Best 22-inch monitors to consider

Confirm the real screen size and resolution
“22-inch” commonly describes a size class, not an exact 22.0-inch panel. Dell lists the P2226H at 21.5 inches, while Lenovo says its 22-inch class commonly includes 21.5-inch models. Full HD (1920 × 1080) is a common resolution in this class and is suitable for typical documents, web browsing, and video calls. Compare the diagonal and resolution on the specific model page rather than relying on a category label. Lenovo’s 22-inch monitor guide also notes that configurations vary, so check the exact SKU.
#1 Best Overall
- CRISP CLARITY: This 22 inch class (21.5″ viewable) Philips V line monitor delivers crisp Full HD 1920x1080 visuals. Enjoy movies, shows and videos with remarkable detail

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
Match panel type and refresh rate to the work
IPS and VA are different panel technologies, and the model listings here include both. Consider the manufacturer’s specifications for the exact model and your viewing needs; panel type alone does not establish which monitor is best for every desk. A 100Hz refresh rate is listed for the P2226H and VA2247-MH. It may be useful if you prefer smoother motion, but for routine office work, prioritize the features you will use, including resolution, inputs, and stand adjustment.
Check ports against your computer
Before ordering, identify the video output on your computer and confirm that the monitor has a compatible input. The VA2256-MHD listing names HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA. Dell lists HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA for the E2225HS, though its availability status matters (see below). Do not assume every model in a product family has the same connections: confirm the port list for the exact model and configuration.
Rank #2
- VIVID COLORS: Experience stunning colors across the entire display with the IPS panel. Colors remain bright and clear across the screen, even when you change angles. Tones and shades are represented consistently and beautifully with less color washing.
- SMOOTH PERFORMANCE: Stay in the action when playing games, watching videos, or working on creative projects. The 100Hz refresh rate reduces lag and motion blur so you don't miss a thing in fast-paced moments.¹
- MORE GAMING POWER: Gain a competitive edge with optimizable game settings. Color and image contrast can be instantly adjusted to see scenes more clearly, while Game Mode adjusts any game to fill your screen with every detail in view.
- EASY ON THE EYES: Protect your vision and stay comfortable, even during long sessions. Stay focused on your work with reduced blue light and screen flicker.²
- A MODERN AESTHETIC: Featuring a super-slim design with ultra-thin border bezels, this monitor enhances any setup with a sleek, modern look. Enjoy a lightweight and stylish addition to any environment.
Choose a stand that fits your desk and posture
If you need to raise the screen, rotate it, or share it at different angles, check the stand’s adjustment range—not merely whether the monitor tilts. Dell specifies height, pivot, swivel, and tilt adjustments for the P2226H. Stand details for the ViewSonic options are not established by the cited category listing, so verify them with the manufacturer before choosing.
Why the Dell E2225HS is not a current pick
Dell lists the E2225HS as a 21.4-inch Full HD VA monitor with HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, and tilt/height adjustment. However, the US product page showed it temporarily out of stock when accessed on October 7, 2026, so it is not a dependable purchase recommendation at that snapshot. Check Dell’s E2225HS page if you are considering it; its status may change.

How to choose the right model
- Measure the available space. Check desk width and viewing distance, and compare them with the monitor’s full dimensions—not just its panel diagonal.
- Confirm the exact model number. Look for the complete model or SKU on the manufacturer page and retailer listing; family names can cover varying configurations.
- Match the inputs. Ensure a monitor input matches your computer’s video output, allowing for any adapter you actually intend to use.
- Prioritize the stand features you need. For frequent height or orientation changes, verify that the exact model supports those adjustments.
- Recheck price and stock at checkout. The prices cited above were page snapshots from October 7, 2026, and do not guarantee today’s price or availability.
What the cited specifications do—and do not—establish
The available product and category pages support a comparison of listed specifications, not a definitive performance ranking or claim of hands-on testing. They do not establish a complete, consistent comparison of warranty coverage, brightness, or every stand and port detail across these three candidates. For context, HP’s support specifications for the older HP 22w identify a 21.5-inch Full HD display with a 60Hz refresh rate, 250 cd/m² brightness, and 1000:1 static contrast; those figures are an example for that model, not a claim about the monitors above or a current recommendation. See HP’s 22w specifications.
