It can back up to cloud services and external drives, but it does not create disk images or send one job to multiple destinations, according to PCWorld’s review. The major version 9 launched in 2021; Softland’s product page lists version 9.9.1044, released March 31, 2026, so the review’s “9” label should not be mistaken for the current point release.
What Backup4all Professional 9 does
Backup4all is a file-backup application for Windows. It lets users define and schedule jobs for selected files and folders, choose how changes are captured, and send backups to local, removable, network, remote, or cloud storage. Softland lists these capabilities; they are not independent performance-test results.

The Professional edition is described in the 2024 manual as the full-featured edition, while Standard and Lite have limited functionality. The product’s capabilities and edition details may change, so check Softland’s current product information before buying.

Softland lists full, differential, incremental, mirror, and “smart” backup options. Full backups copy the selected data; differential and incremental approaches retain changes between backups; mirror backups keep a plain-file copy rather than an archive. Smart backup is described by the publisher as automatically choosing a backup type to balance speed and the number of file versions retained within the available destination space.

The application supports ZIP and ZIP64 archives, AES-256 encryption, and block-level backup for large files. Softland also lists email notifications. The manual describes CRC32 backup testing, while PCWorld notes logging and cleanup of older backups among the review’s features. These features can help with job administration and checking stored backup data, but the available sources do not establish independent reliability or speed measurements.
Destinations: cloud, external drives, and more
Professional can use local and external drives, network locations, optical and removable media, FTP, FTPS, SFTP, and cloud destinations. The publisher lists Google Drive, Google Cloud Storage, Microsoft OneDrive, Azure, Dropbox, Amazon S3, Box, HiDrive, and S3-compatible services. Version 9 added cloud and FTP/SFTP sources and allows different source types to be combined in one job, such as local and cloud data.

What the review says—and what it does not prove
PCWorld’s verdict describes Backup4all Professional 9 as powerful, easy to use, feature-rich, and particularly suitable for managing many backup jobs. Its review highlights scheduling, notifications, encryption, ZIP compression, logging, backup testing, application plugins, and broad storage support. This is PCWorld’s editorial assessment, not a measured benchmark or an independent test conducted for this article.
Two omissions matter when choosing backup software:
Rank #4
- High capacity in a small enclosure – The small, lightweight design offers up to 6TB* capacity, making WD Elements portable hard drives the ideal companion for consumers on the go.
- Plug-and-play expandability
- Vast capacities up to 6TB[1] to store your photos, videos, music, important documents and more
- SuperSpeed USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps)
- No disk imaging: PCWorld reports that Backup4all does not create a system image. Mirror backups keep ordinary files; they are not a substitute for an image used to restore an operating system and its disk layout.
- No multiple destinations per job: PCWorld says a single job cannot target more than one destination. If you want the same backup sent to both a local drive and cloud storage, plan for separate jobs or another workflow rather than assuming one job will fan out to both.
Version 9 versus the current 9.9 release
The major version 9 release notes are dated April 29, 2021. Softland’s product page listed version 9.9.1044, released March 31, 2026, when accessed for this article. The PCWorld review concerns Professional 9, while the publisher’s later 9.9 listing reflects a newer point release in the same major-version family. Verify the current version and compatibility information on the publisher’s page before installation.

Softland’s purchase page displayed US$49.99 for Backup4all Professional 9 when accessed in 2026. The page described a one-time payment with no recurring license fees and said one license is needed per computer; VAT or sales tax may be added. This is a time-sensitive US-listed price, not a universal quote. Confirm the amount and terms for your region on the purchase page.

Who should consider it?
Backup4all Professional is a plausible fit for Windows users who want detailed control over file-based backup jobs and a choice of local, removable, network, remote, and cloud destinations. Its job-management features and broad destination list may suit people maintaining several backup routines.
It is a weaker fit if your recovery plan depends on full-disk imaging or if one job must write to multiple destinations. Those requirements are different from file backup and should be checked explicitly before purchase. Also confirm whether the specific edition and destination you intend to use are supported.
