent that creates tickets and escalates to a human, IT triage, and a CRM assistant that retrieves sales data or starts approval workflows. The combination of connectors and branching supports flows in which the next step depends on what the agent finds—for instance, route an exception rather than continue an automated resolution. These are vendor-described use cases, not independent performance findings.
Licensing and trade-offs
The cited Microsoft comparison describes inclusion with the Microsoft 365 Copilot add-on license for authenticated users, plus Copilot Credits or pay-as-you-go access without that add-on. It does not state a current dollar rate, so a reliable cost comparison needs the applicable tenant arrangement and expected usage. Copilot Studio is most relevant when Microsoft is already the administration and workflow environment and the build requires connectors or external deployment. Its broader capabilities also mean buyers should define permissions, approvals and operational ownership rather than treating a prototype as ready for production. Microsoft’s comparison of Agent Builder and Copilot Studio.
3. Salesforce Agentforce: CRM-native support actions
Agentforce belongs on the shortlist when customer, order or case records and service processes already live in Salesforce. Salesforce’s examples describe a self-service agent retrieving order status and a case-management flow that identifies a customer, retrieves cases and adds a case comment. The appeal is the connection between the conversation and CRM work; the buying question is whether the needed actions are available in the chosen deployment and what each one costs.

Understand the usage meter
Salesforce describes Flex Credits as payment units consumed by individual agent actions. Action types include record updates, case summaries, product-inquiry answers, prompts and flows. Its pricing page also lists other purchase approaches, including user licenses, per-conversation pricing and a flat-fee option. As shown on the page accessed October 4, 2026, an Agentforce action is listed at 20 Flex Credits and an Agentforce Voice action at 30 Flex Credits. These are credit amounts, not dollar prices by themselves; the applicable commercial arrangement determines the bill. Check Salesforce’s Agentforce pricing page.

- Work efficiently by using Bookmarks and tools like Effect Chain, which allow you to apply multiple effects at a time
- Use one of the many other NCH multimedia applications that are integrated with MixPad.
The page’s illustrative self-service calculation assumes 20 “Where is My Order” requests each day and shows US$120 per month under its stated assumptions. That is a vendor scenario, not a general Agentforce quote. Estimate your likely cost using the actions actually taken per resolution—including summaries, lookups and updates—not merely the number of conversations. Action counts can vary substantially between a simple status lookup and a workflow that checks records, changes a case and invokes a flow.
Limits and audience
The documented examples are CRM-oriented. If a workflow depends on systems outside Salesforce, confirm the relevant connections, permissions and commercial model rather than assuming a CRM-centered agent will cover them automatically. The cited pricing page does not establish one universal price for every Agentforce deployment or workflow.
4. Zendesk Agent Builder: service operations across channels
Zendesk’s Relate 2026 announcement, dated May 19, 2026, describes Agent Builder as a no-code interface to build, test, deploy and optimize agents tailored to an organization’s service policies, workflows, data and business logic. It describes AI Agents working across messaging, email, voice, and platforms such as ChatGPT and Gemini with shared context. This makes Zendesk a natural candidate when the support operation already centers on Zendesk and continuity across service channels matters.

The same announcement does not put every capability at the same availability level. It describes some offerings as currently available and others as early access. It also says Voice AI Agents support more than 60 languages; that figure is Zendesk’s May 19, 2026 announcement and should be understood in that stated product context, not as a guarantee for every voice deployment or language pair.
Zendesk also describes a Zendesk MCP Server that lets external AI platforms connect to tickets, knowledge and customer data. For internal Employee Service, it describes agents working in Slack and Microsoft Teams with source-level permissions; Admin Copilot is described as currently available, while Knowledge Copilot and Analyst Copilot are identified as early access. These status labels are vendor statements in the announcement and may change. Read Zendesk’s Relate 2026 announcement.
Pricing and trade-offs
The cited announcement does not provide plan prices or a comparable usage meter. Confirm whether the specific builder, channel, integration and AI feature you need is available for your Zendesk plan, region and deployment. Zendesk is a service-platform fit rather than a general-purpose claim that every business workflow should be built there.

5. OpenAI Workspace Agents: preview-stage team workflow automation
Workspace Agents are described for teams that want to create workflows in ChatGPT using natural-language instructions. OpenAI says they can run on a schedule, use tools to gather information and take action, and support examples such as summarizing support requests and updating tickets. The page also describes workflows spanning Slack, Google Drive and Microsoft apps.
Controls and availability
OpenAI describes admin-defined permissions, approval checkpoints, monitoring and audit logs. Those controls can help teams oversee automation, but buyers still need to scope each agent’s access and decide which actions warrant approval. Workspace Agents are listed as research preview for ChatGPT Business, Enterprise, Edu and Teachers plans. The cited page does not provide a price or a comparable usage meter. See OpenAI’s Workspace Agents page.
Do not confuse Workspace Agents with AgentKit Agent Builder
OpenAI’s AgentKit article carries a June 3, 2026 update saying Agent Builder and Evals will be wound down and will no longer be available on the OpenAI platform from November 30, 2026. The same update points to Agents SDK for workflows that should continue as code and to Workspace Agents for natural-language prompting. This is a material lifecycle distinction: the sunset notice concerns Agent Builder and Evals in AgentKit, not a statement that Workspace Agents have the same status. Because the notice is date-sensitive, confirm the current lifecycle page before making a long-term platform decision. Read OpenAI’s AgentKit article and lifecycle update.
How to choose and scope a builder
- Map the systems of record. List where tickets, customer profiles, orders, internal knowledge and approvals live today. Favor a builder with documented access to those systems and a governance model your administrators can operate.
- Specify the agent’s outcome. Separate answer-only tasks from actions such as updating a record, creating a ticket, routing work or initiating an approval. Name each action and the data it needs.
- Set the audience and destination. Decide whether the users are employees, a department or external customers, and identify the required channels. Validate customer-facing publication rather than assuming an internal agent can be exposed externally.
- Define boundaries and escalation. Decide which records may be read or changed, which actions need a human checkpoint, and what should happen when the agent lacks the data or confidence to continue. Design a human handoff as part of the workflow.
- Check the exact status and license. Identify whether each needed feature is generally available, research preview or early access, and verify that the relevant tenant, plan, region and user type qualify.
- Model cost around real work. For action-metered pricing, count the likely actions per case; for license or conversation models, use the vendor’s applicable basis. Treat worked examples as assumptions, not quotations, and ask for the commercial terms applicable to the intended deployment.
- Test a bounded workflow before expanding it. Use representative support cases, including exceptions and handoffs. Confirm that the agent reads the right records, takes only authorized actions, leaves reviewable activity and routes failures to a person before widening access or volume.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a single best AI agent builder for every support team?
No. These products target different ecosystems, deployment audiences and action scopes, and the vendor sources do not provide a controlled comparison of their performance. A better choice is the one that fits the systems and workflows your team must support.
What should a customer-support agent do when it cannot resolve a request?
It should stop rather than guess, preserve the useful context it has gathered, and route the request to a human with a clear reason for the handoff. If the workflow can change records or trigger downstream work, include approval or review for actions with meaningful consequences.

Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Can I use OpenAI Agent Builder as a long-term new project in 2026?
The AgentKit article says Agent Builder and Evals will no longer be available on the OpenAI platform from November 30, 2026. Workspace Agents and Agents SDK are presented in that notice as different paths for natural-language prompting and code-owned workflows, respectively; check the current lifecycle information before starting a project that depends on Agent Builder.
How should I compare Salesforce Flex Credits with a per-conversation price?
They measure different things. Model a representative resolution under each available commercial option, including all actions that the workflow invokes, then compare the resulting expected cost under the relevant vendor terms. The published order-status example is only valid under its stated assumptions.
