There is no documented, apples-to-apples maximum page height that proves either extension captures longer pages. Their fallbacks differ: GoFullPage says it can split an oversized capture into images in separate tabs, while Awesome Screenshot offers multiple local image downloads, PDF, and cloud saving for most pages—with a warning that extremely long pages may still be incomplete. Choose based on the file you need, then test especially long or unusually structured pages on the site itself.
How each extension handles an oversized page
GoFullPage: split the capture into images
GoFullPage describes full-page capture as scrolling through the page’s visible portions. Its Chrome Web Store listing says that if a page is too large for Chrome to store in one image, the extension will notify you and split the capture into images in separate tabs. Awesome Screenshot: local images, PDF, or cloud
Awesome Screenshot’s support documentation says very long screenshots saved locally may be cut off. It offers a “Download all” route for multiple images, or PDF when you need a single file. Its cloud option can save one complete file for most webpages, but the support page cautions that extremely long pages may still not be fully captured and recommends switching to local saving in that situation. Neither vendor’s cited documentation establishes a comparable maximum page height, and there is no controlled head-to-head result here. That means a claim that one universally captures longer pages would go beyond the available product documentation.

How to compare them on your page
- Open the same target page in Chrome and let it load. If it uses lazy-loaded content, scroll through it first so content that appears on demand has a chance to load.
- Run each extension’s full-page capture on that same page. For Awesome Screenshot, its help describes choosing “Capture,” then “Full Page.”
- Inspect the complete output—not just the preview. Look for missing lower sections, cutoff content, blank gaps, repeated sections, and whether nested scrollable areas appear.
- Try the output mode you actually need: one image, split images, or a paginated PDF. A successful PDF does not establish that a tool can produce one continuous image of the same height.
- If the page has nested scrolling or unusual layout behavior, test those areas separately. GoFullPage’s listing describes support for inner scrollable elements and embedded iframes, but that is a vendor-described capability, not independent test evidence.
Results can depend on both browser image/storage constraints and page structure. A page that works in one output mode may not work in another.
When an apparent failure is not a length limit
Chrome prevents extensions from accessing some browser-controlled pages, including URLs beginning with chrome://, browser settings, the Chrome Web Store, and other extensions. Awesome Screenshot says full-page and selected-area capture are unavailable on some such pages; its suggested visible-area or entire-screen alternatives do not test full-page capacity.
