B450M DS3H: 4 Slots, 128GB RAM and Supported Speeds

The B450M DS3H (Rev. 1.x) supports four DDR4 DIMMs and up to 128 GB. Learn what its O.C. speed ratings mean and how to check kit compatibility.

The GIGABYTE B450M DS3H (Rev. 1.x) supports four DDR4 desktop memory modules, up to 128 GB total, and dual-channel operation. Its listed speeds range from 2133 to 3600 MHz, but the 3200, 3466, and 3600 MHz entries are marked “O.C.” and are not guaranteed for every processor and kit. Check your exact board revision, CPU, and RAM model before buying.

What RAM does the B450M DS3H support?

For the B450M DS3H (Rev. 1.x), GIGABYTE specifies DDR4 memory in four DIMM sockets, dual-channel architecture, and support for XMP. The board specification lists unbuffered memory. GIGABYTE’s complete listed speeds are 2133, 2400, 2667, 2933, 3200 (O.C.), 3466 (O.C.), and 3600 (O.C.) MHz. See GIGABYTE’s B450M DS3H (Rev. 1.x) specifications.

“O.C.” is GIGABYTE’s overclocked-speed designation. It does not mean that every CPU and memory kit will run at that speed automatically or reliably. The processor’s memory controller, BIOS, kit, and installed-module configuration can affect the achievable speed; the specification does not guarantee a particular result for an unspecified combination.

How much memory can you install?

GIGABYTE lists a maximum of 128 GB across the board’s four DIMM sockets. That is the product’s stated total capacity, not a statement that every module arrangement or processor will necessarily work. The board uses dual-channel memory, so consult the motherboard manual for slot population and installation guidance when configuring a kit.

How to check whether a RAM kit is compatible

  1. Identify the exact motherboard. Check the model name and PCB revision printed on the board. The specifications here apply to the B450M DS3H (Rev. 1.x), not automatically to the B450M DS3H WIFI or another similarly named model.
  2. Identify your processor. GIGABYTE directs owners to its CPU Support List for processor details. CPU support and memory behavior depend on the exact system configuration.
  3. Compare the complete memory-kit model number. Check the appropriate GIGABYTE Memory Support List or QVL for the processor family and configuration. The published QVL documents include separate Raven, Pinnacle, and Picasso lists: Raven QVL, Pinnacle QVL, and Picasso QVL.
  4. Check the details, not just the brand or rated speed. Compare capacity, number of modules, rated speed and XMP/overclocking requirements, exact model identifier, and any module configuration details shown in the list.

A QVL entry is evidence for the listed kit and configuration; it does not establish compatibility across every CPU and setup. Conversely, a kit missing from a QVL is not thereby proven incompatible. The available QVLs are legacy documents, so use the motherboard support page and your specific CPU information when making a current compatibility check.

Does 3200 MHz RAM work on the B450M DS3H?

GIGABYTE lists 3200 MHz as O.C. for this revision. That makes it a listed overclocked memory speed, not a universal guarantee that any 3200 MHz kit will operate at its rated speed on every supported processor. Confirm the exact CPU and kit, check the relevant support information, and be prepared for the system to use a lower speed if the combination does not run at the rated setting.

Can you use ECC memory?

GIGABYTE’s specification indicates that supported ECC unbuffered modules operate in non-ECC mode. Do not choose this board on the assumption that it will provide ECC error correction. The listed memory type is unbuffered; the specification does not establish support for registered memory.

What to compare when choosing a kit

  • Capacity and module count: Choose the total memory capacity you need and verify the kit’s configuration against the board and CPU information.
  • Rated speed and settings: Note whether the speed is one of the O.C. entries and whether reaching the kit’s rating depends on enabling XMP.
  • Exact model number and QVL match: Compare the full identifier and the processor-family list, rather than relying on a product family name alone.
  • Configuration details: Use any organization or module configuration information provided in the relevant QVL.
  • Purchase terms: Check current price and availability with the retailer; GIGABYTE’s specifications and QVLs do not provide retail pricing.

For example, the Raven QVL includes a Corsair 8 GB module entry identified as CM4X8GC3000C15K4-CN ver4.24. It illustrates the specificity of a QVL entry; it is not a current recommendation or a guarantee for all CPUs and configurations.
