Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →A full Azure VM disk does not, by itself, show that YouTube streaming caused the problem. First identify which volume is full and what is consuming its space; delete only files you have confirmed are disposable and no longer needed. If cleanup is not enough, expand the Azure managed disk and then extend its volume in Windows.
1. Identify the full volume and what is using its space
Before deleting files or changing disk settings, establish whether the full volume is the Windows OS disk, an attached managed data disk, or the Azure temporary disk. Check the VM’s configured disks and drive letters, then inspect the affected volume’s available space and largest files and folders. The exact YouTube streaming application and its log, cache, and temporary-file locations are not established here, so do not assume a particular folder or attribute disk growth to streaming without evidence.

- Record the affected drive letter and whether it belongs to the OS, a managed data disk, or temporary storage.
- Locate the largest files and folders on that volume and identify which application or service owns them.
- Check the application’s configured log, cache, recording, and temporary paths, along with any retention requirements, before considering deletion.
Microsoft’s Azure VM troubleshooting-log reference describes files that may be collected for support troubleshooting with customer consent. It is not a list of files known to be large or safe to delete, and it does not identify the logs or temporary files used by your streaming application.
2. Check temporary storage before cleaning it
Azure’s temporary disk has a different role from a managed disk. Microsoft describes it as short-term storage for applications and processes, with examples such as page files and SQL Server tempdb. On Windows, it is drive D by default, but confirm your VM’s configuration rather than relying on that default.

- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition no software required
- This USB drive provides plug and play simplicity with the included 18 inch USB 3.0 cable
- The available storage capacity may vary.
Temporary-disk contents might be lost during maintenance, VM redeployment, or stopping the VM; Microsoft says the data persists during a successful standard restart. Do not assume that a folder or drive is safe to empty just because it is called temporary. Confirm what the workload stores there and whether it can be regenerated before removing anything. The available documentation does not establish how a particular YouTube streaming application handles its temporary files.
See Microsoft’s managed disks overview for the distinction between managed disks and temporary storage.

- To get set up, connect the portable hard drive to a computer for automatic recognition software required

3. Remove only files you have verified are disposable
- Use the application’s own settings or documentation to find its log, cache, and temporary-file locations; paths vary by application and configuration.
- Check whether the files are needed for active streaming, recovery, support, auditing, or a required retention period. If you are unsure, preserve them or ask the application owner or administrator before deletion.
- Where appropriate, stop or pause the workload using its normal procedure before removing files it may be writing. Do not delete open or active files based only on their names.
- Delete only identified files that are confirmed to be unnecessary, then check the volume again and observe whether its free space remains stable.
If the same volume fills again, identify what is growing rather than repeatedly deleting files. The cause may be unrelated to YouTube streaming, and the known Azure support-log locations do not diagnose this VM.
4. Expand the managed disk if cleanup is not enough
If the VM needs more persistent capacity, Microsoft’s process has two separate parts: increase the managed disk size in Azure, then expand the corresponding volume in Windows so the operating system can use the added capacity. Availability and whether the VM must be deallocated depend on the disk type and configuration; check the applicable conditions in Microsoft’s Windows VM disk expansion guide before acting. Do not assume every resize has the same downtime requirements.

- Verify the target. Confirm which managed disk and Windows volume need more space, and check the VM and disk configuration against the guide’s eligibility and availability conditions.
- Resize the managed disk in Azure. Follow the guide for the relevant OS or data disk and disk configuration. Some procedures require deallocating the VM.
- Extend the Windows volume. After Azure reports the larger disk, Windows must extend the partition or volume to use the added capacity. Resizing the disk in Azure alone does not complete this step.
- Verify the result. Check the intended Windows volume’s capacity and free space, and confirm the workload still uses the expected paths.
Microsoft’s Azure PowerShell disk-expansion tutorial shows a Windows-side example using Get-PartitionSupportedSize and Resize-Partition to extend a selected drive to its supported maximum. Verify the drive letter and target volume before running commands; do not apply an example to a different volume without checking it.
Do not try to shrink an existing disk as a cleanup shortcut. Microsoft warns: “Shrinking an existing disk isn’t supported and might result in data loss.”

5. Choose the right storage path
- Cleanup: Appropriate when inspection identifies confirmed disposable files and the remaining capacity is sufficient for the workload.
- Managed-disk expansion: Consider when the OS or data volume persistently needs more capacity. Check the specific disk type and VM conditions, then remember to extend the Windows volume after the Azure resize.
- Temporary-disk cleanup: Consider only after verifying what is stored there and whether the workload can safely regenerate it. Temporary storage is not a substitute for persistent managed capacity.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the underlying problem is keeping a prerecorded YouTube stream running without leaving your own computer on, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload your video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not stream from a camera. This does not diagnose or fix a full Azure VM disk.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Nothing has to stay on at home: the stream runs from the cloud.
- Videos stream as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers.
- Automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream.
