Six Flags Great Adventure has begun assembling the trains for Bakunawa, its planned 2027 coaster. In an October 5, 2026 report, Amusement Today said nine of the ride’s 10 cars were being assembled, while the remaining car was already complete and on site. Train installation and testing were still ahead in the reported construction sequence.

What the train-assembly milestone means

Each Bakunawa car consists of a ride chassis topped with a fully assembled seat gondola. The park’s ride mechanics and ride electricians are handling the assembly, which the October 5 report said takes approximately one week per car. That is an estimated assembly time per car, not a completion date for the entire project.

When assembly is complete, the planned configuration is two five-car trains, one green and one purple. Six Flags Great Adventure lists two trains with capacity for 20 passengers each on its official Bakunawa page.

What comes next: track installation and testing

The October 5 report describes a sequence: finish assembling the cars, put the trains on the track, then carry out testing. It does not report that train installation or testing has begun. The assembly milestone therefore marks progress on the vehicles, not confirmation that Bakunawa is ready to open.

Bakunawa’s announced specifications and opening

Six Flags Great Adventure currently lists Bakunawa as planned to open in 2027. The park’s published specifications describe a 382-foot-tall ride with a stated top speed of 100 mph and a ride-experience length of 3,163 feet. The listed total ride cycle is 2 minutes, 17 seconds, and the minimum height requirement is 48 inches. These are park-published plans and specifications, not independently measured results.

The official page describes three launches: from 0 to 60 mph, from 60 to 80 mph while inverted, and from 80 to 100 mph. Six Flags also promotes the ride with record and first claims, including fastest and tallest spinning coaster, fastest inversion, longest stall inversion, first floorless spinning coaster, and first upside-down launch. Those are claims made by the park and are not independently verified here.

How to read the construction update

Amusement Source Media also republished the October 2 release with the same car counts and construction sequence. Because it reproduces the park’s release, it is not independent confirmation of the milestone. The dated October 5 report remains a snapshot of progress at that time; it does not establish the project’s status after that date.
