The VIOFO A229 Pro 3CH is the clearest match for a three-camera dash cam with 4K-class front recording: its listed resolutions are 4K front, 2K rear, and 1080p inside the cabin. “4K” applies to the front camera, not all three. The Thinkware U3000 PRO is a modular alternative that needs a separately sold infrared cabin camera; Vantrue’s N4 Pro records all three views at lower resolutions than its front-only 4K mode.

Which 4K dash cam should you choose?
Choose the VIOFO A229 Pro 3CH for a ready three-view configuration
VIOFO lists 4K front, 2K rear, and 1080p interior recording for the A229 Pro 3CH. That makes its three-channel resolution breakdown easy to verify before purchase. The product listing also specifies dual-band 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, built-in GPS and Bluetooth, voice control, and buffered parking mode with automatic event detection. Treat these as listed features, not a guarantee of a particular app experience or image quality. See VIOFO’s A229 Pro 3CH specifications.

The camera and optional LTE module cannot be used at the same time, so decide whether cabin coverage or LTE is the priority for your setup. Thinkware also lists built-in radar and GPS, several parking-surveillance modes, and support for microSD cards up to 512 GB. Choose the Vantrue N4 Pro if 4K front plus 1080p rear and cabin meets your needs
The N4 Pro manual specifies simultaneous recording at 2160p front, 1080p cabin, and 1080p rear at 30 fps. That is a genuine three-camera configuration, but it is not 4K on every camera. Vantrue describes four infrared LEDs for cabin recording. Check the N4 Pro manual for the model’s documented recording modes.
What “4K” means in a three-channel dash cam
Always check each camera’s resolution in the same recording mode. A model may advertise 4K because its front camera can record at that resolution while rear and cabin views are lower, or because 4K is available only when recording with the front camera alone.

- Vantrue N4: the product page distinguishes three-channel mode at 1440p front, 1440p cabin, and 1080p rear from 4K single-front-camera recording. Confirm the exact model and mode rather than relying on the N4 family name. Vantrue N4 product page
Cabin coverage: included camera or add-on?
Package contents matter as much as resolution. VIOFO’s A229 Pro 3CH listing describes a three-channel set with an interior camera. Thinkware’s U3000 PRO is a two-camera standard setup, with the infrared cabin camera sold separately. Before ordering, confirm the exact bundle, since a product family can have different configurations and accessories.
For night-time interior recording, both VIOFO’s listing and Thinkware’s optional camera identify infrared cabin recording; Vantrue describes four infrared LEDs on the N4. These specifications describe the illumination or camera type, not a comparative night-vision test.

VIOFO A229 Pro 3CH
VIOFO says the A229 Pro requires a hardwire kit for parking mode and lists the HK4 as optional, with HK4/HK6 compatibility in its specifications. Verify the exact camera revision, kit compatibility, and vehicle fuse layout before installation. The cited product page lists buffered parking mode with automatic event detection. Thinkware lists radar, smart, motion, impact, time-lapse, and energy-saving parking-surveillance modes for the PRO. Its original U3000 page says parking surveillance needs a hardwiring cable or OBD II power cable, but do not assume the original model and PRO have identical accessory requirements. The original page’s 256 GB card limit also should not be substituted for the PRO’s listed 512 GB limit. U3000 PRO specifications Original U3000 product page

All three cameras add cables and placement decisions. Check whether the rear camera is intended for the inside of the rear window or for external mounting; some models have distinct waterproof variants. The A229 Pro 3CH discussed here is the standard configuration, not a waterproof variant.
Storage and total setup cost
VIOFO lists optional microSD storage up to 512 GB for the A229 Pro 3CH, and Thinkware lists up to 512 GB for the U3000 PRO. These maximum capacities do not mean every card is suitable: follow the exact model’s compatibility guidance and choose a card intended for continuous dash-cam recording. Include the card, any parking-mode power accessory, Thinkware’s separate cabin camera if needed, and installation in your total budget. Confirm current prices and what the box contains; VIOFO’s cited $379.99 listing is a page price accessed in 2026, not a guaranteed current or installed price.
How to make the final choice
- Write down the required resolution for each view. If you want 4K only at the front, the three options above differ in rear and cabin resolution; if you need 4K on all three cameras, none of the cited configurations establishes that capability.
- Confirm the exact three-channel mode. Read the manual or specification for the precise model and simultaneous recording mode, not just a family name or “4K” headline.
- Check the package contents. Account for a separate cabin camera on the Thinkware U3000 PRO, plus card, power kit, and any installation costs.
- Decide whether parking surveillance is required. Verify the model-specific power accessory and vehicle compatibility before purchase.
- Compare evidence appropriately. A 2025 TCS comparison table covers the A229 Pro 2CH and Vantrue N4 Pro, but it does not provide a controlled head-to-head test of the A229 Pro 3CH against the other three-channel configurations here. TCS dash-cam comparison
For a broader view of the Thinkware U3000 PRO’s modular cabin-camera approach, TechRadar’s review offers product context; it is not a controlled three-channel comparison with the other models listed.
