What you do in the demo
Bad Magpie is a single-player narrative adventure about a one-winged magpie, a missing flock, shiny objects, and a fallen star. The demo puts you in a corner of one of the full game’s three areas. Its immediate goal is to find meteorite shards scattered around the map.
Exploration and interaction drive play: peck, steal, combine objects, and meddle with the environment. The Steam description gives examples including using a megaphone to shatter glass, pecking flint to start fires, and dropping an apple into oil. It says, “Every puzzle has multiple solutions. Most of them are intentional.” The demo includes a few lines of text before and after gameplay; the full game’s story is conveyed through gameplay.

What the preview build revealed about shard hunting
In a June 10, 2026 Xbox Wire preview, editor Will Fulton described a roughly half-hour session in which the injured bird could hop but not fly. In that preview build, a turn-in required 20 meteorite shards, with 30 available in the area. Those are details from the previewed build, not confirmed totals for the released demo or the full game.

The Steam demo listing gives these minimum platform details:
- Windows: Windows 10 64-bit and DirectX 12.
- macOS: macOS 12 Monterey or later.
The demo listing supports 14 interface and subtitle languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Turkish, and Ukrainian. Steam also lists Xbox controller support.

When the full game is expected
Milktooth’s official site says “COMING 2027.” That is a planned year, not a firm release date. Xbox Wire announced plans for the full game on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, cloud, and Game Pass, with Xbox Play Anywhere. The full-game Steam page says “Coming soon” and displays a Tribeca Festival Official Selection 2026 laurel. These announcements concern the full game, not proof that the demo is available on Xbox consoles.
