Battlefield 6’s upcoming Server Browser is planned for Season 5, with Battlefield Labs testing expected before release. EA says it will give players another way to find and join matches while keeping matchmaking in place. It is not the game’s first server-finding tool: Portal already lets players browse community experiences and their associated servers.
When is Battlefield 6 getting a Server Browser?
EA’s 2026 roadmap places the Server Browser in Season 5. A later EA Community Update says the feature is planned to enter Battlefield Labs testing ahead of its release. Neither cited update gives a calendar launch date, so the timing is a seasonal plan rather than a date-specific commitment. EA says it will share a closer look at the interface and options as testing approaches. EA’s 2026 roadmap update; EA’s Community Update.

What will the new browser do?
EA describes the Server Browser as an additional way to find and join Battlefield matches. Its stated goals include giving players more choice, making official servers easier to identify, and supporting full progression. These are the announced aims; EA has not yet published a complete specification of the browser’s filters, server types, or interface.

The feature is meant to complement matchmaking, not replace it. EA has separately acknowledged matchmaking concerns such as bot-filled starts or backfills, large ticket-count differences, and high-ping matches. It has not said the new browser will solve those issues, so it should be understood as another route into matches rather than a promised fix for matchmaking.

How it differs from Battlefield 6’s existing Portal browser
Battlefield 6 already has Portal tools for finding community-created experiences and servers. EA’s FAQ describes browsing experiences from the Community category or Portal’s web library, then searching by experience name, mode, or map and viewing related servers or hosting an experience. EA’s Portal 101 guide says players can sort by player count, map, or ping, and filter by host region, maximum players, tags, and other options.
| Area | Existing Portal browser | Upcoming Server Browser |
|---|---|---|
| What players browse | Community experiences and their associated servers. | EA describes it as another way to find and join Battlefield matches; further scope details have not been published. |
| Filters and details | EA documents searches by experience name, mode, or map, plus sorting and filters including player count, map, ping, host region, maximum players, and tags. | Specific filters and interface details are not yet stated. |
| Official servers | Portal’s documented focus is community experiences and their servers. | EA says making official servers easy to identify is a goal. |
| Progression | Progress depends on experience type: Verified Community Experiences can grant challenge, badge, and accolade progress, while Custom Community Experiences grant time-played experience. | EA says the browser will support full progression; detailed rules are not yet stated. |
| Matchmaking and continuity | Portal provides a separate route to community experiences and servers. | EA says it will coexist with matchmaking and that it is working toward more persistent match flow where possible; it has not promised persistence for every server or match. |
The available official information establishes that the planned browser will coexist with Portal, but does not yet spell out every way the two interfaces or server types will interact. See the Battlefield 6 FAQ for EA’s current explanation of Portal browsing and progression.

Will Battlefield 6 matchmaking go away?
No. EA says the Server Browser is another way to find matches, not a replacement for matchmaking. Players should expect matchmaking to remain available; the exact relationship between matchmaking and servers surfaced by the new browser has not yet been fully detailed.
