Yes: Baldur’s Gate 3 supports cross-play between PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5. Players meet through the Multiplayer menu’s Cross-Play tab. Modded sessions require matching mods and versions, while cross-saves are a separate Larian Account feature that syncs a copy of recent saves—not every local save automatically.
Can PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation players play together?
Yes. Larian’s Patch 8 announcement says PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation 5 players can join multiplayer together through the Larian Network, with cross-platform progression. To find or start a session, open Multiplayer in the game and select the Cross-Play tab. From there, join an available lobby or create one for friends. Cross-play and cross-save solve different problems. Cross-play lets players on supported platforms share a multiplayer session. Cross-save uses a Larian Account to sync eligible save copies between devices; it does not mean every locally stored save automatically appears everywhere.

What multiplayer options are available?
Larian’s FAQ describes four-player online multiplayer and split-screen co-op. The split-screen statement is from the official FAQ; check current game and platform details for any platform-specific restrictions. Larian’s official FAQ covers these multiplayer options.

Do all players need the same mods?
Yes. For a modded multiplayer session, players need matching mods and versions. A mod being installed by one player is not enough: differences in a mod’s version or enabled status can prevent the group from loading into the same session.
Larian’s mod synchronization guide explains the Verification Window, which identifies mismatches and may offer options to download, enable, update, or downgrade mods to match the host or save. Check each mod’s platform availability when the group includes console or Mac players. Larian’s Patch 8 guidance states that console players have a 100-mod limit.

Can a modded PC save load on console or Mac?
Only if the save’s game version and its mods are compatible with the destination platform. Larian says supported mods may be offered for installation when loading a cross-save, but PC mods not approved for console cannot be loaded there. A PC-created cross-play lobby with console or Mac players should use mods marked as available on those platforms, and console players must stay within the console mod limit. Before starting a shared campaign, check that every required mod is available on every player’s platform and that everyone can use the same versions. Platform availability and version matching are separate checks: a mod may be available on a device but still mismatch the version used by the host.

Why won’t a modded save or multiplayer lobby load?
Start with the Verification Window and address the mismatch it identifies. Larian’s synchronization instructions list the relevant actions:
- Download a missing mod.
- Enable a mod that is installed but disabled.
- Update or downgrade a mod to match the host or save.
- Review any newly added or third-party mods that may not be available to all players.
If the mismatch remains, a mod update, dependency, or conflict may be affecting the save or session. Larian’s mod issues guidance discusses these causes. Supported mods are not guaranteed to work flawlessly in every combination or after every game update.

How do Baldur’s Gate 3 cross-saves work?
Enable cross-save through a Larian Account to sync a copy of the last ten saves, according to Larian’s account support page. This is a limited set of synchronized copies, not a replacement for keeping important saves on the device where they were created.
