Android: Check the phone maker’s battery settings
On many Android phones, open Settings > Battery > Battery Saver. Some devices call the feature “low power mode,” and the menu or available scheduling options can vary by manufacturer and Android version. Google’s Android instructions describe the general path and direct users to their device manufacturer for model-specific steps.

If you cannot find the control, confirm your phone model and Android version, then consult the manufacturer’s current support instructions for its power-saving feature. A missing toggle alone does not establish that the phone is faulty; the general Android guidance does not identify one restriction or cause that applies to every device.

iPhone: Use the menu for your model
Apple places Low Power Mode in different menus depending on iPhone generation. You can also turn it on from Control Center. Apple’s instructions give these paths:

- iPhone 14 and earlier: Settings > Battery > Low Power Mode.
- iPhone 15 and later: Settings > Battery > Power Mode > Low Power Mode.
- Control Center: Add or use the Low Power Mode control there, if available on your setup.
If it turns off while charging
That can be expected: Apple says Low Power Mode turns off when the iPhone charges to 80% or higher. If you enable it and later find it off after charging, this behavior may explain the change.
If it turns on around 20%
On supported iPhone models, Adaptive Power can turn on Low Power Mode automatically when the battery reaches 20%. Apple’s Adaptive Power guidance describes this behavior. It may account for Low Power Mode switching on even when you did not manually enable it.

Windows: Look for Energy saver in Windows 11
In Windows 11, open Settings > System > Power & battery > Energy saver. Microsoft describes Energy saver as activating when the battery is low and limiting background processes. See Microsoft’s Windows battery guidance for the current setting location.

Microsoft’s technical Battery Saver documentation gives a default automatic trigger below 20% for the Windows versions it covers: Windows 10 and Windows 11 24H1 and earlier. That threshold and older label should not be assumed to apply to every newer Windows release.

What to check when the toggle still will not stay on
- Identify the device and software version. The steps depend on whether this is an Android phone, iPhone, or Windows PC, and may also depend on the model or release.
- Use the matching setting name and menu above. A menu labeled Energy saver or Low Power Mode may be the right control even if you searched for “Battery Saver.”
- Notice whether the state changes automatically. On iPhone, charging to 80% or higher can switch Low Power Mode off, while Adaptive Power can switch it on at 20% on supported models.
- For Android, consult the device maker if the option is missing. Google’s general directions do not specify one universal cause for a missing or unavailable control.
If the appropriate control is present but tapping it still does nothing, the available platform guidance does not establish a single cause for every device. A particular diagnosis requires details such as the model, operating-system version, exact control used, and any error shown. The official instructions cited here do not support assuming that the battery is defective, an administrator blocked the setting, or an app caused the problem.
