In PCWorld’s 2026 hands-on review, it picked up most test debris from the floor, but missed debris on pool steps, and its brief waterline parking and lack of a completion alert make retrieval less hands-off than the product claims may suggest. It is best suited to pools with straightforward underwater cleaning needs and ledges at least 12 inches deep.
What the Beatbot Sora 10 does
Sora 10 is a cordless robotic cleaner designed to work underwater. Beatbot lists floor, wall, waterline and shallow-platform cleaning; it is not a surface skimmer. That distinction matters if leaves or insects floating on the water are the problem you most want a robot to solve.

Beatbot’s US product page lists 6,800 GPH suction, dual front roller brushes, obstacle avoidance, app control over 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and automatic waterline parking. These are manufacturer specifications and claims, not independently measured results. The page also describes a 5L basket that it rates for up to 650 leaves and standard 150 μm filtration. How well does it clean?
PCWorld reviewer Christopher Null found the robot straightforward to set up and clean after use, with capable pickup of organic and synthetic debris and credible wall and waterline scrubbing. Its movement was described as semi-random, however, and pool steps were a notable weak spot.
#1 Best Overall
- Power Meets Practicality——Delivering 6,800 GPH suction through its HydroBalance structure, it efficiently captures leaves, sand, and debris without clogging—while maintaining a smooth and steady operation.
- Extended Runtime, Less Intervention——With up to 300 minutes of continuous cleaning powered by a 7310mAh battery, the Sora covers pools up to 3,229 sq.ft (300㎡) in a single session. No need for multiple charges or mid-cycle handling.
- All-Area Cleaning with Minimal Effort——Cleans floors, walls, and waterline, including shallow areas as low as 12 inches. Handles tanning ledges and sun shelves with ease, eliminating the need for manual touch-ups.
- Effortless Lightweight Handling——Engineered with a balanced internal structure, the pool cleaner, offers a more agile and lightweight handling experience. Its optimized weight distribution makes lifting, carrying, and retrieving from the pool noticeably easier—reducing strain and simplifying every interaction.
- Smart Waterline Parking for Easy Access——At the end of each cycle, the cleaner automatically returns to the waterline and stays in position for 10 minutes. No need to reach deep or fish it out—just grab and go.
Null reported: “In my most thorough test, within about two hours the robot had collected over 95 percent of my test debris, and after another hour of running it had scooped up any lingering remnants on the floor.” In that same test, it still missed debris on the steps after almost five hours. This is one reviewer’s test in one pool, not a guaranteed pickup rate or proof that it will perform the same way in other pools. PCWorld’s Beatbot Sora 10 review

Beatbot says Sora 10 is designed for above-ground and in-ground pools, various shapes and standard materials, and saltwater below 5,000 ppm. Retrieval and app experience
Automatic waterline parking is intended to make pickup easier, but the review found a short retrieval window: Null observed the Sora 10 staying at the waterline for only a few minutes before sinking. If it is not collected in time, the included hook can be used with a pole to retrieve it. The review also reports that the app did not send a push notification when a run finished, so owners should not rely on an alert to tell them when to retrieve the robot. PCWorld’s review

How it compares with Sora 30 and Sora 70
Beatbot’s Sora-series guide presents the following manufacturer-published specifications. They are not the results of an independent side-by-side test.
| Decision point | Sora 10 | Sora 30 | Sora 70 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Surface skimming | No | No | Yes |
| Claimed shallow-platform depth | 12 in | 8 in | 8 in |
| Basket capacity | 5L | 5L | 6L |
| Battery capacity | 7,800 mAh | 10,000 mAh | 10,000 mAh |
| Combined underwater runtime | Up to 4 h | Up to 4.5 h | Up to 4.5 h |
| Retrieval distinction | Automatic waterline parking | Surface rise / parking convenience | App retrieval and surface cleaning |
Beatbot’s Sora-series comparison guide describes the models’ differences. Favor the Sora 10 if underwater cleaning is the main need and ledges are at least 12 inches deep. Consider the Sora 30 if shallower platforms are important, or the Sora 70 if you want surface debris handled by the same machine. Long-term independent comparisons among the three models are limited.

Who should buy the Sora 10?
- A reasonable fit: You want cordless floor, wall and waterline cleaning, your ledges are at least 12 inches deep, and you are comfortable retrieving the robot promptly when a cycle ends.
- Look elsewhere for a specific need: If step debris is a recurring concern, the independent review’s missed step debris is a relevant caution. If the pool’s shallow areas are under 12 inches, the stated operating threshold makes Sora 10 a poor fit for that area.
- Choose a separate surface-cleaning solution: Sora 10 does not skim floating debris. Sora 70 is the Sora model listed for surface cleaning; a dedicated surface skimmer is another category of product, not a Sora 10 accessory.
