The be quiet! Light Mount TKL is a wired, tenkeyless mechanical keyboard built to reduce typing noise without giving up a compact gaming layout. Independent reviews describe it as very quiet at a moderate pace, not silent; one reviewer also found the spacebar mushy when pressed near its edge. Its 80% layout frees mouse room by removing the numpad, while hot-swappable switches and a bundled cushioned palm rest add flexibility. Whether it is worth its review-time price depends on how much you value low noise over wireless connectivity or more competitive-focused switch technology.
Is the be quiet! Light Mount TKL actually quiet?
It is quieter than a typical mechanical keyboard according to the independent reviews, but “quiet” should not be read as silent. be quiet! attributes the noise reduction to its Silent V2 switches, three foam layers, and factory-lubricated switches and stabilizers. PC Gamer describes the board as very quiet and smooth to type on. Club386 found it very quiet at a moderate pace, but said fast, forceful typing still produces sound. Neither the manufacturer nor the cited reviews provide a standardized decibel measurement, so there is no reliable numerical comparison with another keyboard.

The switch option affects feel, not just sound: orange switches are linear, while black switches are tactile. The board supports hot-swapping with 5-pin Cherry MX-form-factor switches, so compatible replacements can be installed without soldering. Confirm the replacement switch’s compatibility before buying.

Is it good for late-night gaming?
For a shared room or late-night session, the lower noise may be useful, particularly if you type and play at a moderate pace. It cannot guarantee silent play: forceful key presses, rapid inputs, and the spacebar can still be audible. PC Gamer found the TKL spacebar quieter than the one on the full-size Light Mount, while Club386 reported a mushy feel and slower return when pressing near the spacebar’s edge. Those are subjective impressions of review units, not proof that every unit behaves identically, but the edge feel is worth considering if your games involve repeated jumps.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The keyboard uses standard mechanical switches rather than Hall-effect switches. Club386 reports a 1,000 Hz polling rate and considers it sufficient for general gaming and typing; PC Gamer likewise says this is not a board aimed at competitive play. Choose it for a quieter general-purpose mechanical experience rather than for Hall-effect features or a competitive advantage.
Quick Tap and game rules
Quick Tap is a SOCD feature: when opposing directional inputs are pressed together, it prioritizes the most recent input. It is off by default and can be controlled in IO Center or with Fn+Q. Club386 cautions that some game developers may prohibit this behavior. Check the rules for the games you play before enabling it; the available evidence does not establish a universal ban.

What does the TKL layout include—and leave out?
TKL means tenkeyless: this 80% keyboard removes the numeric keypad. Reviewers note that the narrower footprint leaves more desk space for mouse movement. The UK product page lists ANSI and ISO layout availability, but regional versions differ; check the exact layout and switch configuration before ordering.
The UK ISO linear product listing gives dimensions of 358 × 213 × 43.6 mm with the palm rest and 358 × 132 × 43.6 mm without it. It lists weights of 1.03 kg with the rest and 0.77 kg without. These measurements apply to that listed configuration, not necessarily every regional version.

- Three typing angles, adjustable using the feet.
- A magnetic, cushioned palm rest and detachable USB cable.
- A switch/keycap puller, USB Type-C cable, and manual in the box, according to the official product page.
The official page specifies a USB-A host connection and USB-C keyboard connection, full NKRO over USB, and Windows software support. IO Center handles remapping, macros, profiles, lighting, and Quick Tap configuration. PC Gamer also reports Microsoft Dynamic Lighting support. The cited information does not establish macOS or Linux compatibility.
How does it compare with the full-size Light Mount?
The clearest difference is the number pad: the full-size Light Mount includes one, while the TKL omits it to reduce width and free mouse space. PC Gamer reports that the TKL’s spacebar is quieter than the full-size model. Both models are described as part of the same low-noise Light Mount line, but the available review evidence does not establish a complete side-by-side comparison of every specification or measured acoustic output. If you regularly enter numbers, the full-size layout may be more practical; if desk width and mouse movement matter more, the TKL makes the trade-off.

Does the Light Mount TKL have a numpad or wireless?
It has no numpad and is wired only. Its cable detaches from the USB-C end of the keyboard, but that does not make the board wireless. The wired connection and standard mechanical switches are trade-offs to weigh against its sound-dampening design and TKL footprint. PC Gamer and Club386 both note that wireless or Hall-effect features would have strengthened its value proposition, and PC Gamer points to smaller 75% and 60% boards as alternatives for buyers seeking those features. Current competitor models and prices should be checked separately.
What is the Light Mount TKL’s price?
At review time, PC Gamer listed $140/€140, and Club386 listed €139.90/$139.90. These are dated review prices, not confirmed current offers. Check a current listing for your region, including the selected layout and switch type, before buying.

Who should buy it?
- Consider it if you want a wired TKL board, quieter-than-usual mechanical typing, hot-swap support, and a bundled palm rest.
- Look elsewhere if you need a numpad, wireless use, Hall-effect switches, or a spacebar with consistently firm edge feedback for repeated inputs.
- Choose the switch deliberately: orange is linear; black is tactile. Verify the regional layout as well, especially when ordering ANSI versus ISO.
The available verdict is favorable on noise and construction, but this keyboard is not silent and its spacebar feel may be a personal deal-breaker. PC Gamer’s review calls it “a joy to type on,” while Club386’s more specific caveat is that fast, frantic typing remains audible and edge presses on the spacebar can feel mushy. Read those as reviewer impressions rather than lab results: PC Gamer’s review and Club386’s review provide the independent context, while be quiet!’s product page lists configuration details.
